  1. Just a quick update.  After such a long and tiring process it amazes me how fast things moved along after they began working the case.  Last Saturday I received the text that said the Card had been ordered.  Monday was updated to Case Approved (yeah, a bit backwards). Wednesday was we received the approval letter in the mail (hooray).  Thursday update said card was mail USPS Express.  Today the green card for my wife arrived!!

Wow.  6 days from the first notice we received in 18 months, we get the GC in the mail.  All this stress, waiting, infopass appointments, etc, ....all over a simple back log. Which is frustrating given that we PAY for this service.  That all said, feels great to have the GC in hand, and I post this to encourage those still waiting that once things start moving the process does go quickly!!

  2. NOA 1 November 15 2016.  I received a text  yesterday saying case status has changed. Check as showed "New Card is Being Produced."  On May 5 we ordered your new card for WAC1704XXXXXX.

I'm sure that's good news so looks like the ROC is under the belt.  Finally!!   Feels good to have that off our backs.  She plans to apply for citizenship this fall.

Continued good luck to everyone on the journey.

    None at all

No doubt some pen pusher decided to flex their authority at us.

Wow that sucks.  I feel for you.  To be honest this entire process from the very beginning has been a disappointment.  Wait times for the initial IR-1/CR-1 were ridiculous, and now this ridiculous waiting for ROC.  I can't help feeling that doing it the "right way" is to subject yourself to a process that is overwhelmed, under resourced, and frankly not made a priority by anyone in the government.  Legal immigrants are not a valuable political football to kick around.  I've felt from the start that placing our lives in the hands of complete strangers that likely do not really care much about the human aspect of this process is just gut wrenching experience. Although we also prepared a robust package, I fear also an RFE.  At times an RFE seems obvious for some that report it.  For others, it appears random.  If the process was not so incredibly slooooooow RFE's wouldn't be scary for anyone that has nothing to hide.  But the RFE now feels like a punishing sledge hammer after waiting 17 months for something that should take just 90 days.

All I can say is jump on the RFE once you know what they are looking for.  Don't stew on it.  Don't look back.  RFE replies are processed relatively quickly as your case is on someone's desk now.  Soon this entire nightmare called "the legal immigration process" will be in the review mirror. In the end, although it may not feel like it now, coming in the legal way is definitely better.  Hang tough.

  4. Biometrics Appointment added for 12/19/16.

EDIT - I didn't touch the font size when updating. Not sure why it looks so small now??

  6. Welcome, mdzcpa.

I had a look at your timeline and read your (horror) story with the CO for the CR-1 Visa...unbelievable!

Thank you for the warm welcome :)

Yes, that embassy interview will go down as one of the worst experiences of my life. To be honest, I've been dreading this Removal of Conditions process as my wife and I were kind of traumatized by the whole process of getting her here. Between the enormous waiting times, the RFE delay due to an error our attorney made on our submission, and that horrible interview at the embassy, we do not have a good taste in our mouth about the immigration process. We quickly forgot the demeaning treatment of the interview and have been so happy the last 2 years. So although the ROC should be no big deal, we still get a little queezy over dealing with the USICS.

That all said, we hope this goes well for us and everyone here with us on this next step. Smartly, we prepared the 751 ourselves...no need for attorneys to just mess it up LOL. I keep checking the bank each day to see those checks clear. It's only been 4 days but I'm already worrying. Seriously, the legal immigration process is not for the faint of heart! But like someone said above, we would do it all over again to be together :)

  8. I'm late replying here, but what you reported was totally normal. Takes about 2 weeks after the interview. Just keep checking the ustraveldocs site. It will soon say ready for pick up. They will also email you when your packet is ready if you provided a good email address at the time of the VAC appointment.

  9. A journey it has been. 14 months in the making. The waiting, stress and worry all behind us now. My wife and I return to the USA together this Sunday. We had some bumps in the road along the way with a disheartening RFE and we had to fire our incompetent attorney, but now that we reached the goal it all seems worth it.

I want to thank all my friends here on VJ. And all those that have gone before us, but remain here to volunteer their time to help others. Without this special group of people my wife and I would have had a much harder time. I learned so much here that we were able to take control from our attorney and make things right and finish the process with confidence.

To everyone still in the process... I know you've heard it a thousand times already, but hang in there. The waiting in long and grueling, but when you cross the finish line and your with your spouse or other family member, the bad fades away quickly and the joy is all consuming. Good luck to everyone on their journey.

  10. Passport in hand as well!! We picked it up yesterday at the MBE in Megacentro. I'm flying down tomorrow to spend a day with her and the family, then we return together Sunday!

    lliama&Amaury:

Was your passport and entry package in good condition when your husband picked it up? I ask because my wife's package looked like it had been run over by a truck. It did not come in a delivery envelope either. The yellow folder and passport were separate, and the yellow envelop was kind of torn up and partially open. It was not opened all the way so we can still use it to enter, but it was really disappointing to receive our package that way. A wrinkled mess. We think MBE did a terrible job.

  11. You should be able to schedule your appointment now. However when you are making your selections on the website, you need to be sure you are making the selection for scheduling an appointment at the visa application Center only. And make sure that you are selecting an appointment date at the VAC no more than 10 days prior to your interview date. I hope that clarifies.

  12. Call the VAC. They can schedule your appointment manually for you.

If you want to try again online, remember that when you have your P4 and interview date from the NVC you need to schedule ONLY for the VAC appointment no more than 10 days before your interview. You need to select those choices carefully or you will get an error. Make sure you are scheduling only the VAC appointment and your date is no more than 10 days before your interview at the embassy.

Also, double check you have entered the case number correctly (SDOXXXXXXXXXX).

  13. Thank you so much everybody. Has anybody else been notified that there passport is ready yet?

Congratulations! I know it must be very exciting to have your passport in hand and ready to travel!!

My wife is still waiting. CEAC said the visa was "issued" last week Tuesday. The good news is that the Passport Tracking system on ustraveldocs website changed today from "your passport is at the embassy" to "your passport has been received from the consular section and is currently being processed for delivery." We hope that means it should be at the MBE store in Megacentro soon.

  14. I think you already received good information above.

I believe your husband just didn't like that you judged his boss to be ugly. Not because he is his boss, but because you cared enough to form an opinion. I love the DR and my new family there. I love the Dominican people in general as they are usually happy even when circumstances are tough. But, on the whole, Dominicans can be very jealous. Much like most latino people. I believe your husband gave you a rough time about using "feo" as he doesn't want you to even notice if another man is handsome or ugly. In the DR feo is just ugly.

Guapo can mean someone that likes to fight or has had practice defending themselves on the street. Street smart as well. However, guapo in the DR can definitely mean handsome as well. It depends on the context.

Sounds to me like your husband is not comfortable with you passing any judgments on the looks of other men.

  15. Hey guys. Our interview was on January 23. On January 28 the CEAC status changed to ISSUED. Still waiting for the embassy to deliver things to MBE. I have a feeling they do things in "batches" and not necessarily when cases are ready for the next step This sucks :(

  16. I know this is a bit off topic, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this website and everyone who is here. There is no doubt the support I received here not only kept my process on track (I knew more than my crappy attorney), but the folks here kept my spirits up and my reduced my anxiety. Saylin's NVC thread, Soloenta's venting thread, and this great thread by dwheels76 were all life savers. This community is something quite special. I'm in the home stretch now just waiting and praying for my wife's passport to be delivered with her visa, but I'm going to hang around VJ awhile and help others if I can. I'm no expert but I'm willing to share what I have learned...especially a few things specific to the DR.

  17. Our interview date was much later, on Friday last week January 23. Obviously we are still waiting too. The only thing we noticed was that the CEAC website showed the case updated today on January 27 but it still says Administrative Processing which has said since the 24th. We have heard it is normal for CEAC to report administrative processing for a few days before being issued.

What does your CEAC status show?
