  1. Hello VJ Members:

OK, so my Mom, got her visa on April 5th, 2013, and she will be coming this FRIDAY!!!! she has the sealed envelop and the passport with her visa, also she was given this document with the A#.. number assign to pay the $165.00 before entering the US.

My question is , will she become a US Resident and will she get her Green Card on the mail and Social Security? or do I need to file another form so that way she'll become US. Resident? I've been reading about the I485 status change? but I'm not sure.

Please can someone give me clarity on this?

    Thanks again.

OK. so My mother had her interview on March 20th, in Lima Peru, she recieved a 221g, she was missing one document, she sent it next day with her passport.on the CSC says that the passport arrived on march 22nd. So I've been checking the website everyday and until this morning CEAC showed that it was under AP, but later I checked it again and it said READY and also that she needs another interview throug the U.S. Consular area.

Now I called the DOS or (202)663-1225 number and the lady told me that my mom's visa was approved and she will recieve her passport =, that to not make any plans or reservations (to late I already did and had to rescheduele do to this one paper that I forgot to send) anyways.

    My questions are:

Even thou the website says wait for interview, is this means that she has to go again to the embassy?

How long you think it would take??

If the lady at DOS told me that she was approved I have nothing to worry about??

Sorry people for to many questions, this process can be a little bit complicate it. I need all your knowledge

    Thank you sooo much

  3. Hello VJ members:

Well my mother had her interview on march 20th, and I made the mistake on not double checking the right documents, so in her interview they told her that she was missing the Judicial certificate at national level.. anyways, they gave her all the original documents back, and gave the yellow slipt with the direction (send passport and document) and then she had to register in the peru.usvisa-info web site.

She sent the documents throug DHL the next day and it shows that everything arrived at the embassy on March 22nd,

I've been checking the website and DHL tracking number or WAYBILL, but nothing. Can I call DOS, would they be able to give any info?

I also read that it is a good sign since she wasn't completly denied but I'm dying here,

Does anyone knows how long usually will take, do you guys think that she will get the visa?? I already bougth the airplane ticket (yes.. big no no) but it was on special.

    I appreciated your comments.

  4. My mother had her interview today at the Lima Peru Embassy, I sent ALL the documents that they request, and even when they sent me the check list I wasn't missing anything. WHen she got there, the told her that she was missing the JUdicial Penal Antecedents , but again I sent that. Now they also said that the reason could be that It expiried.

Now she has to get that document again and send it with her passport to the NVC and wait about a month, does anyone has had this expirience before??

    Thanks

  5. Hello to everyone. Ok, so I finally recieved the civil documents from my mom in Peru and I'm about to send it to the NVC

    Mom's birth certificate

    Mom's divorce papers

    My birth and marriage certificate

    Police records

    Penal records

Copy of her passport and revalidation

2 pictures 2x2 with case number, name, DOB and ID number

Also I need to send a letter explaining that there's a mistake on her name and needs to be correct it, with copies of ther Birth certificate and Passport

Also NVC send me a letter saying that I made a mistake filling the I864a, I made the changes, but I don't know if I need to submit the I864 (my as a sponsor) and again our tax transcripts?.

Do I need to write a letter with the list of the documents that I'm sending?? plus the cover letter with the bar code of the case??

Thanks for your help in advance

  6. you cannot sponsor them for a tourist visa, they have to prove ties to their own country and financial ties on their own merits. one application per person.

Why you just do your citizenship first, it takes about 5 months, and after that u can filed a petition for your mom and your sister, because as a permanent resident you dont have any legal rights.

And for your mom will be very fast, for your sister you may have to wait 10+ years, she can try to apply for a tourist visa but she has to proof that she has important things in her country to come back.

How long you have been a PR?

  7. I'm doing the petition for my mother, she is in Peru, the problem is that she doesn't have her vaccination certificate, Is there that she can go first before the medical exam for the embassy, and have the vaccines taken somewhere else (cheaper) because I was reading , each vaccination is like 140 dollars. Maybe get her regular doctor to do a waiver? I think she only needs mumps, hepatitis B and difteria. Or the doctor will make her have the vaccines again just to charge her all that money

And does anybody knows how much is the medical exam these days?

I really can't afford more than $500 just in medical stuff

    Need your experiences pleaseee

    Thanks

  8. Hello All,

I am a US citizen and I have filed an I-130 petition for sponsoring my mother for her GC. My mother is an Indian citizen and we filed the I-130 on Aug 2012 at the Vermont Service Center. The petition is still pending.

Also, I have been contemplating a change to my last name (I am a guy and the name change is not triggered by marriage). I would like to do this as soon as possible.

My questions for the group are as follows --

    1. Is it advisable for the petitioner to change his last name after filing the I-130?

    2. Has anyone done this? If so, is there a process that you followed?

    3. Is there a form that one fills out for name change of the petitioner?

    Many thanks in advance.

Lets see, if you are thinking to change your name you could do it in the Social Security Office, but them you have to change your passport, ID, and your citizen certificate, so I recommend you to keep it that way until your mom comes here.

Since you put the I10 already, to probe that you are a US citizen all your documents are with the last name you have right now, then later you will have to submit probe of your last name change that only will delay the process.

When you send the documents to probe the relationship with your mother you sent your birth certificate, and when you submit her documents they have to be the same. If she changes her name again she will have to submit more documents, see what I mean?

When I became a US citizen I changed my last name, but still I had to probe the relationship with my mother and submit my old passport (from my country) with my old last name, and the document saying that I did when I became a citizen.

Wait until she is here and gets here green card. You don't want to make this process long

    Good Luck!

  9. Hello, I'm a US citizen, and I filed a petition for my mother in Peru. I'm currently umemployed, although I worked 7 months, so I was able to make some money this year. My husband is the head of the household (and the one that makes all the money) we riched the 125% of poverty level. I'm sendind our transcrips from IRS from the past 3 years.

    No my questions is:

In question 22 I put that I was unemployed

question 23 is current individual anual income, I put what I made while I was working, or should I put 0 since I'm not making any money.

And my last question is for my husband the head of household in his 864a, does he needs to provide a letter from his job and paystubs? or with the Tax transrips is ok?

    Thank you for your answers

  10. Today I recivied the packaged from the NVC with the AOS processing Fee Bill Invoce and also the form DS-3032.

My questions are: After I pay the AOS fee, should I send the form 864 ready or should I wait until NVC sends me the form to fill it out. Or should I fill the form 864 and send it to my mother.

Then the form DS 3032 is to choose an agent, now I'm my mother's petitioner, but should I sent this form to her so she can fill it out, or will she get anything on the mail. ( She is in Peru).

This is getting confuse, since I'm doing all the documents by myself since I can't hire a attorney.

I will realy appreciated all your help and guidance through this process.

  11. Hello everybody.

I'm a US citizen, and I filed a petitn for my mother, she's in Peru, USCIS recived the application form I130 on July 16th, they cashed the check, and I know that soon they will be asking for the affidavit.

I started working again six months ago and I know that probably is not enought to show that I can finacially take care of my mom. My husband makes good money and according to USCIS he makes enough money to sponsor 10 people.

Now since I request my mom, I'm the sponsor, but how do I do the affidavit, I was reading that my husband has to file another form, He claims me and our 2 children, I don't claim anybody in my taxes.

Can somebody please explain to me how do file all this forms, since I can't afford go to a inmigration lawyer ( I'm trying to save as much as I can to bring my mom here).

    Thanks for your help.
