  1. My fiancé and I have talked bout this briefly in the past. I don't have much understanding about the retirement system in China but she explained to me that there was a way to resign from her company but still continue to make the monthly contributions to her retirement fund (I guess similar to our social security) that would allow her to receive her entitled benefits once she reaches retirement age. She is in her early 40s as I am and has been working for the same company for over 20 years. I am thinking we will eventually go back to China and retire there, so I see the opportunity of continuing to pay her retirement dues as a good investment. In addition compatible to US standards it is not much per month, so I plan to help her pay for this. Not sure if this applies to your particular situation but it is worth having your fiancé look into it.

    Best wishes to you.

  2. Thanks for sharing your story. In my view this visa process is really hard, challenging and demanding, particularly for Chinese women. I am in the middle of it with my fiancé and as I am sure many of you know it can take a toll. My fiancé is a successful professional with nearly 20 years of working experience working for a multi billion dollar firm. She lives close to her family, has a beautiful apartment and healthy life. I must say it was quite a learning experience for me, what she had to go through in pursuit of love. For example, I think many people simply do not understand what it means in China to renounce party affiliation and going against the complex cultural values and traditions. Navigating the legal system in China simply to get a birth certificate can be very frustrating. I think that if your fiancé is responding in such a way, it is for a reason and I think you know. My suggestion for you is to be as supportive as you can to your loved one. Care and nurture her. If you can, go and be at her side. Guide her through the process and give her hope. If things work out, you will have a companion for life that will love you dearly, and stand next to you no matter what in the finest as well as most difficult moments, for the rest of your life.

  3. Hi there,

My fiancé had her interview on May 9th and we are on additional "administrative processing" and waiting three months after. It took us about to weeks to receive notice after sending P3. Based on our experience I would take timelines with "a grain of salt". This process is definitely not a one size fits all. I fully understand the gut wrenching feeling of waiting. My advice is not to worry, be patient and try to relax. Hard to do but I found the hard way that living with the anguish of waiting it is not helpful and only creates a lot of stress. Furthermore, you're at somewhat the beginning of a long process, so there is more to come.

    My best wishes to you.

  4. Yes! this is absolutely correct. Once you are issue an A number is yours for life and will actually follow you through your permanent residence and citizenship application processes. The A number is what is used to locate your immigration file so it must be used whenever is requested. Leaving it blank or admitting you don't have one can actually create problems.

  5. Not necessarily, the truth of the matter is no one knows what is under review and just like it may something on her end, it may be something on your end as well. I trend I have seen however, is that once the review is complete the visa is granted. If something was completely wrong with the application it would have been caught by now and the visa denied. I think it is just a matter of patience and utilize the time to get know your baby better. Worrying about the outcome only makes white hair.

  6. I totally understand what you are going through. I stumble on the site searching for answers myself while experiencing the same situation. This is my very first post after sorting through a lot of information. My fiancé had her visa interview three months ago and was given the dreaded blue paper saying her case required additional processing. It is uncertain how long administrative processing last as it depends on the case, and what is under review. Your fiancé will received notification by regular mail on the outcome of the review and instructions on what to do next. You can check on the status of your case by emailing the consulate office in Guangzhou.
