  1. Most airlines require that the passport and ticket are in the same name, check with the airline, some have suggested carrying the marriage certificate but my own experience of this was refusal of travel.

    Good luck.

    Hi Madden,

Can you please expand on your comment? I wasn't planning on changing my Aussie Passport from my maiden name - was this a problem for travel with you? I am planning on booking my ticket in my maiden name.

    Thanks in advance,

    CJ

  2. Glad it came through without any issues! Congrats to you again and enjoy your time away from USCIS!

Thank you KASH! You nailed it when you said enjoy your time away from USCIS. The feeling is like having the most massive weight lifted and something only those who travel this path would truly understand. Without VJ I would have struggled unnecessarily. Thank you to you, and those like you, who care enough to support and encourage us through your own experiences - you rock!!

Sending vibes of speedy USCIS processing to all who are waiting....

  3. Congrats! Did you get the tracking number in your online USCIS account? Did you get any update at all after the approval update? Thanks!

Yes, the tracking information was supplied via the online case status update, it wasn't quoted in the email. I was notified when the card was picked up from the production place in KY and again once it was delivered to my mail box...cool hey ? I tracked that bad boy all the way to its new home....lol

  4. Hello there!!

I have been keeping an eye on this thread, however this is my first entry - thank you everyone for your contributions!!

Today I received notification that my I-751 was approved and that a new card was being ordered!! (Yay) My timeline is as follows:

    I-751 - 01/13/16 (CSC)

    NOA1 - 01/15/16

    Biometrics - 02/11/16

    Approved - 07/20/16

Not long now for many of you - may the wind be at USCIS's back!!!

    Best wishes,

    CJC

  5. Im so glad things are going well for you! sounds like a blissful marriage and life! :)

Things my end are also going well, I'm still studying (boo) my exams are in July and I can't wait until its over so i can start working. Im enjoying learning though, it hasn't been that long since i left school anyway so its been easy to get back into it (just hope i pass!)

NYC is really really incredible, its like being in a movie sometimes and overwhelming at how much is going on in this city. I def never want to leave! lol i think i prefer it in here so much more than london but maybe thats because I'm finally with my husband! marriage is pretty awesome, makes me wonder why i didn't do it sooner!

I've gained about 6 pounds since moving, i can't keep my hand off the food, I've never had anything like it! pizza, mexican, pasta...i can't get enough! lol good thing chocolate is bad here...at least thats one less thing to worry about!

    :)

Oh my, the time has flown by since your post and with work being so full on, just getting back to you now!

I am so happy to hear that things are going so well for you also - blessings to be sure and everything in its time. I had to laugh when you said 'boo' exams...I am certain you will do great, even better than you think...you will be delighted with your results, you'll see :)

Omg, I groaned when you mentioned putting on weight...yup, me too..lol...sigh.....whilst the chocolate and coffee here doesn't hold a candle to that of home, I no longer mind, my tastebuds have completely assimilated...Imao...yep, I am a goner....!!

Have a wonderful Spring weekend with your Hubby....live and love every moment.... :)

  6. Hello All,

Not many people remember me - I haven't posted since April 14, our interview date.

I think I posted that the interview went well, but I didn't get the decision on the spot, b/c there was something missing from the packet. It turned out that uscis never sent my approved I-130 (submitted separately earlier) to the local office. It might have been our mistake that we didn't notify anyone there about the letter of approval, we just assumed that such information is shared within the same institution. Anyway, pairing the two petitions postponed the decision by 3 weeks, so I got my GC my GC in the third week of May.

I hope yours have arrived too and if they haven't, I'll keep my fingers crossed for all January filers!

    Hey Jannapa...I remember you too!

Thanks for the update and congrats on your GC :)

All the best to everyone waiting.....not long now is my hope for you all... :)

  7. Hey CJC, how is life with a GC? Its nice to see you back here!

    Malealpha, nurseling...where is everyone??

Congrats to those who were approved!

As for interview letters, join the club :) Hopefully none of us will have too long of a wait! Its been about three weeks since got ours - still at acceptance stage. If I get an update, you guys will be the first to know!

    Hey Topoftherock!

So nice to hear from you! I hope you have been keeping well? Sorry to hear you are still waiting for that GC....fingers crossed you hear soon my friend.. :)

I started a new job this week, I am so grateful and thankful. It will definitely assist with all that goal setting I have been doing in my spare time over the last 6 months...he he

It has to be said that with each passing day, I am not only falling more in love with my Hubby, but the USA also. I have experienced so much warmth and kindness from all I have met since I arrived here last year, and it isn't just from peeps either...Mother Nature has been generous with Spring too...!

So my Hubby, Mother Nature, and the USA are on the honor roll. That's my report card....lol lol

Will love to read yours when you have time..

    Take care, stay safe.

    cjc :)

  8. I got an email from USCIS that they've sent my EAD on may 12 2014 to my address but I haven't received an update for a tracking number and I haven't received anything in mail yet, is that normal.???

    Hi Eliasitoy

Not really normal, but no reason to panic or stress. I received my initial email notifying me they sent my EAD, then 24 hrs later, another email stating the tracking information (which I could only read on the CEAC site for some reason).

I suggest (if you haven't already of course) to manually check the CEAC website for an update in the first instance. If no tracking info there, call USCIS (speak to tier 2) on Monday to see of they can provide an update for you.

Highly unlikely it has been lost in the mail....likely scenarios are they haven't either sent it yet or they have and you just didn't get the tracking info.

Hopefully you'll get your answers soon. It will all work out in the end, as it has done for most people :)

    Take care

  9. Thanks so much for the reply, R&IJourney, it's nice to know there's someone with a similar timeline at the same local office as me. My husband (petitioner) sent a letter to our Congresswoman to alert her to the backlog at Chicago. I'm not expecting/feeling entitled to any special treatment, that wasn't the intention, we just thought that she should be aware of how far behind the processing time goals Chicago is. I'll be sure to post in this forum when we receive our interview date. We're hoping it will be before July, as I'm going abroad for a month or two this summer and would love it if I didn't need to reschedule the interview due to a clash. Good luck!

Hey ajhigh....R&IJourney makes a great point about the processing times via USCIS not being entirely spot on. If I was to go by my local office's processing times, I shouldn't have had my interview until around September this year, yet I had my interview a week ago. So you just never do know, you might be pleasantly surprised yet :) Additionally, you might even have your interview waivered at this stage of the game - which looks like the notifications of such are starting to happen on those too....(yay for vbtwo!!)

There are also quite a number of people who have received notification that they will be interviewed however they are yet to receive their dates. Anybody's guess really and lots of reasons to bite your nails to the quick and check your status update a freakishly obsessive amount of times.....lol

I have to say that the processing time for Chicago being so close to a year wait justified the letter to the Congresswoman - for everyone's sake.

Hang in there matey....I really hope you hear good news, soon as. :) Good luck!

  10. Received a letter dated April 10 saying that we are an interview waiver case. It's both good and bad: we don't need an interview (yay!) but it'll take around 6 months or so (boo!) according to what the letter says to receive the green card.

Are we the first interview waiver here for January? Anyone else got one?

Really great news vbtwo....I have been reading here on VJ (as you do...lol) that many people who have received an interview waiver letter end up receiving their GC's a month or so after.....fingers crossed this happens for you too :)

  11. Priority date Feb 2. Received EAD yesterday. Interview May 8th.

This is great news for you Fern411, all the best for your interview next month :)

Hi guys, if anyone is interested, I had my AOS interview in Phoenix last Tuesday (04.08.14) with my husband. They asked me some legal questions ("have you ever been convicted of felony" etc) and then asked to see more proof of ongoing relationship. I showed them our wedding and honeymoon albums and they loved it. They approved me on the spot! All in all, it took less than 10 minutes! My green card is now in production, yay! :) :)

    Congratulations smtha81...yay for you! :dancing:

    hi all,

i just came back from the interview..........so now i am waiting again. hopefully not for long!

    best of luck to all!

Hi Jannapa....congratulations on being as far along as you are :)....Hopefully you don't have to wait long to get that GC!

Thank you everyone for being so helpful. What a great resource this forum is for people to get through this process. We just wanted to post another update to our timeline:

Hi pwrinxs - congratulations to you. You are set to go! All the best with everything.....probably will see you in about 21 months time for the ROC....lol :)

To everyone waiting, it won't be long now....keep your chins up and all the best with finding work and settling into your new lives here :) For those of you (like myself) who are taking driving lessons and tests - good luck! beep beep....lol

  12. I did not receive any interview date for GC. Does everyone receive an interview or is it selective? Just want to be sure we didnt miss any mail

Hey Our Destiny....not everyone receives an interview, there is a 50/50 chance that you will have one.

It looks like it is a waiting game for you for the time being. I really hope not for long though :)

    Take care..

so happy for everyone that received their EADs and passed their GC interviews!!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Good job CJC!!!! Im so happy for you!!! Way to go MaleAlpha!!! And Nurseling, so sorry you had to threaten those uscis peeps with your whip, but it all went well in the end coz you got your EAD within this week so thats grand!!!!

As for us, we got our EADs in the mail last 4/9. There was a slight hiccup as my son's got sorted at the wrong area and we had to pick his up at that other usps office so we can all apply together for SSN. We were running late and hoped for a miracle that we get processed soon and what do you know, the SSA office was completely empty when we got there!!!! What were the odds? Needless to say, we got my 2 kids' papers saying that the SSN card would be mailed out in 1-2 weeks and my SSN is good to go and need not be changed anymore since it is on my married name already and has a note saying VALID for WORK with DHS authorization which the lady said would be my EAD...so it was all good!

Thanks guys for sharing your driving test experiences as that would be helpful for my kids when they do take theirs later in 4/22.

Now, i am off to go job hunting!!! So exciting! Wish me luck guys!!!

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!!

Good luck Matey, thanks for the well wish too..:)

  13. So so happy for you!!! I'm glad it all went smoothly. That GC will arrive in no time at all! Congrats to you and your partner, party time!

I hope you still hang around this thread, if not we will miss you :(

Thanks so much topoftherock! I also appreciated your earlier message of encouragement too, thank you.

Oh yes, we are celebrating tonight indeed...I am so grateful! I feel like the weight of the world has lifted, only those who travel these roads would truly understand, so I am not going anywhere :)

Have fun on your travels too. You might want to check your luggage for stow away Nurseling...lol

  14. Hey CJC don't you fret you will be just fine your green card will be in your hand within a blink of a eye tomorrow.if they don't give it to you tell them nurseling is coming to whoop their #### lol. Can I say #### here? Lol.

I guess not cos I got the #### covering it hahaha

I guess not cos I got the #### covering it hahaha

Hey Nurseling....oh how you make me laugh...lol.....The interview is over and all approved now. Thank the twinkling stars.

I am completely exhausted. I have poured so much energy (the good stuff) into getting this out of the way smoothly and now I feel like taking a very long nap....lol

Where is your EAD I say? Little varmint should have already made it to you by now.....but for sure you will have it in time for HR to take a peek. When you get it, try not to mix it up with your credit cards, you can't buy smiles with these....ha ha

Oh my, today I ended up (by mistake) on the busiest hwy in Wisi....there were cars and trucks flying past me like they were launched out of cannons.....I love OnStar....it has become like the 9th wonder of the world, after the 8th wonder of .....'how the heck did I get here in the first place...' ha ha

Also, I am in love with your walking machine and the places it takes you. I am going to put that on my Christmas list...I have 'walking machine envy', so you know...lol

Hope you hear soon Nurseling :)

  15. Greetings Awesome People

Well what a week it has been for me (and all of us no doubt)!

Had my interview today and everything went well. The interview went for about 4 minutes with most of the questions being directed at Hubby which related to the I-864.

I wasn't asked for proof of anything, which though being rather fabulous, it was a small downer because I had prepared a lovely presention folder complete with tabulations and hot pink sticky notes.....lol

Whilst our interview wasn't 'approved on the spot', the IO (very serious fellow who we did manage to make laugh - albeit a teeny one) said that my GC will most likely be approved and that I will be advised in writing in about 30 days or so. He didn't ask for my EAD and I didn't offer it up either (needed it for SSN...he he)

Well about 30 mins ago I received a text/email from USCIS saying the GC was in production....so for all intents and purposes, I have made it into the next round.....yay and huzzah! :dancing:

Thanks again to everyone for their support to date - this forum has saved my sanity countless times, we all rock here...lol

Now the fun begins in finding work!

For everyone waiting, hopefully not long for you now. You are in my thoughts and vibes of making stuff happen :)

  16. Yaay! Just got my first job offer in a software development position. Pretty intense hiring process (4 rounds of interview including technical tests and 2 phone screens) but it was worth it. Doing my drug screen tomorrow, 04/10/2014 and starting on monday. I'm excited! Thank God. Now I can patiently wait on the green card inteview date.

Awesome! congrats.....i am so happy for you...!! Long road, but got there in the end.

My intvw is tomorrow, nervous as...been running around like a mad woman all week...took a peek in here and what such good news for you MaleAlpha.

Congrats to everyone with good news too....and all having their drug tests...Nurseling...lol....hope that EAD arrives tomorrow too.

    To infinity and beyond!!
