Looks like my service request worked!
Just received an email:
"The last processing action taken on your case
Receipt Number: MSCxxxxxxxx
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production"
On June 29, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. "
Hurray!

Hi!
Does anybody know what it means:
"The status of this service request is:
MSC-XXXXXXXX
On June 25, 2013, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your I-485 to notify us that you believe your case is outside of our normal processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.
Your petition is still pending consideration. We regret that we are not able to give you a timeframe for when we will complete the review of your petition/application.
What You Can Do
Please see the "Online Services" below to check the status of your case in the near future. We apologize for the delay.
We hope this information is helpful to you"I put a service request in on Wednesday as it looked like my case was past normal processing time (Cleveland Office is already working on mid-November cases) and that's the answer I received back from them. Should I be worried or is it just a regular BS they tell everybody?

Keep us posted about the results!

I'm not sure if checking the field office processing time is 100% reliable. I just checked mine (Cleveland,OH) and it says 4 months (updated March 22)... I submitted my AOS in October, had my biometrics mid October, received the combo card the beginning of December so my understanding is that my case should have been processed at the end of February at the latest... But I haven't heard anything since December!
-
Good question! Mine was based on the EAD so it's valid for a full year, I'm surprised its not the case for you...
-
That's a great Christmas gift! Congrats

being at the NBC if youre a K1 filer isnt necessarily bad news. When youre a K1 filer theres no way to know if youre going to get selected for an interview (I like to think its a 50/50 chance- I think I remember reading that somewhere but i dont remember where...) the point is, you can be approved directly from NBC with no interview. If your case gets forwarded to a local center, it will be updated online reflecting that, then you can put on the face while you wait for them schedule your interview if they are so far behind.
So try not to stress too much about what the local centers are doing until you know for sure your case has been transferred to one.
That's exactly what I thought. I just wonder how long will it take the NBC to give their final approval. I read that before when some applications were transferred to California Service Center it took months before the GC was issued... I hope it's not the same case at the NBC!
Anyway, with the EAD/AP combo card in hand the life gets so much easier that you can almost feel like a semi-permanent resident!

My husband's says the same thing about the National Benefits Center.
So does mine
-
Don't worry, mine didn't require a signature
-
I didn't receive any notice prior to the card. The last letter I got from USCIS was the biometrics appointment.
-
That's exciting news! I was glancing at your timeline and it looks like it took 8 days for you to get your card in hand after approval... My husband was approved yesterday for EAD & AP and we've desperately tried to get the actual card expedited so that we can leave the country on Fri evening. We didn't have any luck at our info pass appointment this morning, so all we can do is continue to call and ask for the tracking number so that we have some idea of when it will be arriving. I pray it won't take 8 days!
I actually received a special status email update on 12/10 saying The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on December 10, 2012. You should receive your new card within 7 days. So it means it only took them two days to ship the card, it arrived in a USPS Priority Mail envelop but unfortunately I didn't see any tracking number on it... Fingers crossed you'll get it by Friday!

I received my EAD/AP combo card today SO happy! It feels so weird to finally have some proof of my legal presence in the US. Now time for update regarding the interview/GC!
-
Congrats to everyone who got their status updated!
USPS picked up my card from USCIS yesterday, I should have it so soon! I'm passing my driving test tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to get a DL for a full year if the EAD shows up on time!
-
Those of you who have discovered you were approved for EAD/AP, did you receive a text or email notification? Or did you only find out by checking your case status online? Our cases never made it into the online system so the only way we can get an update is if we call and sit in a queue for an hour.
I received both text and email confirmation. I'm pretty sure it'll be the same for you, it seems like they repaired this infamous glitch in their system!
My case is quite unusual because EAD is already in production (since last Tuesday) but the AP status says: On December 4, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we certified our approval of this case and sent it to the appropriate appellate body for review. They will notify you directly when they make a final decision. Did any of you receive a similar message regarding either EAD or AP?

Thanks!
First,I called the congressman's office for instructions. Then I filled out a casework authorization form (found on his official website) and faxed it in along with the offer letter, the NOA1 for I-765 and the stamped biometrics appointment letter.

Hi everyone,
A small update from my side. Last Friday, I turned to my congressman for his assistance in expediting the EAD application process (I received a really good job offer). On Monday I received a phone call from his office saying that they touched base with the MSC and put their request in regards to my case. Yesterday evening around 5PM I received an email saying:
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production
On December 4, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you
I took less than 3 working days to have my case updated! It means that I will be able to accept the job offer I start there once I receive the EAD! Reaching out to your congressman when you have a serious reason to have your pending application expedited seems to work just fine!
Also, I went to a local DMV to inquire about the possibility to get my DL now (before the arrival of EAD which might easily take up to 10 days) and they were perfectly OK with that. Got my vision and knowledge test taken care of on the spot and am taking the skills test next Wednesday! Finally I will be able to have a US-issued ID.
So happy

I went to my local USCIS office and unfortunately, they weren't too much of help. The lady I spoke with told me that a local office can only collect all copies of my documentation (an offer letter, biometrics appointment notice etc) and mail them to the USCIC office address. They have no power to impact the decision on expediting my EAD and they cannot guarantee my request will be successful. She advised me to mail it on my own and that would be the quickest way.
To speed things up I decided to turn to my congressman and I already received an initial confirmation that he might be able to help me out. I'll see how it goes!
-
Good to know, thanks. I guess you'd need a letter from the future employer to expedite the process, right? Any idea of how long it should take to get EAD with an expedite request?
Yes, you'll need an offer letter to justify your request, otherwise you'll be denied on the spot. An infopass could work or you might call the USCIS Customer Service. You can find more info here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=16a6b1be1ce85210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
Also, last resort option is contacting your congressman. iIf you have a solid case, they'll be willing to help you out and I've heard of many cases where they succeeded!
Good luck

good luck with bio.its not immigration related but i got my drivers license today. . Now just need EAD to look a job
Lucky you! I need my EAD to apply for a US driver's license, now I'm using my EU one...
BTW, I just got a job offer so I set up an InfoPass appointment for Thursday in a local USCIS office to see if they could expedite my EAD, fingers crossed!

I had my passport and the appointment notice.
Girls should also bring a marriage license if they have the ID in maiden name and the notice in married name.
Also, make sure you don't have any electronic devices with you.
-
In my case biometrics appointment was 2.5 weeks after NOA1, I think it's pretty standard. You might try doing an early walk-in if you don't want to wait, lots of offices allow you to do that, including mine!

I am very pleased with Concentra Medical Center in Akron, OH. I went to this particular place, based on a few positive reviews I found on this site and I wasn't disappointed!
The appointment was set up by my husband, he experience some trouble explaining to people at the reception that I don't need a full medical exam, just the vaccination chart (AOS from K-1), they seemed clueless, but once he got to talk with Dr. Benson, the conversation went smoothly, he was very helpful and quickly verified the fee (a reasonable $43).
On the appointment day, the receptionist struggled yet again to understand what I wanted so she made me fill out and sign a tone of forms necessary for the full exam. Once I told her I didn't need to undergo a medical exam, she said it would be the doctor that would make the final call... Luckily, once I was called by a nurse, after an initial vision and blood pressure tests, she called Dr Benson. He is such a nice and friendly person! He apologized at least twice that I had to complete so many useless forms and then quickly filled out my vaccination chart. Since it was the beginning of October he gave me a flu shot ($25) and afterwards, I was given a sealed envelop + a copy for my records.
A very nice experience once you get to talk to the right person. A piece of advice for everyone: make the reception staff call Dr. Benson immediately once you show up to avoid the paperwork .

DJ, I know you're adjusting from a k1. Do you know if its normal to get your application forwarded to the Nbc I read somewhere that k1aos don't go there but ours did!
I'm also adjusting from K-1 and that's what I found in my case status: 'Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location' so I guess that makes the two of us

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting !
