  1. The same thing happened to my fiance. He had his interview and was given a slip and told to come bakc in 2 weeks. WHen he returned he was told his file went into Administrative Processing for the required additional background checks by the FBI ( because he was from one of the 26 countries known for terrorism). WHich was 3 months long. His interview was in December and the Administrative Process was complete and his visa was granted in March but he did not receive his stamped passport until April due to the fact the COnsulate was short staffed.

YOu can call the USCIS directly or the State Department and they will give you status updates, which is what I did, they are very nice and helpful.

  2. For those going through processing in Algiers, has anyone communicated with the embassy through their IV-DV email address? I recall before it used to be just the one email address for all visa inquiries, ConsularAlgiers, and always generated an auto-reply (preceeding several weeks of waiting for an actual reply).

I just sent my last email to the IV unit one and didn't get an auto-reply message-- just wondering if anyone here gets real-person replies from that IV-DV address?

I have a direct email to one of the Consulate Agents. If it is urgent and you have not heard from, so what I did, contact your state senator and they will help you out. Mine did, he sent a message to the COnsulate on April 9 and APril 10 the Consulate had his file completed and mailed by UPS.

(email edited out of public thread for security reasons - please send PM request to poster instead for contact information)

I have received responses from them, though it wil take a week or too as they have told me they are short staffed.

So, Yugo..did the email you sent yesterday give an instant auto-reply before the real reply?? As Medroni mentioned, sometimes these emails float in a blackhole when they dont generate the auto-reply but... like you said, I don't wanna piss them off either sending too many emails :)

YOu have to stray on them! They will drag their heels if you dont. Their excuse is they are under staffed. My fiancee's visa was approved and printed and they confirmed on March 22, but his file isnt ready because they are short staffed. ( it has been 3 weeks since he was apporved) They FINALLY responded after my 10th email

  4. HI EVERYONE!

I just wanted to let all of you know my fiance got the visa on March 23! I am so happy right now =D

I honestly thought he wasn't going to get it because it was taking so long! We also set a date for the wedidng and its going to be August 11. I wish everyone the best and hope everyone else gets to experience this feeling.

I have a question, how long did it take for your fiancee to receive his passport from the US Consulate? My fiancee's visa was approved on March 22 and waiting for them to return his passport with his visa.

    Thanks

  5. How old is your fiance? If You don't mind me asking where is he from in Algeria? And how many times have you been over there? Just curious.

    *****************************************************************************************************************************************

I have visited Algeria once ( this past Nov). he is from Annaba and he is 24. In Algiers they tend to do things VERY slow!!! My case was very fast until it was sent to the US Consulate and that is where it slowed down.

  6. ...."mandatory Adminstrative Processing, as my fiancee is ( required for those citizens who live in the 26 Terrorist countries)" In response to this, I do know that it is good to go into your interview knowing it is likely that administrative processing will occur if you are from the MENA countries however my husband (fiance) did not recieve it. So to say Mandatory if you are from a "terrorist country" isnt completely accurate all the time.

We also used the USPS to mail most of our papers back and forth. Good Luck with everything.

    ***************************************************************************

Certain countries process faster and go through the checks faster, however some of those MENA countries such as ALgeria tend to take longer in the process and I have friends from Morocco whose visa's were approved faster.

The Department of State as well as my Senator told me that Algeria tends to take longer

  7. Yes it was, and the agent during the interview told him it could be another 60-120 days before he will be approved. The Department of State told me to keep calling back every day after 60 days to see if his case has been approved. Teh reason why he went into Administrative processing for the extra security check is because of the fact he is from Algeria, male in his 20s and has a muslim sounding name. That is what my Senator told me when I wrote to him seeking answers.

It has been 8 months and counting since we filed our paperwork and we hired an immigration lawyer. Must have lots of patience because it is hurry up and wait

  8. My fiance is in algeria, I will not be with him during the interview as I am very very far away, what things should he bring to the interview that I'd have to send him in advance?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

bring pictures, letters, phone records and be prepared if he has the female agent, she is very rude! Keep in mind he will not automatically get his visa, because he wil have to go through a mandatory Adminstrative Processing, as my fiancee is ( required for those citizens who live in the 26 Terrorist countries) My fiancee has been waiting 65 days and counting for his case to be moved from AP stage.

  9. I am applying for a K1 Fiancee visa and I am almost done filling all the paperwork needed in order to schedule an interview

At the Ciudad Juarez Consulate. I am in the process of filling forms i-134 and DS-156. My question is: Once I fill these forms an attach all proof required,

Where do I send these forms to? I am confused :(

If it is you who is scheduled for the interview, then you will bring both of those documents with you along with the other items on the checklist. My finace had his interview on Dec 10, and he was asked for the documents by the interviewing agent

  10. I need some insight and support guys.

Ive been following some of you with your posts and timelines, and quite a few of you received your NOA2 fairly quickly after the NOA1.

We still havent though:*( im starting to get nervous. We didnt get any RFEs or anything either which is a good thing obviously but

the fact the NOA2 isnt here yet is making me wonder have they or are they even looking at our petition? Ive called once recently, but

got the automated system which basically said the same thing that I see on the website, which says we're in the initial review stage.

    IM NERVOUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND SCAREEDDD :*(((

pleaseee tell me this usually how long it takes and I have nothing to worry about :( but than why are others' petitions being accepted

so quickly?:( not that I have a problem with them uniting as soon as possible but I would like to have my baby here with me like years ago:(

i dont know what to do how to chill or uggghhhhhhhhhhh is how I feel actually :( is there a number that I can call and talk to an actual person, not a damn machine.

Thank you for listening and any informative and supportive comments will be appreciated :(

I took me 5 months to receive my 2 NOA after my 1 NOA and that was only after I received approval to expedite my case due to medical reasons. Even with the Approval to expedite it is STILL taking me

over 7 months. It is a long process so you will have to be patient

  11. Ok i am a little confused. The DS156 and 156K forms, is that something i am supposed to print and send or will those be sent by the embassy to my fiancee for him to fill out?

In the case with my fiancee, the US Consulate in Algiers sent him an email in NOvember telling him he needed to fill out the DS156 and DS156K and to electronically send them the DS 156K and return the DS156 when he was called for his interview. I was able to pull the forms Visa Journey under the downloads tab. The only thing he received from the US COnsulate was an email with a checklist of items he needed to complete for his interview. YOU will find that you have to do all of the leg work and research.

I will tell you the US COnsulate in ALgiers are worthless!! They will not respond and will not help you in any way. I even made a trip out there in November to try to get answers.
