  1. Ok so this is my question ive been readin some topics but havent quite gotten a answer i needed.

My question is can you get a Driver License with a I-797c (NOA)? And how?

I dont have a SSN. But i called the DMV In Geaorgia where i currently live and they told just bring all your immigration paperwork and you can even

if i dont have a SSN.

Has anyone passed thru something like this?

    Thanks alot.

  2. My wife got her driver's license in Ga with her EAD and current passport. One of the forms used to prove where she lived was the I-797c that we received for AOS application.

I know each state is a little different. But with EAD, that proves you are here legally. Double check with Dept of Motor Vehicle website for your state for Alien resident requirements.

    :time: with EAD info

Hey I have a question I just got my I-797C(NOA) could I get a license with that I'm here in Georgia to please help me I would appreciate it.

  3. Hi Shabz,

We are in a very similar position as you. In California the DMV requires at least 90 days on her I-94 or they will not issue a Legal ID card nor allow her to take the Written driving exam.

I have posted one question about this. The woman at the California DMV said we need an I-797 with an I-94 stamped on it and an extension of the date before we could get an ID Card or let Audy take the driver's test.

I read some postings last night after searching this forum to tell you people have posted from Georgia that with the I-797C (NOA1) from the I-485 filing, they were then allowed to get the drivers license. I tried this in California and it did not work. California will accept the EAD card as lawful presence which is what they want to know before allowing her the benefits of the ID card or driver's license. But as we just filed for AOS I think the EAD card will be quite some time off.

Maybe you can check to see if Texas will accept the EAD or I-797C.

    Good luck

Hey I live in Georgia and a few moths ago I got my I-797C (NOA) can I get my driver license and where? Where did you see these posts at?

  4. Hi there. You won't have to take another driving exam in FL. You'll just need to take the vision test. I needed to wait until I had the I-797C (NOA) for my Adjustment of Status before I could apply, and then they gave me a temp license with a one year expiry date. Once I received my GC I took that with me at renewal time and I received the regular license. The clerk I had wasn't familiar with non-USC applications so I had to stand my ground on a few issues, as well as request an escalation to a supervisor. Some members have reported that they were given permanent licenses immediately. It appears each DMV office does things differently. As for ID, you'll need your SSN, current drivers license, passport, I-797C from the AOS, and two pieces of official mail addressed to you at your new residence. (bank statement, rental agreement, mortgage statement, utility bill, etc.) Don't let them confiscate your UK drivers license. Some offices have tried that.

One thing you can do until you can get your license is to apply for a Florida residency card before your I-94 expiry. This shows you are legal and will also get you resident discounts at the theme parks and some hotels. It also cuts down on any roadblocks when you go for your license.

On June 12, 2012, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION and request that the filing fee be waived. The filing fee has been waived and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. This case is being processed at our Intake Processing Center. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. -Then on June 21 I got a NOA Form I797c For my biometrics on July 18 2012.

-I went got them done really fast.(JUL 18)
