  1. Best option would be to get your birth certificate corrected, to match her passport and other documents. That way, she will not have to change any of her old documents. IF this is not an option, then you will have to take the path of having her documents match the name that is mentioned in your birth certificate.
Unless the names match, you will either get the process delayed or rejected. Indian affidavits confirming both names are of the same person are known not to impress immigration officers.

What is your mother's name mentioned as, in your passport?

  2. Hello VJ Family,

I finally was reunited with the love of my life, there is the best feeling to be with the one you love :)

POE was at Denver, I have updated it in the POE Review section.

Thank you everybody for the advice and support, I would not be here without you!

Now that I am here on IR-1, what should be my next step? Kindly help as you always have.

    Regards,

    Bali

  3. I would say, if she is being bullied and is not feeling comfortable, quit!

Her job status has no bearings on the visa's approval.

    My case:

I was serving my notice period when I attended the interview. I was never asked about my work.

I even booked the flight tickets before the interview, I would not recommend it, but it did not cause any issues for me. Everything will go fine, do not worry :)

  4. The person you spoke to is not a direct Embassy employee, he was from VFS. All calls are now attended by VFS and they just read the verbatim provided to them. They are as good as rock when it comes to getting information out of them...

You will not be allowed to attend the Interview, it would be of great moral boost to your man, but they will ask you to step away from the line before you enter the embassy. This is from my experience at the Mumbai consulate.

All the very best and hope you go back to US with loads of gifts and your husband too :)

  5. Thank you so much. I just checked the status and it says visa has been printed and it will be soon mailed to the pickup location selected. I am happy that finally we got the visa. Thanks again for the link.

    Welcome and congratulations!!!!

  6. Hello VJ friends,

My husband just had his CR1 visa interview today in Mumbai. They took all documents from him and informed him that they will notify him in 5 days. Unfortunately my husband did not question them why. I thought they would tell him the result whether it is approved, denied or need more documents. I am so confused and worried now.

Does anyone have any idea of why they are holding the documents with out telling the result. Please advice.

    Check your case status here:

  7. Thank you. I got my interview letter today. My interview is on Jan 15. I think next step is to get the medical done.

I heard there is something about VFS. Do we need to call mumbai consulate to make any arrangements?

    Congratulations!!

    Yes, next steps are:

Medical Exam (valid for 6 months)

Register with VFS website (mandatory since September 26, 2012)

  8. Bali-Ranae, I have a question, after your is completed at nvc, how long it took to get interview letter?

When they sent me the email about NVC case completion, they included the Interview date in the same PDF.

So, basically, once your case is complete at NVC, they send you an email with PDF stating that the case is complete and also give you the Interview date.

I have attached a masked snap shot of the relevant sheet, hope this helps.

    :wow: Congrats...

    Thank you :D

  9. HI VJ Family,

    Need your advice as always.

My Wife (USC) had sent in her Tax Return documents to the NVC with the I-864 forms.

Do I need to carry them again?

She is going to file for the Tax Returns in Jan again and my interview is on 29th Jan.

PS: The Interview letter from NVC states that "The required document has been received." for Financial Evidence

    Thank you!
