  1. You have good reason to be worried. Aside from Jack Nicholson who bought his wife the house next door, it's not accepted for a married couple to live in different cities, states, countries, or planets. One of you need to move. If you love your job, it's going to be her.

Yeah, it's so hard decision to make.

My wife and I lived in different states for the first year of the two-year conditional period (for jobs, like you), and we had no trouble with the ROC process - we didn't have to do an interview, we didn't even get a RFE.

But we also spent all our vacation time together, travelled overseas together during that period, and had plenty of other evidence that substantiated the genuineness of our marriage.

That's good new to hear. Can I ask you what kind of joint document did you send as an evidence?

  2. Hi everyone,

I'm sure that we all on here have discussed a lot about married couples living apart during the 2 year conditional green card period, but I want to ask you about my case since it's a little bit different.

I married my wife (US citizen) and I got a 2 year conditional green card last month. I recently got hired by airline company as a flight attendant and I might be based in another state. Even though our marriage is totally legit, my wife and I are worried that immigration won't be happy about us living apart. Of course I will be visiting my home as much as I can, probably 1-2 time a month, and I'm gonna file for base transfer to my home city if I'm based in another city. I heard that I-751 ROC interview can be waived for some cases but I'm not sure if I'm gonna have one later or not. I wonder if any of you have a similar situation just like me and my wife.

  3. My approval letter that i got after the marriage base AOS interview states wrong birth year. All my applications and receipts got my DOB right though. I called the USCIS 1-800 number, and the agent said that she filed to make a correction on my application and it should be updated within 15days. She gave me a confirmation code, but did i miss something from this call? I thought we are supposed to make an infopass appointment to change any info. Is this correction process will delay my green card production? I just wanted to make sure that approval letter was typo, but i guess i should wait. Hope I didn't mess up anything on my file or cause any delays.

  4. I had a marriage based AOS interview and the interview officer gave me a congratulation letter right after the interview. When I came home, I realized that my birthdate on the letter is wrong. My birth year is 1984 but it says 19848. Should I contact immigration, or since it's a hand delivery temporary letter, I can just ignore it?

  5. Hi, I wonder if marriage based 2 year conditional green card holder can work as an flight attendant hired by foreign airlines and traveling LA and Asia 3-4 times per month. (It's LA based and each trip will be 3-4 days.)

I know that we can freely travel abroad with conditional green card since it's same as 10 yr ones, but I wonder if it's ok to travel that much and spend almost half of the month abroad as a flight attendant. Please let me know if anyone (green card holder) works or worked as a flight attendant before.

    Thank you.

That's my interview experience. The interview itself last no more than 5 minutes. Very easy.

I read your post before but didn't know that that office was the same one that I'm going to have my interview located in Chatsworth. My interview is at 8:30am. It's too early morning but hope everything will go well.

  7. I'm in school for my MBA. As such, she asked when I'm in class, about taking and picking up my daughter from school, where my kids attend school...very simple things about daily life. She asked my husband the same questions. When I leave the house, when I come home, who is with me when I come home. Just normal things that you don't need to prepare for and will undoubtedly answer the same.

    Thank you

I guess I don't need to nervous about my interview that much. By the way, congrats on your interview. I guess all you need to do is just waiting for your GC.

  8. Hi all,

I filed for AOS after married my wife who is USC. We have our AOS interview scheduled on the 3rd week of Oct in Chatsworth, CA. My question is.....I gave up my F-1 status while I was waiting for my EAD card. I'm in graduate program. I already completed all the classes for my program but just needed one more semester to prepare for the grad exam at the end of this Nov so I just registered the 1 unit PE class with an International office's approval. The problem is that I missed that 1 unit PE class many times and I had to reinstate my I-20. (My instructor gave my grade as "class withdrawal without notice). My attorney said that it's ok to give up F-1 status since my AOS is filed and waiting for my interview.

I'm a bit worried that how or what should I answer at the interview if they ask me why I gave up my F-1 status. Please let me know if any of you have or had the same situation.

    Thank you.

  9. Hi everyone,

I and my wife married last Oct and waiting for our interview (I-485 AOS). I have a question about the financial support form (Affidavit of financial support form). I'm currently full time graduate student, and only my wife is working now. I get a money from my parents outside of country every month for living. In my case, do I need the affidavit of financial form from third person?

  10. Hi everyone. I filed for my AOS package on May 28th and got my EAD card on Aug11. Since then, my wife(USC) and I haven't had any updates. I heard that the Los angeles local office has one of the slowest processing time, but many people who filed after me and my wife already got their interview notice or even had an interview. I'm getting very worried now. Is it normal?

  11. Hi everyone,

I married my wife who is US citizen, and we filed our AOS on May29th. I still haven't got any scheduled interview letter yet. Many people, who filed their AOS around same time as I did, seemed to have interview notice or get it done already. Is it normal to take this long? We live in LA and our case is being processed at National Benefit Center (MSC). By the way, I got my EAD and AP card on May 13.

  12. Hi everyone,

I got a EAD card production and AP approval notice on Aug3. (I got an EAD card approval notice twice for some reason on Aug8)

Here's my question. My wife is going to Mexico for a week in the end of this month with her family. Is there any possibility that I will be receiving interview letter from USCIS saying my interview is going to be this month? I still haven't got any notice yet, and I'm very worried that my interview is going to be scheduled on the dates my wife is out of town. Is there anyone who got their interview in two to three weeks since they got a interview notice? I'm not sure but I think I've heard somewhere that USCIS gives us some amount of time until the interview since we get an interview notice.

Oh my another question is I still didn't get my EAD card since I got EAD card production notice. Do we get another EAD card mailed notification before we receive it?

I know it's all different case by case, but I'm wondering the current actual average processing time.

    Thank you
