  1. Applied for SSN today. Only had a slight delay as Americans forget Europe uses DD/MM/YYYY on passport instead of MM/DD/YYYY like in America. Once that was sorted out, no problems. Should get card in 4-7 business days!

  2. It was a long process. I guess we had it in our minds that it would be around 5 months, just like K-1. We didn't file AP or EAD, so no work for hubby until GC. Just got our approval so still need to get SSN and then look for jobs. It's tough just waiting and not knowing what's happening. Hopefully we can get his resume together, SSN ordered, and start looking for jobs in the next co...

  3. Ahh. Well if you still have family there after you leave maybe they can help you out with a certified one. I looked at my husband's BC and honestly it looks like something printed off the computer, lol.

  4. The only concern I would have is whether they question the authenticity of said document. That's why I suggest a certified copy (is it expensive?). Since you are still in Pakistan, it is far easier for you to get that information now, rather than submit the original and get an RFE asking for a certified copy. Maybe someone who has filed from Pakistan recently will see your thread. Best of l...

  6. Also, my husband is the Permanent Resident. He is going to start looking for a job as soon as we get the GC. Something in Software Programming as that's what he did in Berlin.

  7. Hi Julie, if you friend needs Senator intervention to assist, they should locate the Senator for their state online. I can help with that if needed. The US citizen should initiate the request on behalf of the Permanent Resident (or pending Perm. Resident). There should be a place on the website for Casework assistance. Let me know which state and I'll give you a link straight to where to go...

  9. Hey, we got our AOS approval today. I think Senator Corker really helped out there. I would try contacting them if you don't get anywhere with the congressmen/women. Here's the information. I filled ours out with both mine and my husbands information so there would be no issues. I wish you guys the best of luck! http://www.corker.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=CaseworkAssistanc

  10. So sorry friend! I'm sending you good wishes your way and hoping for a quick response with your GC so you can travel in peace. Just remember, what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. I know this process has only strengthened the relationship I have with my husband. If we can make it through all this stress, we can make it through anything. Hang in there!!

  11. Hey there Moon! Chattanooga is a beautiful place if you like nature and stuff. There are a lot of historical things here too, though not as much as there are in Europe. I don't think I got your full message. You are still waiting for CSC? I think they are also ignoring my Senator...never a good sign for us!

  12. Hi Julie. We filed by paper as well I'm waiting to hear back from our Sentator right now who is looking into it for us. I checked online and our file still hasn't been touched since February, so I'm not sure if they lost it or if they just don't care. So sad! Thomas is the immigrant and he cannot work yet since we didn't think he'd be able to find a job with EAD only.
