  1. Hi all!

We are at it again and just mailed in our 751 paperwork. Yesterday, I was running around getting a couple of letters from family and a friend before I mailed it out and forgot to put the letters in the package.

Should I wait for the package to be accepted and then send them in with the case number so they can be added to the packet or just wait to see if we get an RFE and send them in then with the RFE info?

I know the letters are not strong evidence, but they are on the cover letter and would help the reviewer form a visual.

    What do you guys think?

    Jaime

  2. I hope it helps!! My husband was worried and I was nervous too (I am the USC), but they are all about business there. It is basically just making sure what you say is true and you have all of your paperwork. When you get into the room you have to wait for a while so tell her to bring a really good book to keep her mind off of being nervous. The first person to call you is in the back of the room (Brazilian) and he was great. Really easy going and just confirmed we had all of the papers requested. This guy told us we would go after the woman in the plaid shirt. so if he tells her something like that tell her to remember. they just call next for the next part. We were called to the window and they actually looked at the papers (Brazilian) and asked questions about the papers. Not anything personal, but about where is doc A, B if they are confused. Then they take your fingerprints on a machine, not old school style with the ink. The last person to call us was American. There is a little hallway with a window At the end. This is the final step. The actual interview. She flat out told two people to relax and that there was no reason to be nervous. You can pretty much hear everything going on there. She asked basic questions and then told me we needed a co-sponsor (I live in Brazil with my husband and have no US job). We kind of expected it. She said get the co-sponsor and mail it to me. You are approved. Go pay the mail service and bring back the ticket. And that was that! :)

  3. The day I was there I was the only Spouse/Fiance. There were at least 5 women that appeared to be there for K1 out of about 20 people. No one seemed to be there with someone they knew except me.

I imagine the one that had problems may have had circumstances that made the consul want to see them together. It is on the website that the spouse/fiance does not need to be present. I am sure the Consul was aware of what she/he was doing. They seemed fairly competant.

  4. I know! I was hoping this wouldn't happen, but it is what it is. I can appreciate that they want to avoid a public charge. I also asked if I could go back to the states and get a job and resubmit my 864 in a couple of months with pay stubs. She said I would need to wait a year or until I filed taxes that showed the magic number. She was nice, but very adament about the joint sponsor.

  5. Update...I made it to the interview and was asked to get a joint sponsor. I asked her if it was possible to go back to the states and get a job and the resend my 864. She said I could not just get a job and a couple of pay stubs that I would have to wait until I filed taxes so it would be up to a year. She told me to get over my pride and ask for a joint sponsor haha. Of course I was not laughing that day.

  6. Just an update....we had our interview in Rio and they would not accept our assets even though they are well over the 3x. The consul implied that no amount would be satisfactory and we were required to get a joint/co-sponsor since I work in Brazil and have no US income. So joint sponsor it is! Papers are on their way :) thanks again everyone for the guidance.

  7. Yay!! I am here! Bring on the interview dates :) Good luck to all!

  8. Yes London will ask info from the I-129f so it's always good to learn your fiance's name, how you met, where he works, if he has been married before or has kids, and if you have ever visited the US. But you do not need to take a copy of the full petition to the interview. I can understand not knowing these things if you met once and don't speak the same language or if this a total visa scam. In London, generally both parties speak English, have traveled back and forth visa free, and the interview is a short chat, not an interrogation.

hahahaha...I was thinking more about information that is in the chats, emails, etc. Some of the consulates are a bit difficult and seem to ask more questions to confirm that a person has a legitimate relationship :)

  9. My 2 cents...

I would copy the relationship evidence....if anything just to review it before the interview. They will have all of the information and can question you on any of it. It will be best for the interviewee to have it fresh in their mind.

  10. I a trying to figure out how to get my two cats to the states. We will be travelling from Curitiba to Miami. I am looking at both options of having the cats on the plane as a carry on and the option of cargo. We will be flying in June. Anyone do this recently? I know the airlines have made some changes in the past year or so.

Any information on your travels will be great!

    Thanks in advance.

  11. If she files the paperwork from Brazil then there is a chance your wait will be shorter since she is living abroad. I am almost finished...about 6 weeks or so until interview and I sent in my application on Nov. 15. Make sure your wife puts your Brazilian addresses on the application not the US one.

She will have to prove that she can support you and your daughter with assets/a job in the US/joint sponser and that she plans to set up domicile on the states. Read, read, read. This forum is amazing.

The Cr-1 is the way to go. There is no way that the attorney can get you to the states in 3 months (of course miracles do happen). The K3 will likely be closed at NVC or the consulate. I have not seen any K3 visa get through. Search the boards. See what you can find.

    Boa sorte!!

  12. The CR-1 is filed first and once you receive your first Notice of Action (basically your notification that it was received) then you send the k3 paper for free. The k3 is meant to be faster but it has not been in recent years so it is essentially useless. If your CR1 and k3 get to NVC and/or the Embassy at same time then the k3 will be cancelled. The CR1 gives you automatic status in the states, but the k3 make you adjust status....more money. I have not seen any k3 approvals in a while, but I also have not really been looking.

Use your brazilian address since you live together in Brazil. It appears that those of us abroad are processed faster. My 130 was processed in 2 months at USCIS, but NVC and the consulate will be normal processing times. Many others are wait 5-7 month for USCIS processing.

Unless your husband has something difficult to overcome, such as an overstay, drug, or arrest problem then you should be good with this site and not need a lawyer. They often seem to slow the process. There is a bit of a learning curve, but if you have time and are organized you can do it with no problem.

    Boa sorte!!!

  13. My 3032 just got accepted by email. Yipppeeeee! So...I initially sent the 3032 when I got the NVC number (Feb 4) and until today there has been no reply to that email. Yesterday, I decided to scan and send the 3032 with my husband's signature and today I got a reply to that email with an acceptance.

For those of you waiting on the 3032 acceptance and have access to a scanner it might be faster to scan it in and email it :)

    Good luck to us all!
