  1. When I arrived at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, while I was putting my luggage through their scanner, the guy called me over to show me something.

He said to me, "do you have a cell phone?" I said yes, in my backpack. Then he went on saying, "why do you have two iPhones in that suitcase? I said to him I was bring them to give to my relatives, which I was. Finally he said to go ahead.

So, they may or may not stop you to ask you about it.

  2. If your 2012 returns shows higher income then yes I would do that asap. CO counts latest and current income.

My wife's interview is on the 14th of January and I don't think my income of 2012 is higher. Do you think I am fine?

Before I leave for Vietnam, I will print out and bring my pay stub from my last pay check, which was at the end of the year.

  3. It is never hurt to prepare. More evidences, paper you have less questions you will get. My lawyer also told me not to worry about Timeline or 10 years since I have all other evidences and I would be there for the interview. I think my interview went easy because I was over prepared. Again I think if it doesn't hurt to have one then why not.

Yeah, I like to be over prepared as well. He told me from the start to make a Timeline and that was submitted in at the USCIS stage.

So, I might as well make this 10 year residence, so I won't kick myself in the end.

What kind of format did you make yours in? Did you just list each of your house addresses one by one?

  4. Let me clarify this 10 years mostly was asked to couples who have prior divorce. A friend of mine had an interview on the 28th and the CO also asked his wife about the 10 years and luckily he has it prepare for her.

Ok, that is what I thought. I never had a divorce because this is my first marriage. :)

The principle immigration consultant that is helping me said to me...

"The DS230 (attached) has all the residence and work history they will want. It's actually 10 years of work history if somebody has been working that long and residence history back to age 16. No additional residence history is needed for the US Citizen."

So, I think I am good. Thank you.

  5. Yes it does to CR1 as well.

Then what was the point of the G325A, which has 5 years of residence?

I don't understand why they are asking for different things if you already submitted this in the beginning. This is very frustrating because I am about to leave for Vietnam in about a week and I don't want to screw up her interview if I am missing a document.

Why don't they tell you this from the beginning or tell you in the interview letter? Unbelievable.

  7. FINALLY! I got my interview date!!!

I was very surprised to get it because I called the NVC this morning and they said that December was filled.

My wife's interview date is scheduled for January 14, 2013 at 8:00am.

I had tears in my eyes when I saw the date. I am very very happy to finally have something to look forward to, because I want to be there for her interview.

  8. Waiting for our interview date is unbearable. I don't understand why it is taking so long. My wife is not holding up well emotionally and I am getting very irritated.

Last Friday I called the NVC and they say they are still working on December, but as November is ending soon, my hope is about to run out.

This is the first time I have been apart from someone that I love for so long and seeing her on a webcam only goes so far. It is hard for both of us.

  9. Just called the NVC and they said that next week they will be scheduling interview dates for December. Though, seeing that sweetapple already got an interview date, it has already started.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their interview date. I know my wife is very anxious to get hers.
