  1. Hello, I used to live and work in New York and was there on an H1B visa. However I was laid off in Dec 2013 and so my my visa was cancelled. I moved back to the UK within the 180 day time limit after my visa was cancelled.

I have now just booked a trip back to New York for 12 days to visit friends. I was filling out the ESTA application and came a cross this question:
    F) Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa or entry into the U.S. or had a U.S. visa canceled? *
Do i click 'yes' or 'no' here? I went to click yes but it gave me a warning. If i were to click yes would I still be able to enter?
    Please advise
    Thanks
  2. Hi guys

I moved here in November 2011 on an H1B visa but I was laid off in December 2013. The new job that I got have just back out of my sponsorship unfortunately.

I've been living with my girlfriend since February 1st and I'm wondering if the option for us to get married would still be allowed?

If so how complicated is it, and is this my best option?

I love my life here and dont want to move back to the UK where I'm from

Any advice you could give would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    B

  3. Hello I was made redundant in December 2013 from a job I had with an H1B visa. My last day was Dec 10th and my last pay day was Jan 13th so I was told I had 30 days until after Jan 13th to find another job to transfer my visa to. I found a job but they were too slow in processing the paperwork and now the 30 days is up and they say they have to apply for a whole new visa.

My question would be, am I now in the same boat as all the people that are applying for new visas who have never had one before? If the annual quota is already filled will I have to wait til the new batch are released? Also how long will I have to leave the country for to have the new visa processed?

Also, out of interest, if they had been more urgent and processed the paper work for the visa transfer process within the time limit, how much quicker would it have been than now having to apply for a new one?

  4. So I lost my British passport in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and am currently going through the process of getting it replaced. I live and work in New York and am currently here on an H1B visa. I have been told that once I have received my replacement passport that I will need to get my visa put in there at a US Embassy outside the country.

What I want to know is how long does this replacement visa process take? Would it just be a case of going in and getting a new one stuck in there?

    OR . . .

Would it mean handing over my forms again, giving them my passport and then waiting 5 days or so for them to post my passport back with the new visa in there, like when I first got my visa to move here?

The reason I want to know is so I can decide whether I could get it done in a 1 or 2 day trip to Canada or whether I should do it next time I'm back in the UK for a week or so.

If anyone knows please let me know

    Thanks

    B
