  1. I called DOS and got another story, I e-mailed the embassy and got response Friday telling me to wait another 7-14 days... I don't know what else to do. My fiancé went to the embassy on the 14 of November and was told to wait another week at the most.

My fiance stood in line this morning at the Consulate, and when she got to the window, they said that the process takes 6 weeks.

  2. Such is life in the DR. I would continue to call DOS(202-663-1225) they can at least tell you what the Consulate is doing as they enter it into the system. Calling the 877 can be a waste of money. To get a more accurate answer from the Consulate I would recommend sending an email sdovisasresidencia@state.gov, make sure to include full name of beneficiary with date of birth and SDO case # asking them what is the hold up since the information requested was dropped off. It will take them a couple of days to respond. Hope you hear some good news soon.

Thanks, I will take you advice as far as calling DOS. I have emailed exactly how you suggested, and I just get a form reply such as "The documents are pending review from the consular officer. This process takes time, the case will be issued the visa as soon as the documents are reviewed and all is well.

What is frustrating is the people have their visa issued in three days. Now that all my required docs are in, it is frustrating waiting three weeks. I understand they are busy there, but it is frustrating not knowing anything.

  3. La Negra,

I understand what you are going through. We were missing the medical on October 11th, so we delivered it on October 16th. She was tentatively approved with the green sheet, and was just waiting on the medical. Since then we have not received the visa, nor any updates on the progress. Very frustrating. If you find a way to communicate with someone who has the ability to advance the process, please let me know. Thanks

  4. Did she have the green sheet with her when she paid Domex?? If they had you pay Domex, then I would think that you were approved. I would call Domex in Santo Domingo and see if your visa is ready. Heres the number. Tel.: (809) 616-6633.

    Good Luck!!

She had the green sheet when she paid Domex. My concern is the Domex is waiting for the Consulate, the Consulate is waiting for the medical, and the medical is sitting 10 feet away, waiting for nothing.

  5. We had our meeting in Santo Domingo on October 11, 2012. Prior to that, she never got her packet delivered to her home, so we had to rush to get everything together, including her medical. We thought we had everything ready, but when we went for the interview, her medical had not been sent over yet, and she had a mistake on her birth certificate.

We ran over, got her medical, and a corrected birth certificate, but by the time we returned, it was too late to re-enter. The next day was Friday, so we could not return then, so on the 16th, she delivered the two outstanding items to the walk up window, and she entered to pay Domex. At the interview, she said everything looked good, and it had the green sheet on top, so it is just a matter of issuing the visa now that we delivered the outstanding docs.

I have been unable to get anything but a vague, general answer as to our status. They are not even able to confirm that the two outstanding items have been matched up with our case. Both phone calls and emails just yield vague answers. So my questions is, has anyone else experienced 3 week waiting times like this, and is there any way to contact someone at the embassy that can actually look to make sure that the outstanding docs are matched up? My concern is that without matching up the two outstanding items, that when someone reviews the case, they will just pass over it assuming that we did not drop off the missing items.

    Thanking you in advance . . . .
