  1. Interview date is September 13th in Montreal.

We are a bit confused about all the necessary paperwork...

    1. I-864

    2. Birth Certificate

    3. Police record

Part items three and two concern me because we already sent these in and the have a copy of both. Why are we creating yet another copy when they actually have one already? I-864... I already sent this in, why are we bringing yet another copy (it was painful obtaining those tax returns).

Lastly, can someone tell me if we already paid for the Medical Exam (I believe it was part of another fee). Wasn't sure... trying to get ready for yet another $281 for an exam.

  3. The I-864 has been giving me a lot of trouble due to some challenges in getting transcripts from the IRS. I have, however received a fax copy and I am wondering if I could use a fax copy with the cover page as proof of salary? Any ideas?

Don't know if this will help you but I had a difficult time getting my transcripts as well and ended up using Accuverify. They got them for me in 24 hours.

I just sent away for Accuverify! :) Thanks for the heads up! I got a response and they're working on them right now. I certainly hope they come up with the easy solution versus trying to use this fax document.

  4. Just so I understand this correctly - we only need to send in the most recent year's Tax information now???

    To All Consular Posts

Revised Requirements for Form I-864 Processing

    UNCLAS STATE 051172

    302243Z MAR 06

    FM SECSTATE WASHDC

TO ALL DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR POSTS COLLECTIVE IMMEDIATE

    AMEMBASSY GEORGETOWN IMMEDIATE

SUBJECT: REVISED REQUIREMENTS FOR FORM I-864 PROCESSING

    REF: STATE 022685

    2. Summary. Effective immediately, sponsors filing an I-864

are required to submit only their Federal tax return for their

most recent tax year, current as of the date of execution of the

I-864. The I-864 will remain valid indefinitely absent other

evidence of failure to meet the public charge provisions of the

law and should be evaluated based on the poverty guidelines in

effect on the date of filing with NVC or with post. [NOTE:

Reftel had indicated that poverty guidelines in effect as of the

date of signing would apply. Instead, posts are to consider the

guidelines in effect as of the date the I-864 is submitted.]

Updated tax returns should not be requested absent positive

evidence of public charge issues. The sponsor signature on Form

I-864 does not need to be notarized since the sponsor is signing

under penalty of perjury. Photocopies of Form I-864 that are

submitted for derivative applicants do not require an original

signature or notarization. [NOTE: Reftel had included existing

9 FAM language, requiring notarized signatures on an original I-

864 and an original signature on each photocopy. The new

guidance is consistent with current DHS requirements.] Posts are

reminded that there are some circumstances in which the I-864 is

not required. (For these exceptions, see 9 FAM 40.41 N3.4, 9 FAM

    40.41 N3.4-2, 9 FAM 40.41 N3.4-3,and 9 FAM 40.41 N4.6-3.) End

    summary.

  5. Hey everyone,

In trying to get my immmunization documents together I realized that the city of Victoria destroys all records once an individual reaches the age of 21. I'm having blood work done to provide some documentation, found some OLD childhood "passport style" records, and have had a fresh set of tetanus/dyptheria. BUT, I didnt have a flu or pneumonia shot this year, and apparently I cant get one because it's not flu season and there wont be any available until October-ish.... that's just toooo long for me to wait. I'm hoping this fiasco will be long finished by then. Wondering if anyone has any experience with the pre-interview medical appointment and can tell me a little bit about it, or if anyone knows how I can get a flu/pneumonia shot in April?!?!

    Thanks in Advance,

    Sarah

  6. Once the NVC system shows that it has received your AOS fee, it will generate the AOS/I-864 itself. (This may take anywhere from up to a month after you send the fee in.) Note, however, that neither the processing of the AOS fee nor the generation of the I-864 is reflected on the IVR -- you actually have to ask an operator.

--- This is the part I don't get - you actually have to ask an operater what? I sent in my AOS and they still haven't processed my payment (it's been about a week and a half now). Is there anyway to speed up the processing by calling the operator?

    :help:

  7. The reason why my wife cannot come down is because they took her picture and printed her shortly after we married. They said she couldn't re-enter back in the US until she provided leasing contract, bill stubs, etc, etc.

She cannot provide all this because she's a student, unfortunately.

  8. The AOS Bill form in word format is missing in the above instructions. My spouse emailed NVC and the DS-3032 was easily remedied! It works! Saves a lot of time waiting (possibly a week or two). Next I am trying the AOS Bill fix so I don't have to wait for this. Looking good! Just need the AOS Bill form :):help:

The AOS Bill is there, scroll down when it opens ;) I thought the same when I initially opened it.

Hey Thanks! I created mine last night! Now my question is - I sent my DS-3032 (through the above outlined process) via email (my spouse did) and got a response that it was received and changed. Since the AOS is supposedly sent out roughly the same time that the DS-3032 was sent would it be okay to generate the AOS with a general bill date versus a specific bill date (just don't know what that is)?

  9. I have found two programs - the Hope Fund and the Lifetime Learning fund for tax consideration. Essentially if the college that the dependant / spouse attended is accredited and meets the FSA requirements for student aide as outlined by the US Department of Education (there are a few colleges through the world outside the US that do meet requirements) you can claim either one of these programs as funds back.

  10. Also - I have been paying for my wife's schooling this year, however, she lives in Canada. She's been attending the University of Victoria and an accredited online corrispondence course as well. Is it possible to claim these on my tax return even though she's taking the classes in Canada and not the US?
