  1. Hi everyone, would love your input.

My Conditional card expires Oct 24, 2014 so my window is now open to file i-751. However, I'm scheduled to travel internationally from August 15 to September 1st. Should I file right before I leave? or After I come back? I don't want to file right away as I don't want to miss Biometrics appointment while I'm away on travel.

Also, am I good to come back to US on Sept 1st on my green card which would expire in about 55-60 days (oct 24)? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all July filers.

  2. CONGRATS! Mine was Approved on the spot today, too :) We had some very straightforward questions, and the officer was actually quite nice and told us we did a great job. Thanks everyone here for all the help.

Hey Mariana, APPROVED! See story below. Thank you Thank You Thank You!!!!

So I had my interview early this morning. I was extremely ready for a slew of questions and lots of probing, etc. Well, my appointment was for 7am. We got to the Atlanta USCIS at 6am. Doors opened at 6.30am. We went into the airport type security thing and for some reason the alarm kept on going off with hubby. They searched his shoes pockets, watch, etc ...nothimg so finally they let us through. Baby is getting fidgety in stroller by this time  To make it worse we have to go into an elevator -- have you ever heard of a claustrophobic 14 month old...terrified of elevators...starts to yelp and gasp..By the time we are in the huge waiting area and we noisily sign in, we have caused a stir because baby is full fledged in tantrum mode :help: We try everything, rocking, milk, water, veggie puffs that she loves..raisins were all over the store...mom and dad are also flustered at this time. Anyway finally, I sing a song that never fails to calm her down and she calms down, hiccups and sleeps... phew..

Ten minutes later at 7.36, we are called in. Serious African American woman, about 35 yo. No smile.Serious scrutinizing...Swears us in. Asks my address and date of birth. Askls to kindly tell her where we met and when. Jots down in my file. Asks for hubby and my passport and DL. We hand those in, she goes out to do a photocopy, comes back and says Well done and Congratulations. Card will be in the mail 7-10 days, actually smiles beautifully and shows us out at 7.41.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful support, MOST especially, Mariana: I would have missed my appointment withoiut your advice to call USCIS, and you pushed me to insist. I grew a backbone on this site...Thankyou. I will be lurking and lending my opinion here until all us Julyers are done. Thanksxxx

  3. Thanks guys...really appreciate it. Looks like we may be able to get her BC... 50-50. I don't have my original BC either but I'm downloading a copy from the govt website online so I have the closest thing to the original.

Both of us will be carrying our passports and Drivers Licenses.

You're more than good to go :-) Except, you might want to move mountains to get those originals. Part of the interview is to verify copies of documents already sent in...idk, let all the rest weigh in ?

You might wanna try and get the original. It clearly states that on the interview notice unless you are ok with a RFE at the interview. Also, they might not ask for it but its always better to be overly prepared than to say Had I known.

    Goodluck...:)

    aahhh thanks =)

I don't have my original birth certificate, and I only submitted copies with the filing and brought copies to the interview. I wasn't asked for the originals at all during the interview. In fact, I wasn't even asked for all the immigration stuff they told to bring like I-94, copy of passport etc etc. They didn't even ask to see my husband's original birth certificate that we actually had with us.

I was asked for my US Passport, not naturalization certificate or birth certificate. I already submitted everything with the application.

My husband who's the USC was asked for his BC

oh and I'll add that they asked for both mine and his passports, and driver's licenses.

  4. Hey guys,

Have my interview on Wednesday, and the following is what we're carrying. Can you plz let me know if would suffice?

    1. Marriage Certificate

    2. Joint Apartment Lease

    3. Joint Car Insurance

    4. Joint ConEd Electricity Bil

    5. Joint Bank Statements (2 Different bank accounts)

    6. Wedding Invitation, Receipts/Contracts with Banquet Hall, Photographer, Live Music performer

    7. Honeymoon flight tickets, resort booking & receipts

    8. Trips that we've taken together (~4-5 trips...flight tickets)

    9. Flight tickets and Hotel bookings for 2 trips we've planned for this year (thanksgiving and christmas)

    10. About 50 photos - Trips, Wedding, Honeymoon and other random ones.

Is this enough? One more question - We don't have the original copies of Birth Certificate and Naturalization certificate handy (only copies....Original is in a bank locker in VA and we won't be able to get them now). Is that ok?

    Thanks in advance guys.

  5. That's great news. Good luck preparing all the documents and keep us posted.

I'm still waiting to hear back on my interview data /EAD. Got my biometrics done on 8/1. Very impatient :)

Yes, soon you'll receive your interview letter and/or EAD card!

To me, it felt like I was never going to hear anything back! I was SO impatient...

Now I am reviewing all the documentation to take to the interview, all the bonafides evidences, e.g. current joint bank statement, joint insurance evidences, telephone bills, utility bills and picture. That'll keep me busy for a while

    yes.gif

    Have a great journey!

  6. Thanks much "Lornaevo". Took your advice and went for a walk-in this morning, and it was successful. :) reached there at 7.55 and was out by 8.30. Not sure if this was because it was Wednesday or not, but nobody even looked at my appointment date/asked me anything related to that. Got my fingerprints and photo done, and got out.

Also, for others who are planning to do a walk-in, I think it is key not to mention (without them asking) that you're doing a walk-in. Go ahead and try, just have an answer for why you're there earlier in case they ask for it.

Now, the real wait begings :) Good luck everyone.

If you have the time you can still try a walk in. Let them know you won't be around that week.

  7. I'll be going to Varick Street. It sucks that the Appt date falls on the day of my birthday and I have a vacation planned. Hopefully it won't be an issue. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks much.

If its the location on Jamaica Avenue, then yes. I did a successful walk in. Just have a good reason why you won't be able to do it on the date of the appointment. But me doing a walk in didn't speed up my case one bit.

  8. 7/16 - Sent my I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

7/18 - Got confirmation from UPS that package was received in Chicago today - signed for by CHYBA

7/20 - Text and Email Notification from USCIS

    7/21 - Checks Cashed

This is going to be dumb question....but how do you guys add the timeline below your reply? I tried using the Timeline feature but looks it's not the same....thanks :)
