That's a bummer. Suck that it took almost 1 year for her to get the green card. We did everything by the books, follow all the rules and still get penalized for the gov's slow processing.

My wife came over using the K1 visa (I'm the petitioner). The timeline is as followed:
Nov 2013: US Entry
Dec 2013: We got married
Jan 2014: Applied for green card
Jan 2015: Received her 2-year conditional GC
Nov 2016: Applied for 10-year GC (pending)
No international travel.
From what I've gathered, the 3-year clock starts on Jan 2015 when she received her 2-year GC, not from her US entry on Nov 2013, correct?

Your posts are helpful. Thanks guys.
Latest data point for Chicago (downtown). Wasn't able to get state ID a few months earlier, but as soon as we received the EAD card. No problem at all.
We brought:
- passport
- EAD
- SSN (with address attached)
- DHS letter (second address verification)
In and out within 45 mins (most of the time waiting).
Clarification needed on when can my wife applies for citizenship

We sent in the paper work for her green card Jan 2014 and she didn't get the card until Jan 2015 so the citizenship eligibility clock didn't start for her almost 1 year later than it should. All just because the slow paperwork processing.
