  1. Congrats and goodluck! Could I ask what the questions were that they asked you?

They asked me if I have travelled out of US since I got my greencard, so just noted it down.

And then the US history - like how many senators are there; who is the vice pres; how many terms a pres can serve, what is the constitution, what do we celebrate on the 4th of july and who wrote the Star Spangled Banner.

    GoBruins,

Yes I think it is 319b, too! And it is way too early for me to take the oath. My husband's date of assignment is still on July 25.And I can't wait to leave and explore EU, I've been to few places there when I used to work as "flying atsay" but only for layovers. There's nothing like actually living in a certain place. I am looking forward to it. Bdw, where are you guys assigned now?

  2. Just want to share my experience during my interview this morning in Fairfax, VA. I was eligible for citizenship through the FLO assistance under section 319 b. It was short - in and out in 15 minutes, the IO checked that my informations were updated, my husband's actual date of assignment overseas. I have answered first six questions correctly so the IO stopped fr there and let me write one sentence and that was it. I could have taken the oath same day, but was told I have to go back first week of June, that is at least 45 days before my husband's duty overseas.

    FLO 319 B

"Naturalization cannot take place more than 45 days prior to departure from the U.S. to post. You may, however, apply and start the process if you have received your post assignment notification."

So, yes I am almost there...

For the meantime, I am busy googling Prague, Czech... where we are going to live for 3 years and so happy that this time I can finally join my husband.

And for everybody there who are still waiting... hang in there and good luck.

  3. My husband is retiring in 4 years and we are going to settle down in my country, Philippines. We... ok HE already bought a beach front property just last year... of course there's no way in h-ll we can afford something like that here in the US... it doesn't cost much to start a business there, so he is more than willing to try life back there. And since he is still young by the time he retires (38 yo), he might look for a job in the US embassy there in case he gets bored sitting on his a_s. He is now working in the US Emb - in Moscow for the last 2 yrs and Czech starting July for 3-4yr assignment, so hopefully that would be an edge for him. So, I can't wait to move back home... yes it's a third world country, but there is no place like home.

  4. 869 days for us. Our AOS NOA was 7-2004, but was sent for Namecheck on 10-12-2004, Been through the interview and been waiting for namecheck ever since.

My N-400 was filed 11-2004, I was informed that it is the name check that's slowing down the process. I will go for the citizenship interview on Monday (3-05). I am assuming that I got my name check cleared, but who knows... I guess I'll find out Monday

  5. Does the last name on the passport really need to be changed? Can one travel outside the country with the two names being different (maiden name, and married name) on gc and passport? I am confused.

When I travelled outside US, I went to Phil. Embassy and have them stamped the amendment page on my passport with my married name. My plane ticket was under my maiden name and gc under my married name. I did not have any problem with the airline and with immigration.

This is exactly what my case is... supposedly "expedited" but because of the name check which nobody can do anything about it, I had to wait anyway. At the time my husband has only less than a year left overseas before he comes back in the US, so the process was put on hold. Now USCIS has resume processing my papers, I have an interview on March 5th, but I was informed by both USCIS and my husband's deparment that I can not take oath not until at least 45 days before his assignment overseas.

  7. Hi everybody!

Im a new member and im glad to have found this site since my bf and I are eagerly wanting to get an answer of how to start this whole application.

Ok, here's our situation.. He;'s been living here for 2 years, and we're together for a year now (not married yet). He will have a job in Japan this April, and we planned to take the summer vacation on July in Canada this year, to meet his family. And i will be moving to Japan with him after a month after he gets settled there, i.e May. We're thinking where should we apply for the visiting visa for Canada. Here in Phils? or in Japan?...

And i'll have to apply a visa for japan too.. anyhow we think that this is easy with his contract there.... Too much work, but will be worthwhile when we're together.

I hope you can help us with this.. any advice will be appreciated.

    God Bless!

    Hon

  8. Hi, I know exactly how you feel about your husband going overseas. My husband went overseas (Moscow) five months after we got married, and only then that I applied for a job. He was gone for two years and just came back August last year. I did not know anybody in the area, but thankfully I survived! Finding a job helped me a lot and of course, visiting VJ website, knowing I was not alone :crying: Why can't you go with him? Anyway, take one day at a time and before you know it, he's home again! Best wishes.

  9. When I applied for I751, I did not have much evidences to show USCIS since my husband went overseas like five months after we got married. I moved to a new apartment complex while he was gone, so all the utility bills are under my name, apartment lease under my name. I only had the insurance, marriage cert. and tax returns with both our names. I had to write them a letter saying that he was assigned overseas and not much evidences have established so far, and that we understand that we might be called for personal interview because of this... and informed them the date of his return in the US. Thankfully, the 751 was approved without anymore notice/letter from them, they just sent the new card on the mail.

  10. Yes, after filing for N-400... just wait for the interview date. Mine is the longest wait I believe. I have moved once, thankfully it did not cause any problem. I even received a notice for N-400 interview for Jan 29, 2007 and then after a week, a cancellation letter, and then after two weeks another schedule for March 5. So anything can still happen  and I am just waiting :)

  11. Well, mine is a perfect example of "name check" case. Don't be confused with my time line, it is supposed to be "expedited" but because of the pending name check... it is not really expedited anymore. I had to do the fingerprints four times in 2 years period. And someone on this thread said no one can speed them up, not even the senator... that is very true. No one can do something when it comes to this name check. So finally I will have my interview on March 5th, hopefully things will go smooth this time.
