  1. For those countries that allow advance medicals, they accept the NVC letter with your name and case number on it.

As far as I know, no, Guyana doesn't allow advance medicals. But, if you want to pass some time, you can always call up the panel physician there and ask! You may be pleasantly surprised ;)

Saylin, you're always so nice and kind, and you give hope so one day I may ask you to give me 6 numbers for the lottery; and I WILL share with you if I win :D

    Not kidding :)

  2. ARGH. Useless b*stards (NVC, I mean--not Journey-folk!). And snarky today, too!

Although the email/letter we got from NVC on the 5th said that interview was scheduled and the package was sent, for the SECOND time (yesterday AND today) the NVC is saying it was still with them.

So the one shipped on the 5th is not ours, I guess. Boo.

Guess they'll be hearing from me every day until they send the damn thing! HA! :P

AMZZ, have you followed up again?

Nope, I haven't called them. I'll do that maybe next week. I'm happy the interview is scheduled and we still have over a month until then so the package should get there eventually :)

  3. Hi, If you were told it was forwarded on the 5th then it's the one for Nov. 5th. If they told you they forwarded it why did NVC say they haven't? that's strange..When I saw a package on DHL going to egypt I would call NVC for an update, that's how I did it..Good Luck

I experienced the same thing as jnkmlsux: got an e-mail on the 5th, bla bla bla; made a phone call 2 days later (7th) and was told that the package is still at NVC.

    Weird

  4. It's really hit-and-miss. I have been playing around with the numbers this morning and just managed to confuse myself more, lol. Thank goodness this link was posted in the other thread, I'll now defer to more experienced members for the info.

Hehehehe, to me it's just plain frustrating when my search shows ZERO packages while somebody found 20 of them

So, like you, I'll just wait for somebody who has more luck or knowledge, and if I see a package heading to Poland I will call NVC to confirm if it's mine.

Ahhhhhh, stress and loneliness are almost over :dancing:

This link was mentioned on the November NVC thread, others may have been aware of it already but I wasn't so I thought I'd share for any other clueless counterparts.

It shows updated shipping info and includes many that didn't come up in my search. One for Juarez, hope that means us!

You know, until now I cannot figure out why sometimes many packages don't show up in my searches even if I put exactly same dates as someone else.

  6. Can you please give me the full instruction the website and what I should click on to get those lines.

    This is the website:

    http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html

I said in another post that you should play with dates because sometimes it shows different things when you put a space between the day and the month.

And this is a thread where tru_loves_journey post packages sent everyday:

other plan - email IV Unit in Paris, ask for earlier interview date, see what happens.

Darnell, this is what I'm going to do and I hope it will work. I heard it does work for some if the embassy isn't very busy.

  7. I'm too stupid to figure out the tracking to the consulate. Can someone explain it to me again? The way described on VJ does not seem to work for me. No matter what dates I type in the DHL tracker, no results come up at all for any country.

It hasn't worked for me today either; I don't know why. But before - all was fine.

This is how I learned it:

Line 1: EXP 05 NOV2012A (I always do space before and after the number; everything else stays together. You pick this date - it can be anything from last few days)

Line 2: the date HAS to be the same as in Line 1

    Line 3: always current/today's date

    Line 4: leave empty

Line 5: put Germany or leave empty (sometimes when you leave empty, it will show you many packages but not from Germany; then when you check just for Germany, you will see a package - I have no idea why .....)

  8. Seeing all the interviews being scheduled got me hopeful, so I sat on hold with NVC for 40 minutes only to be told there is no update. Oh well, it should be soon enough.. I'm getting really anxious now!

Call DOS (202-663-1225), press 1 and then 0 to speak to an operator. In a few cases DOS had good news while NVC still said there is no interview date for some.

But I think DOS closed at 5pm ....

I tried to dial a minute ago and they were still open. Try it; maybe you will catch someone at the last minute.

  9. Congrats!! So happy for you! Did you call or get an email?

Since Saylin seems to have the Magic Touch, may I request the magic words from you Saylin for an interview to be assigned to me tomorrow? Pretty please!!

    Hihihihihihi :) Thank you!

I called DOS - they answered very quickly and the lady was very nice. I'm still waiting for an e-mail but I'm soo happy. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for a December date - you'll get it, cjjj. But let's wait for Saylin's magic :)

  10. Cant figure out how to track this :(

The site hasn't been updated to a new month (you can't see November in a drop-down menu) but it is simple:

    - in the first line you put EXP 1 NOV2012A (spaces between EXP and 1, and 1 and month) - no space anywhere else; the date changes to whatever you want (yesterday, the day before, or the day before that...)

    - in the second line - this date HAS to match the one from the 1st line

    - third line - today's date, always

    - next line - leave empty

    - last line - you can choose beneficiary's country (or you don't have to choose anything -then it will show you many packages sent to different places)

In the first two lines you can put any date from the past (few days earlier, etc), like I mentioned before. Since I check the website everyday :)))), I usually put yesterday's date. Sometimes the system won't show you anything; I still have no idea why this happens. Then I just pick the country I'm interested in - and it works.

    Good luck!

And thanks to tru_loves_journey - she explained it to me, and she posts packages sent to many countries, every day (if the site is working properly)
