  1. Hi,

No She does not speak any italian. She only speaks Persian. WE did not choose Naples, the NVC choose this place, appreantly there are only 5 consulates that deal with Iranians. Naples, Vienna, Frankfurt, Ankara and Abu Dhabi.

The Ankara and Abu Dhabi are the bussiest consulates I guess.. I am jus so desperate I don't know what to do. If I ask them to move to the case to these consulates, who knows how much longer it will take.

  2. Hello everyone,

I need help please! my mother in law's interview has been setup in the US Consulate in Naples, ITALY. It was setup for June (middle of the high season) we pushed it back until September and me and my wife bought our tickets and booked our hotels to go with her to the interview. Long story short, she was not able to get her Schengen Visa (to get to ITALY) She is from IRAN. And since we had bought non refundable tickets and hotels, we ended up canceling our trip and lost a lot penalty money.. Anyway I need to push her interview for another month, but I can't take off any more time from work and my wife can't miss any more work days as well. So we are stuck here!

My mother in-law does not speak any English and in a place like Naples, you will need someone who knows their stuff. I am truly desperate; does anyone know somebody in Naples who can help us??

    I am losing faith here!

    Any help is appreciated

    Thank you

  3. Hello everyone,

We have gotten an interview date of the July 13th for my mother in law; however I need to see if I can reschedule it for September, because the tickets are sooo expensive! man it’s in the middle of the high season.. anyway I sent an e-mail to the consulate and got an out of office message that they will respond in two weeks! so I called the number (+39) 081.583.8220 and the lady who answers the phone keeps hanging up on me and refusing to take my phone call. there is another number 899 34 34 32 which is a toll free number in Italy but I can't dial that from the states. I am very desperate since time is running out. Does anyone know how I can talk to someone to see if I can reschedule that date? Will it miss up things?

    Thanks for your help!

  4. Hello everyone,

Well my wife's mom has her interview setup on July 13th at the Naples Consulate, so me an my wife are planning to be there with her when she comes in. My Question is does anyone know if everything goes well do they usually give her the visa the same day or does she needs to come back ? we are hoping to bring her to the US with us after the interview so I need to plan for the tickets and such.

    Thanks everyone!

  5. Where is her country of residence?

Consulate that has jurisdiction over her place of residence is the consulate that does the interview... unless there has been a residence change you cannot consulate shop...

FWIW, interviews are performed in the native language of the consulate country or English...

she lives in Iran. Actually I called the NVC Customer service and they said I can request a change to either UAE or Turkey by either e-mailing or writing, but I am just affraid if I chnage it, it may cause a delay... I don't know what to do.

  6. Hello everyone,

WE are working on the paperwork for my wife's mother, (getting to the DS230 part) I had a quick question. Her case number begins with letters NPL. Does that mean she will be interviewed at the US Embassy in Naples, Italy? If that is the case is there any way to for the Visa center to change the Embassy or will this just delay her process?

The reason I am asking is she does not speak any English and if her case gets transferred to other embassies (like Ankara, Turkey or Abu Dhabi) her sister can travel with her and assist and will not require to get a EU visa. In Additon the cost of the travel to Italy is much higher

    Thanks

  7. Well I am happy to say after a long journey my wife is now a U.S. Citizen.. The interview was yesterday in the Atlanta office and it went very well, took about 15 minutes. The IO did not even ask for anything (we had brought Tax receipts, bank statements, marriage certificate, pictures, etc...) The interview was at 9:25 AM, we got there at 9 and the interview was at 10:14. Lucky for us Atlanta is one of the few field offices where the oath ceremony is on the same day. So we came back at 2 and the ceremony ended at 3 and she is now a U.S. Citizen. Next step is to get her Social Security status changed and apply for a U.S. Passport.

I want to thank all of you for your help and guidance through these 3 years and I wish everyone the best of luck with their citizenship journey!!!

    Thank you all!!!

  8. For USCIS if you know someone competent and fluent in both languages have that person do a literal translation and make notation at the bottom that they certify that they are fluent in both languages and that the translation is true and acurate, they sign it and note their contact info. (This should cost you nothing)

That is great news!!! Thank you so much.. I will do that.

  9. Hi Everyone,

Well.. My wife got her interview letter and it’s for May28th. I have everything ready except I am not sure on one thing... My Marriage Certificate

I have the original (which is in Farsi) and a copy of the translation (meaning photo copy-in color of the translation) the original copy went along my wife's papers at the embassy when we were doing her I30 paperwork 4 years ago.

My question is they going to except this or do I need to get this document translated again? The downfall is the cost since I asked around and it’s about $135 to get this translated again..

What is everyone’s opinion on this?

    Thanks for your help

  10. Hi All,

Well the wife is started to study for the exam, but I had a quick question regarding how to study for the exam using the study guide

    for example

    2. What does the Constitution do?

    ▪ sets up the government

    ▪ defines the government

    ▪ protects basic rights of Americans

    or

    12. What is the “rule of law”?

    ▪ Everyone must follow the law.

    ▪ Leaders must obey the law.

    ▪ Government must obey the law.

    ▪ No one is above the law.

do you have to know all three answers or just one is sufficent?

sorry for the stupidt question, but rather be safe than sorry.

    Thanks for your help

  11. Thanks everyone. I had a copy of the translation (but its the copy) the original copy went along my wife's papers at the embassy. I guess I will need to get it translated again?

the stuff they make you go through, one would think if she has a green card through marriage and we have been together all this long this would count as marriage but I guess they have to make you suffer with the paper trails.

  12. HI there,

Ok here is another question, it might be very stupid, but here it goes.

me and my wife got married in her home country and we have our marriage certificate in Persian, when she got her CR1 Visa at the time of the interview at the US embassy we were told that's the only certificate we need (translated of course).

So we are married but we don't have a "US Marriage Certificate" the only certificate we have is our "Persian one" which has been translated.

I am a US Citizen Do you think this will cause a problem for us when submitting "copy of the marriage certificate" with our package? Do we need to get a US marriage certificate and get married again?

I am freaking out; if you can help I would appreciate it.

    Thanks all

  13. Hi Everyone,

It has been a while but we are back for my wife's path to citizenship.

I am filling out the form and I noticed on the instruction in indicated we need to send two photos and a copy of her green card (front and back) only along with the check

But after looking at the M-476 instructions since we are doing the citizenship based on marriage after 3 years they are asking for Tax returns, birth certificates, etc.

My question is do I need to send these forms out or these are the forms that may be required by the officer at the time of the interview?

This is confusing since if you are going by the instructions of the N400 form you only need to send those forms but form M-476 indicates other stuff.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks as always!

  15. Well my wife's was a pain. We had filled back on October and after serveral phone calls to the 800 number and two visits to the local office (which did not help at all) we finally strike gold and spoke a great officer on the 800 number and the week after we finally got the bio appt. which was done today at the Atlanta Application Center.

Just keep trying and trying and call them and don't give up.. I know exactly how you feel it was a pain to just sit there and wait..

  16. Ok.. Finally got something after 5 months of waiting regarding the biometrics for my wife.. I just got an e-mail from USCIS and at the bottom it says:

The status of this service request is:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the above listed petition. We are enclosing an appointment notice for biometrics and fingerprint capture.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Now the bad part is my wife is going to visit her family on March 19th and will be out until May. I just pray to god (a loud prayer) that we get the bio done before she leaves...

  17. Ok,

This further explains how screwed up these guys are and how lack of communication and knowledge flows....

Back on October we filled the I-751 for my wife, we got the NOA letter and that was it.. Nothing since, numerous phone calls went nowhere, just wait, did Info pass appt. on the December 31st with the Atlanta Field office and we were told again to wait. So we went ahead and made another info pass appt. and went to the Atlanta office today.. After waiting an hour, we got called up to the window. I told the officer about our situation and she immediately said "I751's don't need Biometrics" this is her word. After explaining to her that I think she might be incorrect, she got mad at me and told me again that "listen you don't need a biometrics, since it’s up to the service centers to ask for one" anyway we left and I called the customer service number and they said the same thing (I still did not believe what they were saying was true) so again after an hour I called back and asked to be escalated to another officer on the phone and that time the officer told me that yes we do need the biometrics.. Apparently what the officer says is sometimes the supervisors don't tell the front desk people that the process has changed (apparently the need for the biometrics started back on August 2006, which again 2 years later and they still don't know) I was so amazed by how dysfunctional USCIS officers and customers service people are.. If someone else had the same problem and went through what we did today than they would have been wayyyy of the road.

Unbelievable, so we wait again, they opened another inquiry case to the CSC.. So we shall see

Just show up at your nearest ASC with your NOA1 and see what happens. Odds are they'll do your biometrics and that will be that.

At least that's what I'd do first if I were in your position, rather than banging my head against the wall of bureaucracy.

That's what I tried to do, except the idiot officer did not allow me to do it.. Do all the field offices do walk in biometrics? Specially the Atlanta one?
