  1. Wanted to say thanks to all VJ for the help given during our I-130 Journey

Interview and visa went well and smooth. Everything at USEM took total of 15 min to complete. Got visa within 3 days, Cfo and back to U.S in 10 days.

Again Thanks to all and hope everyone else Journey goes as well

  2. Back for help again

    Interview is next week.

Let's say my beneficiary Frist name is ONA Maria, Middle Name is Lawyer, and Last name Burton and that's the way it's lisited on her NBI, passport, BC, and everything else. I noticed that she signed her DS-230 as Ona Burton leaving out Maria on her first name. She said that is the way she signs her name sometimes. Do you think I should have any concern that I didn't get an NBI check on Ona Burton? Or should I have her sign a affidavit saying they are one of the same person?

    Again Thanks

  3. Again thank you VJ

If there is an O listed, it means that you submitted an original and nothing more is needed for it. If a D is listed, it means that you sent a certified copy, in which case you send the original for the interview in case it is asked for. D means that you scanned a document and the original will be needed at the embassy.

NBI is required which should be listed as a Philippine Police Clearance. A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. So yes there is a difference between police clearance and police certificate. Police clearance for everyone, police certificate only if lived outside the Philippines.

  4. Just got my email for IR2 interview date and had a couple of questions. Under document status description and name. Looks like I have everything that they requested but I noticed that there where a couple of "O" listed under document status. "O" means The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements. My question is are they using the word "post" as an location? which means that it meets the NVC requirements as it stands but may not meet USEM requirement upon viewing? Or are they saying they might need a different type of form or paper to meet final requirement at USEM. My second question is. I already have an NBI clearance do I still need a police certificate? Is there a different from police clearance and police certificate? The two items I got "O" listed under status are Birth Certificate and Police Certificate.

    Thanks for all your help

  5. Looking at my daughters BC 'Certificate Of Live Birth' both the long form and NSO show time of birth, doctors name.registry number, date of registration, Child Name, child Sex, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Name of mother, name of Father, Citizenship of mother/father, occupation, religion, date and place of parents, both have the same info. The long form info is used to make the official NSO form. The only thing I see different is yours says "Certification of Birth"

The NSO is the official document.

Now I do have Certificate of Live Birth which has Mother/ father occupation, religion on it, but it is from Office Of The Civil Registrar General and not from NSO. Was your daughter also adopted? and was your certificate of live birth amended after the adoption.

  6. I'm getting ready for my interview for an IR2 adoption case in Philippines. My concern is my daughter BC. I have one that is on NSO paper but don't think it is the Long form. I think long form should show time of birth, and doctor name. My family in the Philippines say that is not so in adoption cases. My child BC just has "Certification of Birth" across the top, Registry Number, Date of registration, Child Name, child Sex, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Name of mother, name of Father, Citizenship of mother/father, Date and place of parents". Do you know if this is the only one the U.S wants? If not do you know where I can find out what BC the U.S wants. Even though everything has been completed by NVC I just don't want to get to the interview and they say I have the wrong BC.

  7. Have a few question. Nvc case just completed for my adopted child.

I know the medical, interview, and CFO are left. Is there anything else I'm leaving out for travel back to the U.S?

Has anybody made or seen a check list of things to bring for medical or interview?

Is your passport sent to you after the interview? Or will they have it ready for you before you leave USEM? If they don't give it back at that time, and you've decided to take your CFO class before hand, do you have to travel back to Manila to receive your CFO sticker when you get your passport? If so does it have to be at the same location where you took the class? Does anybody have any opions on the best place to take your CFO classes?

    Thanks for all your help

  8. Yes she have to attend the CFO class.. 13 or 16 y/o (not pretty sure if 13y/o or 16 the starting age) upward are the age that required to attend the class.. I don't think they have office at Clark.. I paid 650 php!!!

    Thank you very much.

Is this something we can get done ahead of the interview? If yes do you know if it's only good for so long?

  9. Just sent in my IV package to NVC seven days ago for my adopted child who is now 18 yrs old. Will she have to go to this CFO seminar before she can travel? Is there a CFO location close to Clark? Is this something that we can get done before the interview? What is the cost of this seminar?

  10. i don't want to highjack newbie's thread but i posted a similAR QUESTION ABOUT THE I-130 PETITION MY WIFE AND I ARE T

you can email me maybe I can help you with that, My case is with NVC at the immigrant visa application Part 1. One step away from interview I hope

I don't want to high jack newbies thread but i posted a similar question about the i-130 petition my wife and I are trying to get approved for our adopted son in the Philippines and no one has replied yet. Does any one have any idea what I might have done wrong in posting my question. We could really use some of the group's insight to help us through this i-130 process. thank you.

    Richard

  11. We had all our packets ready to send once the AOS and IV bills had been paid so a little bit of prep work before does save time.

From the date NVC it's taken 1 week for processing of each packet. I had to re-send my DS-230 because of an error in question 30 so i would advise re-checking all questions.

James' shortcuts have been very useful in this process and helped tremendously.

can you pass on james short cuts,

Congrat!!!!! Good luck on your interview

  12. There are three ways to bring an adopted child to the USA(I-800,I-600 or I-130). You chose the I-130 and in this case in order for USCIS to approve the I-130 petition you need to accrue 2 full years of legal and physical custody of the adopted child, the parents should have accrued the two years before filing I-130. From NVC to the US Consulate will take 20/30 days. You need to bring to the Interview all papers related with the full and a final adoption of the child, birth certificate of the child, your marriage certificate, your birth certificate and your wife birth certificate as well, evidence home state's pre-adoptions requirements have been met,I-864 .

Pre-Hague adoptive parents need to file the form DS-1981(regarding immunizations within 30 days of the child's entry in the U.S.A) etc...Good luck.

Yes it's a family member, we have met are two year leagal custody and resident. Adoption was approved by the courts and children sevices in the Philippines, due to child being neglected by her birth parents. Dsw ( child social worker) would not take her case due to us being in the US and able to provide for all her needs. Her grandparents were taking care of her with our help until both of them passed away within six months of each other. We have a home there, but the natual parents live next door. They have never gave any parental care or decission on this child behalf. Since this was a Petition for alien relative I-130. would we still have to evidence from home state pre- adoption requirement to take to the interview?

Approval of the I-130 means that based on the information you provided, the adopted child can apply for a visa. It does not mean that the US government accepts the relationship as legitimate and not for an immigration purpose. Approval doesn't mean the child qualifies for a visa.

If your reasoning was valid, then approval of the I-130 in an IR-1/CR-1 case would mean that USCIS has accepted the marriage relationship as valid and not for an immigration purpose. We know that is not true.

You still haven answered how the child was adopted. If you want good answers to your questions, then you need to give us the relevant information. Otherwise, you'll get general answers that may not apply to you.

  13. How was this child adopted?

Approval of the I-130 is only the first step.

Depending on how the chil was adopted, and whether the child is related to the adopted parent can impact the case.

If you adopted your niece with her father and mother's permission, the approved I-130 is meaningless since the adoption is deemed to be solely for the purpose to immigrate a niece that otherwise could not immigrate to the US.

With the approval of the I-130 should mean that it was'nt done for that purpose. the interview should be the next step to prove that also

  15. Hello everyone:

New to this. My I-130 was approved for my adopted child and now my case is with NVC. I have already sent in AOS, DS-230 and the AOS form. Now I'm waiting on NVC. wanted to know if anyone knows about how much time is still left before the interview? what kind of questions they will ask? and what kind of infomation I should bring to the interview. I filed here in the US, will I have to bring more evidence to the interview or will they just need what I already have sent in with my I-130
