I was but was grandfathered in from my aunt filing for my mother a few years ago I will have to check my form and see which one and the date. I am not positive but to my understanding she would not have to leave the country cuz 1 she is marrying a USC and 2 she can show proof that he was present in the us dec of 00 or 01 again not positive I can double check.

Yes, take your birth certificate and old passport tell them that you would like to add your married last name. It will just be "name maiden last name de married last name". If she took your last name on the marriage certificate that is a legal name change so all her paperwork to uscis shoul be under her married last name.

It is date it was issued, should be same day you applied. My wife appled 09/04/2012 and that's date on her SSN card.

Do all new ones have them? Or just visa holders?

This is probably a little late, but mine was a good experience. The IO was friendly she asked me for my Identification and my husbands, tax records, proof of being here in dec 2000 (my particular case) and just the questions on the sheet that we already answered.

I got my green card in the mail today!!! I am so happy, it would have been exactly 4 months on the 8ths of sept that I mailed in my aos packet. Good luck to you all on your journey.

I just checked the uscis website, and it says mail was picked up at the uscis on aug 30th. I however have a couple questions:

1) how long did it take you to get your GC in the mail ?

2) I've seen a few people mention tracking numbers, how do you or when do you get those?

3) does it come with the regular mail man?

I sent in my AOS packet lat on May8th. I had my interview today and was approved!! I am so happy it is finally over! I won't be fully relieved til I get my card but one last thing and I'm done. Good luck to all of you on your journey.

I had my AOS interview today, and approved she said I would get my GC in 2-3 weeks. My question is can I go to SSA and apply for an SSN with no conditions? Or don't have to wait til I receive my actual card?

Hey there! I'm amazed of how helpful this website is! I have a question, I would appreciate it if anyone can help.

I'm currently applying for AOS through my husband. I don't have an employment permit yet. I have been working since I was 18 years old now 22. I quit my job because I'm applying for AOS and my husband thought that would be the most ideal thing to do. How ever, I find myself wanting to go back to work. Does anyone know what USCIS does to people who are working without a permit when they're in the process of AOS? or even when they were not applying? Has anyone had this experience before? Thank you, and would appreciate any answers. Please no disrespect.

Did you marry a USC? Or was naturalized or GC holder? I was told that because (if you did) marry a USC that working without a permit was forgiven. I don't know why or if this this true but it is what I heard. I would check the dates of your local office to see how Lon your aos process will be and determine from there whether you need to file for an EAD

Is that all you need an EAD? I have not gotten my GC yet.

Is there restrictions on that SSN or should I just wait for my GC to get one with no restrictions is there are some ?

Can you apply for a ssn with just the EAD? I had heard people sayin the get a ssn beginning with 0 or 1 anyone heard of this? Any input would be appreciated.

Could I get an SSN with it? When you get your GC does your SSN start with a 0 or 1? I have heard/read people say that twir SSN started with a 0 or 1

I don't know but I would over prepare an take copies of your passport if you have one, marriage certificate, kids birth certificate if you have one. Any proof you have your marriage is real bank statements pictures etc. please let me know if you hear differently

I would take a copy of everything you submitted of possible just in case. Worst case te won't ask for some stuff, better safe than sorry

EAD in hand!! So happy, will have my interview at the end of the month still.i never even got an email saying it was in production it just came!!!
