  1. Hey guys! We received the case numbers last week for my parents. However,  my dad's name was incorrect. It was basically my dad's first name and my moms first name. I don't think i made the typo on the original petition since all the other documents were correct ( birth certificate, marriage certificate etc). I sent nvc 2 emails. No response. Should we just continue or wait ? Thanks!

    Update:

After eight months of waiting, we got RFE. :(  (Potomac)
They did not accept translated (multilingual) birth and marriage files from the
    Vital Statistics Bureau .
Interestingly, such a birth certificate was accepted when my daughter was naturalized.

uh oh! :( I am a March filler but i sent the translations to their birth certificates and marriage license that i did myself and notarized them. My friend translated them herself the same way and got approved. You don't have to wait all over again right?

Having an IOE number is one the worst things that could have happened to anyone applying for Naturalization. This is due to the failure of the new ELIS system that USCIS implemented to process everything "electronically" and didn't work out as expected.

AFAIK there's a period between April and August when all the N400 filers got an IOE number, which meant they would be processed under the new ELIS system. As you might have heard, the issues created a backlog and it goes from bad to worst depending on your Field Office, there are people that filed in late April that are barely getting their appointments scheduled in October.

For comparison people that have NBC numbers that filed in September are already in line for interview, this again depends on the Field Office, your back ground and the alignment of the stars and the moon the day you were born .... anyhow... just venting a little bit.

    oh no.... well shoot....

  4. I will assume that you are an IOE filer as well and the unfortunate answer is some other people are seeing delays on their biometrics scheduling.

You can always contact them and see if they can give you an update. Good luck !

ok , just to confirm, when you say delays on their biometrics scheduling, you mean for them to update the status after i have already went, right?

  5. The general opinion is that if you have the option between 5-year residency application and marriage-based application, to go with the 5-year one since it requires less documentation and fewer questions asked during the interview.

That's what i thought. It looks pretty simple application. I was about to do it 2 years ago but then i got pregnant and i was too stressed out as it was :)

    Thanks!!!
