  1. Hi! So after a few years my husband and I decided to petition for my mom.

Straight to the questions. She's been coming to visit us frequently with her tourist visa (she is a grandma now so she wants to see her grandbaby)

    1. Can we start the paperwork while she is staying here with us?

    2. I'm a stay at home mother at the moment so the only income is from my husband, will that be ok? (we already checked the poverty guidelines)

Any help will be very appreciate it!

We want to make sure we are doing this forms and payments right.

    Thank you!

  2. Other than the possibility of the tickets being expensive, no immigration issues at all. You might want to compare one-way verses a flexible ticket where you can make changes to the travel date. You are going to your country of citizenship so no issues of needing a RT. Returning to the US you are a LPR so again no need of a RT ticket.

Dave! Thank you so much for your help!

  3. Hello guys!

I have a question. Long story short i'm planning to visit my home country for the first time since I came to the US. I wanted to go a couple of months and in the last week of that trip my husband was going to travel to be with me and my family and then both coming back to the US again. Like we still don't know when exactly my husband will be able to go because of his work we were thinking that i could purchase a one way ticket and after that when my husband can have an exact day for him to travel he can purchase his round trip ticket and another one way ticket for me (from my home country to the US). My question is if there will be any problem that i'm just travelling with one way ticket? I receive my green card this last December.

    Thank you!

  4. Hello everyone. This is Darrell from Utah and Cris lives near Manila, Philippines. We are waiting for NOA2 and this is an exciting forum. Best wishes to everyone.

Hello you two! sending positive energy for your journey! Good luck!

  5. Yes, all the AOS package was in the single last name. Our bank, USAA, allowed me to convert to joint account on checking/savings and credit card. I had to send the marriage certificate as well as an IRS Form for foreign aliens , then they changed the accounts. The bank supplied the form they needed. I don't remember the form number. Hope this all helps.

Thank you so much!!! It helps!

  6. So today my husband and i decided to start making the paperwok for the AOS.

First stop was to the Social Security office........

They couldn't change my name because they said that my name should be changed first on my i-94 ..... I even told the lady that in their same page they say that i can show my unexpired i-94 and it will be fine (also with my marriage certificate) and she told me NO..... i have no idea what to do now.

Then we went to the bank to change my name on my credit and debit card but for that they need an ID

    We are lost ...... :help:

Would it be ok to send my social security, credit and debit card with my single last name for the AOS?

  8. You just move and then use your new address on all the AOS forms. If you move again after filing, then you need to let them know > http://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

~ Moved from K-1 Progress Reports to AOS from Family Based Visas ~

You can either file the AOS now then just send a request for address change once you moved, OR you can move first then file your AOS with your new address.. We had the same situation, we moved first then filed AOS with new address..

    Good Luck!

You can let USCIS know about your change of address or you can just wait till you are accommodated in your new house and file the AOS. I think maybe you should move first.

Thank you ALL!!!! I apreciate your answers!!!! :)

  9. My Interview is tomorrow. Any advice or tips? Your replies will be highly appreciated.. More power guys!???

    Hello!

Well the tip is being calm. Don't show you are nervous and be totally sure about your answers. Don't lie about everything because they know more than you can imagine. With that everything will be fine, don0t worry.

Wish you good luck. I know that feeling of anxiety before the intervie star_smile.gifstar_smile.gifstar_smile.gif

  10. I got an email from the embassy this morning. They said my husband's visa has been issued and he has to be in the States by March 9, 2014.

Most of you know our story. We were in AP 16 months when our visa got denied because the embassy said we were not legally married because I am a Christian and he is Muslim. We hired an immigration attorney and won our appeal. Our case was sent back to the embassy where we were kept in AP almost another 2 years.

My husband is strong and he kept our marriage together through the long wait.

I want to thank all my friends on visa journey that supported us and encouraged us through the years.

    CONGRATULATIONSSSSSSSS

  11. Fiancee got the visa today....it's the most beautiful document I've ever seen, barring our upcoming marriage certificate! Many thanks to all the helpful VJ members who guided us along the way. Total process time from mailing off I-129F to Visa in hand = 5 months and 1 day. Next up, her arrival in three weeks. So excited! Best wishes to everyone still waiting, here's hoping to a speedy process for you!

    Congrats!!

    Than feeling is amazing!

  12. Hello I am a newbie and first time,

I NEED SOME HELP. I AM SO SORRY IT WILL BE A LIL BIT LONG FOR YOU TO UNDERSTANT MY STORY! PLEASE BARE WITH ME.

    Please read the following:

    • Husband does not buy groceries for he eat with his parents upstairs and, so I ate given food from friends and church.

    • No regular allowance, I feel trapped in the full basement.

    • I was so worried of my physical situation because most of the time I am alone waiting my husband for the whole day.

    • No regular groceries because he always brings left over foods from his job

. • He deprives me of my rights as a wife to work, even though I have education and a college degree.

    • Most of the time he spends time with his parents and not with me as his wife. We never discuss about our future together or any plans with status adjustment.

    • Sometimes when his step father gets drunk, he throws bad words to me like, '######' which traumatizes me. That is why I don’t like to go with them.

    • The heater is shut off or set very low during day time when my husband is work. I feel so cold on the basement that is why sometimes I go to library or church and friend to warm my body.

    • I love my husband very much. I clean, I cook, I take care of him every day, and when he gets sick. I feel I am wronged. He doesn’t meet his obligations and responsibilities as a husband.

    • The worst thing happened was when he left me asleep on December 2013.Together with his parents (my in-laws) they went to some place again to celebrate New Year's Eve. He doesn't give me enough importance and concern. He didn't think that something might happen to me during that night when they were away. I don't feel I am his priority at this time.

I met my husband through Facebook last December of 2010 until he officially visited me in the Philippines last August 2011. Then he filed a petition for me last February 5, 2012. I received my Fiancée Visa last February 2013. God knows how much I love my husband. I love the way he communicated with me through email and on webcam when I was in still in my country. He promised me everything and said I’m the woman he wants to be with for the rest of his life. I was so happy to know that from him. He was caring and loving when I was in the Philippines. He regularly replies to every message I sent him on chat back then. Despite the fact I was busy working at the office and taking a Master’s degree program I was still able to manage my time with him. Then we both decided to get married. My parents gave me their blessings and agreed with my decision. So, I resigned from my job from the office as a secretary of the Technical Director where I worked for almost five years. I also quit attending my Master’s degree classes so I can be with him. Before I came here I asked the Lord for guidance. I needed His guidance because I could not imagine how my life will be like away from my parents, relatives, friends and co-workers, and to live the rest of my life with him in a whole new environment here in the US. Because I love him I gave up hundreds of people whom I love and cherish. It was a tough decision for me to make since I have never been away from home, my country. I was blessed to have a loving family and good environment and a successful career when I was in the Philippines. Now I feel so sad that those things are gone. My husband decided to visit me again in the Philippines for the second time last June 3- 13, to bring me to America. During that time I had mixed emotions. I felt sad for leaving my homeland and at the same time happy for I will be with the man I loved forever. I arrived in United States of America last June 2013. I felt very happy when I came here and I even asked myself whether I was dreaming or not. I am now with the one I love and be with him for the rest of my life. I thank the Lord for bringing me here. When I arrived here, my husband parents warmly welcomed me at the airport. We live at his parent’s house in a full basement. At first everything was fine and we’re all okay with each other, I watched and observed their daily activities. Until one day I realized how much my husband spends time with his mom – MORE than with me. They would go out until late in the evening to walk the dog. He spends most of the time with his mother upstairs watching TV rather than spending time with me. He always leave me alone in the basement. Sometimes his mother would borrow my husband’s car and would drop him at work at and picks him up again at night time. I remember I was asking his mother if can I go with them when she drives my husband to work and she said no because she will be back right away. In my mind I just want to be with my husband and would just like to get out of the basement for a while and at the same time enjoy their company. They always go out without me. There was a time when I got home from the church around 11:30 in the morning and found out that he and his mom went somewhere without waiting for me. I read his note that her mother woke him up to go to the store. So I called his step dad and asked him where my husband was and he said maybe they bought a filter then I noticed they’ve been gone from 11:30am to 4:00pm just to get a filter. I felt I have no right to judge him because they have their own routine in life before I arrived here though I have to remind them that he is already married, that we should spend more time together. Every time I get mad at him or confronted him to remind him with all the changes in his life now, they misinterpreted it by saying that I’m controlling him. I don’t know what to do as it is hard to live with in-laws. I remember his step father asking me why I always go to church in the morning and my husband is not morning goer anyway. I asked myself why I have to explain everything since I am the wife. With all these, I am worried that my husband is going to work everyday and yet I am left trapped in the basement alone and cold. I’m not comfortable as they turn the heater off when my husband goes to work. I have not apply for adjustment status for he will not sign the form 864. He is afraid of what it is being said in the papers, so he decided to divorce me and want to send me back home.

Do I have a case against him?

What should I do? To all negative commentator just save your negative words for me as I am already confused and do not know what to do. Please do not add more frustration. I need some guidance here.

It is very simple. You love your husban, ok. But he is not showing you the same. He is treating you as a prisioner with no verbal or physical abuse. On the other side you describe how amazing your life was in your home country. The answer is there, in front of you. Go back and start again with the people that love you a lot and with the degree that you already have. Seems that you are way more happy and with more possibilities in the Philippines.

    Good Luck!

  13. Hi Everyone,

I just want to let you all know I got Married after 10 years living together to my same sex partner in San Francisco - on a beautiful afternoon in a boat on the bay with family and friends. 14. Hello VJ family!

My fiance and I are in the final stretch. His interview is at the embassy in Lima Peru on January 30th

My fiance had his medical exam back on December 9th and he picked up his sealed results a week after.

Just today the clinic where he had his medical exam called him to come in and get more shots, an update of the shots since it has been a month.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this normal and necessary for the interview? We're not sure if the shots have to be up to date within a month of the interview or if it's a routine the clinic goes through. Sadly it means more money, we wouldn't have accepted the early medical exam date if had known.

    Thank you!

Cristi i called back and nobody knows anything .... ugh!

But what i know is that before leaving Lima i should put another shot so by the time i start teh AOS i don't need to get more shots in the US.

Look at the copy the doctor gave to him as Susysteely said.. in fact i'm checking mine.

  15. Any one know if it's necessary? smile.png

    Cristiiii

hi! well it seems that it could be possible because today i received a call from the hospital, i didn't get to answer but when i call back someone told me "maybe it's because there have been an update i don't know, i can't give you more information" so i never knew why they call but now reading this maybe it's because a new shot. That would have been annoying. Maybe is for the influenza shot.

    Good luck!!

  16. Hi Everyone,

I sent my packet in for the K 1 in on Sunday night and it said it will be delivered on Tuesday to the Dallas office! I hope I did it right, very nervous about it. My fiance is in the Philippines and I hope to bring her here soon! I have enjoyed reading what others are saying about there experiences with the K 1 visa.

    Bill

Good luck on your K1 journey.

The advice i can give is always stay in contact with your fiance and communicate a LOT.

    Also update your timeline :)

  18. My Peruvian husband and I are doing the I-130 and G-325A right now but we are having doubts about the address. In Peru, they don't have states. The country is broken into cities, and he lives in Lima. So for the part on the G-325A where it asks for his address, there is a space for the city, then the state, then the country. What should I put for the state line? Similarly in the the I-130, in line 2, it asks for the "Town or City" and the "State/Country." How should I go about filling those in?

    Hey

what i did for the town or city "Lima 33" (33 is the area code) and the state country Lima-Peru.

    Good Luck
