  1. She's been here in the US for 7 years with only 30 days worth outside of US for trips. She can already apply although my question is her being separated with her husband affect her chances of acquiring a US citizenship since she might need to ask some paper works to sign from her husband.

    1. I think so, She's now in her 7th year in the US.

    2. Not legally divorced but separated since 2010.

    3. In 2008.

    4. They were filing taxes together since she came in the US in 2007 up to 2010. Since then 2011-present they were filing jointly.

Thank you for the replies! :)

At number 4. Typo. Separately not jointly. They are filing their taxes individually now since 2011.

  2. What is the resident since date on her green card She must wait for 5 years ( - 90 days) to be able to file assuming no long trips out of the US

    A few Qs.

    1. Did she successfully remove conditions from her conditional greencard?

    2. Is she *legally divorced, not separated?

    3. When did she become a permanent resident?

    4. During the marriage, were they filing taxes jointly before separating?

Good day guys! biggrin.png Just asking for your opinion about the PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminars) in the Philippines because there's a bit confusing part regarding their requirements for minors.

On this page titled (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminars) - http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1378%3Apre-departure-registration-and-orientation-seminars&catid=145%3Aintegration-and-reintegration&Itemid=833

    It says that

Those who are 12 years old and below are exempted from attending the PDOS. They must, however, be registered, even if by proxy. Children of emigrants, aged 13 to 19, are required to attend the Peer Counseling Program to help facilitate their adjustment to a new environment.

For youth emigrants aged 13 to 17, the following additional documents are also required:

    1. Photocopy of parent's passport or valid identification card, if accompanied by parent/s during registration
    2. Letter of authorization from parent/s authorizing the guardian to register the child with CFO on their behalf (if accompanied by guardian during registration)
    3. Original and photocopy of DSWD travel clearance (click here for the new guidelines on issuance of travel clearance)

As a Filipino emigrant, or those who have been granted an immigrant-class visa, you are required by the Philippine Government by virtue of Article 19 of Presidential Decree No. 442, to register with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas before leaving the country to settle in a foreign land. An emigrant who has properly registered with the commission will have in his passport the CFO sticker which will be inspected by the Bureau of Immigration upon departure.

Registration to the CFO requires the emigrant to present originals and photocopies of relevant documents, for Emigrants / Immigrant Workers Online Pre-registration (click here), attend the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) or the Peer Counseling Seminar, and pay the authorized registration fee. The PDOS is a brief, two-hour seminar on settlement issues and concerns such as finding employment, rights and obligations of immigrants as well as policies and procedures on how to secure foreign citizenship. The Peer Counseling Seminar is a special session for those with ages 13 to 19 years, which aims to prepare them emotionally for the adjustments they will have to take.

For youth emigrants aged 13 to 19, the following additional documents are also required:

What do you think guys do I still need to issue a travel clearance even if I'm not a minor anymore?

    Maraming salamat in advance. yes.gifbiggrin.png

  5. Yes. Only the latest ITR and W2 is needed. Goodluck! Hope you get your visa issuance too soon!

yes ONLY ONE LATEST ITR 2012 W2 that's fine goodluck

Yup, i only have the latest, ready.. Goodluck!

    Thanks! smile.png

Can I ask if it's ok to have the ITR scanned? Also the W2 forms, paystubs, birth certificate? Can a joint sponosr with 131k annual income with 4 household members be qualified to co-sponsor two persons?

We also had a second sponsor, no child only 2 members with 76k annual income.

Is the the two of them enough cause the first sponsor was rejected because he didn't meet the quota. Now they are asking for a new one, and for us to be really sure two of my mom's friend helped us. Thank you.

  6. Hello. :) I'd like to ask if:

    1. If it's allowed for a green card holder to be a joint sponsor?

    2. Is it allowed to have 2 or 3 or even more joint sponsors? My mom's friend helped us to be our Joint-Sponsor but sadly he didn't meet the quota. And we've learned that another major reason why he can't be our joint sponsor is because he's a retired senior citizen. http://www.visajourney.com/content/support (BOX 2)

    3. The two additional joint sponsors are green card holders. My mom is petitioning me and my brother. Do we have to get only one of them as the second joint sponsor or get both of them? If only one is allowed which one should we choose as the second joint sponsor?

3A - Mom's friend that is residing in her house with 56k annual income. (Age,30+)

3B - Mom's friend that is not residing with her with 40-70k? annual income. (Age,40+)

Thank you very much, God bless!! :D

  7. Fedex? Aren't you supposed to mail it via 2go as instructed on your 221g form?

We sent it to USPS pala. Because my mom taught it would be faster.

I replied to your previous post in F2A from Phillipines.

    Thank you so much!!! smile.png

I suggest call the US Embassy. Talk to someone and explain that you have already complied with the requirements. Good luck!

    Thank you!! smile.png

We already called it and they still gave the same response.

But we will try again to say to them that we already sent the Joint Sponosr documentes through USPS.(It was USPS not Fedex)

  8. Thank you for the replies. :)

As of my reading on your letter, it should be YOU. Did you send all documents being asked?

Yes we sent them already on April 22, we sent them on USPS pala not FedEx. sorry.

My mom called there, and the lady didn't give any concrete answers just the usuals like to send them an email and comply the documents.

Your mother sent you the documents, right? The instruction on the 221g form says that those docs should be mailed to USEM via 2GO, meaning it should be YOU who will mail it in.

How many 221g forms did you receive?

Or better yet, call USEM directly para malaman kung ano pa kailangan nila from you or kung nareceive nga nila yung docs na pinadala niyo. yes.gif

Meron kaming na receive na 221g but that was during our interview. Ikinomply namin lahat tulad ng ITR2012, new NBI ko, etc. except the joint sponsor kasi akala namin ok yung income ng mama ko, hindi pala kaya nagpadala sila ng letter na kelangan ng Joint Sponsor that was in April 17. Nung April 22 ipinadala na namin through USPS, at according to USPS tracking website naipadala na nila nung April 30 sa USEM.

On May 1 we asked for an update, tapos nung May 3 nagemail sila na nareceive na nila ung documents.

We tried to call USEM and they still give the same response. The Joint Sponsor is a senior citizen, neighbor nila and a good friend. He met the required income. Is he qualified? Baka kasi nadeny.

    Thank you again. :D

My question is, who should send these files? Is it supposed to be my mother, the joint-sponsor or us(individually)? They've been asking the same things and we complied them. I'm really confused because it seems that they are still not satisfied and it is really aggravating.

Thank you once again. God bless.

  12. Getting a joint-sponsor is the easiest way to get through this.

You can check the poverty income guidelines here: http://www.***removed***/affidavit-of-support/i-864p-poverty-guidelines.html

Even if you do meet the required income, they might ask for your previous ITR in 2010 and 2011. And ultimately you'll still going to get a joint-sponsor.

If their interview happens on 2014, make sure to send your 2013 ITR cause they will need it there.

  13. As long na tama ung address at nkalagay ang case number nyo and impt info as instructed, i dont think it will cause u any problem. Goodluck!

Mom should send it to you, then you mail it to USEM via 2GO as instructed on your 221g form.

  14. Is it the only thing US embassy asking for? If yes, i dont see any problem if your mom will be the one sending it directly to them. But if there are more documents you need to submit and you have them, better send the I-864 to u first so you can compile all documents and send them altogether.

yeah, there's no more documents that US embassy needs from us puro lang sa nanay ko. So I guess it will be better.

But 2go is the recognized courier of the USEM. Will it affect anything kung ipapasa namin directly sa USEM, baka kasi magkaebrya or anything. Thanks.

  15. I-864A:

This contract is intended to benefit the sponsored immigrant(s) and any agency of the Federal Government, any agency of a State or local government, or any private entity to which the sponsor has an obligation under the affidavit of support to reimburse for benefits granted to the sponsored immigrant. This contract may be enforced in any court with appropriate jurisdiction. By signing this form, a household member who is not a sponsored immigrant, agrees to make his or her income and/or assets available to the sponsor to help support the immigrant for whom the sponsor has filed an affidavit of support.

So in your case, it should be I-864, since your mom lives in a different house and has different household size now. If her friend still want to help you, she/he will be a joint sponsor and file a separate I-864.

How to File an Affidavit of Support

You, the sponsor, should complete Form I-864 when your relative has been scheduled for an immigrant visa interview with a consular officer overseas or when your relative is about to submit an application for adjustment to permanent resident status with the USCIS or with an Immigration Court in the United States. If you have a joint sponsor, they must also complete Form I-864. If you are using the income of other household members to qualify, then each household member who is accepting legal responsibility for supporting your relative must complete a separate Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member.

I see. So that's what were going to send. Thank you so much! And thanks for the great read now I understand better. :D

I have a little question, is it ok if my mom will send these files to the US embassy manila? Or does she need to send it to me and then I'll send it through 2go? Thanks.

  16. Good day, :) Emergency question. My mom has an insufficient income so we are asked to have a joint-sponsor. The problem is my mom lived with her good friend(the co-sponsor) when our papers were submitted to the embassy. On july 2012 my mom moved out to another house although just a few blocks away from her friend. When we had our interview, whatever papers we had to file or submit the address that was written was the current one.

What do you think is the best to submit? I-864 or I-864A. Your answers would mean a lot us, Thank you and God bless. :)

  17. Good day po, :) Emergency question po. Kasi po my mother has an insufficient income so we are asked by the embassy to have a joint-sponsor. Now we are having a problem as to what we are going to submit, I-864 or I-864A?

Ask ko lang po kung what is the best decision among here, I-864 or I864A ba ang ipapasa namin sa Embassy?

Maraming salamat po! Your answers would mean a lot us. God bless po. :)

  18. Hello. :) Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section. I would just like to ask if what are the requirements if a Senior Citizen files for a joint-sponsorship(I-864)?

My mom didn't meet the quota because her income is not sufficient. So a good friend of my mom would like to help us to file for a joint-sponsorhip. What are the factors to consider for the joint sponsorship to be approved? Given we submitted all the proper documents, does being a senior citizen, his residence or any other to consider affects anything? Thanks! :)
