  1. i filed for CRBA for our baby a week after my K1 visa interview. i think we just got lucky because few minutes after i got our November 14 appointment, when i check again for an earlier date, the next schedule was january 2013. sometimes, others would cancel their crba appointment, so just try checking every now and then.:) I used my baby's crba appointment letter as one of my proofs for my interview. you can set the crba appointment for april 2013 and print it and just cancel it when you see an earlier date. it's ok if you wont be able to accompany your wife on her CR1 interview. i went to my interview without my fiance(US citizen) even if he's been living here in philippines with me and our baby. but it's better if you will be able to be there on your baby's crba appointment.

good luck and God bless! :)

  2. . . .I plan on going to the K-1 Visa interview with my Lady and am wondering if I can bring in my Cellphone? How about Snacks / Water / Book??? Any insight from a US Citizen who has accompanied his Lady to the interview???? I know, make sure I bring my US Passport. . . Thanks in advance! By the way I am in TUG now. . .

If you are a US citizen you will be allowed to bring your cellphone. You just have to leave it with the security when you enter the first door. You are not allowed to bring food inside the US embassy. DOn't worry about this because they sell food inside. Book is fine. Good luck on your interview and K1 visa journey!!!

  3. Perhaps the person who told her that thought that she's a fiancee and not a wife. Almost all children born out of wedlock to a US citizen father are being "asked" (because the web site says they do not require it) to undergo DNA testing. The other reason is because your wife did not have the official NSO issued birth certificate for your child. Once you comply with this, then it should be okay. I don't think that you would be required a DNA test unless dates on your documents do not match. These dates are your presence there, and the date of your child's conception, birth, etc.

Yes, you can have a DNA test without being here. They have contracts with laboratories there were samples are sent. St. Lukes here only handles the paperwork but not the actual lab testing.

Joshuaching is right to say this! <The other reason is because your wife did not have the official NSO issued birth certificate for your child. Once you comply with this, then it should be okay. I don't think that you would be required a DNA test unless dates on your documents do not match. These dates are your presence there, and the date of your child's conception, birth, etc.>

In our case, even our baby is born out of wedlock, we were not asked to do the DNA test because, 1.) we have the complete requirements, 2.) my fiance was there, 3.)our baby resembles her dad. Thank God we were approved and got our child's passport after 2 weeks.

But just like what I've said, don't worry too much for now. Just make sure your wife gets all the requirements before the appointment. And Yes, NSO birth certificate is very important.

God bless you and your wife!:)

  4. my baby looks alot like me, everyone was telling my wife that she said while she was in the waiting lobby when she showed them pics, my wife has pics of us together at the time of her gettting pregnant and our wedding, also she has a copy of my passport which shows i was there. but i will not be with her at the interview because of my work, also she has my a copy of my birth certificate and a bunch of other thing like all the required documentaion and my irs tax transcript(all notarized) and screenshots of our fb conversations.

Don't worry about the DNA test for now. All she needs to do is to secure an authenticated birth certificate from NSO and then book a CRBA appointment. Booking an appointment is hard since the last time I checked, the available schedules are January 2013. When she has all the requirements, she just go the Embassy with your baby and see if the they will ask her again to do the DNA test.

  5. the person who told my wife was just the person who takes the papers not the interviewer, do you think there is still a chance she dosent have to get a dna test done? can my wife still get her cr1 visa if the crba is not yet done?

The first person she talked to was a Filipino. They are pre screeners. They will check your requirements before you will have an interview with US Consuls. They will take all the requirements, ask you to pay the fee and will ask you questions. In my experience, she asked me if I know when our baby was conceived since I'm a nurse. She checked our passport stamps(our strong proof that we were together when our baby was conceived). So if she looks at your papers and doubt that the baby is really yours and you can't prove that you were together when the baby was conceived, more likely, she will ask your wife to do DNA test.

***********can my wife still get her cr1 visa if the crba is not yet done?

    > A week before we went for CRBA, I had my interview for K1 Visa Application. I was approved. I told them, my fiance and I have a baby and I showed them our baby's birth certificate and that we are filing for CRBA a week after my interview. I showed them our appointment letter for CRBA.

  6. Im in America an am a American citizen my wife is Filipino, im filing a cr1 visa for her now. I gathered up all the required documentation and sent it to her, she gathered the rest of the supporting evidence and went to the Certificate of Birth Abroad appointment i had booked, i could not go because of my work here. When she got there they said that the LCR birth certificate she had for our child was invalid and they needed a NSO birth certificate, and that all her papers were perfect but she needed a nso birth certificate, well my baby is 2 months old and the NSO will not issue our child a birth certificate till she is 3 months old. I can handle that but then they said once my wife gets that info that a DNA test will be required, im so stressed out right now can someone please please tell me how do i get my dna there? What will happen? How long does it take? And how much does it cost?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My fiance(American Citizen) and I filed the CRBA 16 days ago. I gave birth last October 11, 2012 and got my baby's birth certificate from NSO 32 days after I gave birth. I went to Local Civil Registry in Quezon City to ask for an endorsement letter. They forwarded my baby's birth certificate to NSO (advance endorsement)3 weeks after I gave birth. I brought the letter to NSO main office (East Avenue, Quezon City) and they asked me to go to their other building (old one) to ask Ms Chatty (supervisor on 4th floor) to expedite the process for an authenticated birth certificate. 1 day before my daughter's US embassy appointment for CRBA, I was able to get her birth certificate.

DNA is not needed unless the Consul will advise your wife to do so. With our experience, my fiance was with me and our daughter, and they checked our papers and had an interview for 3 minutes and we were approved. 13 days after the appointment, our baby's passport was delivered along with her CRBA certificate. They will usually tell you in the EMbassy to wait for 4 weeks but most people I know got their child's passport in 2 weeks or less.

NOTE: The most important thing they'll look into is proof that you and your wife were together during the time that the baby was conceived.

In our case, not only that we were able to show them passport stamps but also our baby resembles her dad too.;)

Good luck to you and your wife!:)

  7. my son`s passport took only 6 days after the interview! good luck..it will be there soon..

Thank you for the quick reply. :) When did you apply for CRBA?

Yep! Same as mine! Only took 6 days. Yep, I would think you can travel with him on the 5th! I would book my ticket if I were you although be sure that you can adjust/cancel the ticket once it gets delayed (be open to possibilities and consequences) but nonetheless, I think you will have it in a week or less! Goodluck! And Congrats!

Thank you for the quick reply. :) When did you apply for CRBA?

  8. Hi guys! We went to US Embassy Manila last November 14 for our baby's CRBA appointment. We got approved. Thank God! My question is, when will we receive the US passport? My fiance (USC) and now living here with us in Philippines is about to leave on Dec 5. We hope to leave together with him so it won't be difficult for me to travel with a less than 2 months old baby. Should we buy the ticket now and get the same flight as his?

    Thank you!:)

  9. After 6 working days from interview, my visa is finally in transit with 2go. Hope they deliver it tomorrow. Thank God. Now off to CFO next week. Hubby home by Tuesday. Busy days ahead.

Congrats! I got a text message from 2go this afternoon that my visa is about to be delivered. After more than an hour, i got my Visa. I had my interview last Thursday, November 8. I will be attending the seminar too next week.

  10. Few minutes ago I got a text message from 2Go(US Embassy Manila courier) informing me that my Visa is about to be delivered.

Last Wednesday, November 14, 2012, our baby's CRBA has also been approved. The interview lasted only for 3 minutes with 2 US Consuls and they said, expect your daughter's US Passport in 4 weeks.

God is good! Thank you God for all the blessings!

Now, we can all spend Christmas with my fiance's family in Santa Cruz, California.

    November 14, 2012 - APPROVED

  11. I gave birth October 11, 2012 and for the past few weeks I've been busy processing my baby's birth certificate. I asked the Local Civil Registry Quezon City for transmittal so they can forward my baby's record to National Statistics Office Main Branch. I went to NSO thrice in 2 weeks. Today, I finally got my baby's authenticated birth certificate and tomorrow morning is our appointment, 745 AM. Talking about divine intervention. Thank God!:)

  12. Hello guys!

I had my interview yesterday at Manila US Embassy and I got APPROVED! Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement and for the tips you shared. Now, I also wanted to shared my experience to my fellow Filipinas who are going to have their interview for their K1 Visa Application.

Before I start with my K1 experience, here's a little info about me and my fiance. My fiance's first visit was January 2012.I am living with my fiance here in Manila and we have a baby(29 days old). I gave birth last October 11, 2012. My fiance has been living with me since April 2012. He flew back here in Philippines for the second time after he found out that I am pregnant.

    - K1 EXPERIENCE -

After months and months of waiting, finally my big day arrived.

My appointment was November 8, 730 am at Manila US Embassy. I lived in Fairview, Quezon City so I woke up very early. I left the house 340 am and arrived at the Embassy at 440 am. When I got there, there were almost 200 hundred people waiting outside the embassy already including the companions of applicants ( friends, parents, neighbor, etc). Those who have 630am appointment were asked to fall in line first. I waited for the guard to call the 730 am applicants. Before 730, we were able to get inside the Embassy. On the entrance, we were asked to present our APPOINTMENT LETTER(letter with your info and delivery details for your visa and has bar code at the last page) AND PASSPORT. For the appointment letter, they need only the first page. They will put a sticker with your name on it at the back of your passport and they will put your passport inside the plastic. They will ask you if you are done with your medical exam with ST. LUKE'S and what did they give you after the medical exam(sealed envelope). I of course answered YES( done with my medical last October 30). We had to present our bags and envelopes to the guards for checking at the main entrance. YOU CAN'T BRING FOOD INSIDE THE EMBASSY. Don't worry if you get hungry, they are actually selling food inside the shed of the embassy. We have to fall in line again to get our number. There were 3 booths and they will ask you for your appointment letter again and that's the time they will give you your MAGIC NUMBER, mine is 6209. Never lose this. This will be your number till you finish your interview.

I waited for our numbers to flash on the queuing number board. After almost an hour of waiting, my number flashed. And so I enter the building and went to the designated booth. The girl asked for my DS forms(DS 156, DS156K, DS157) and then she told me to go back to my seat and wait.

I went back to the shed since there were no available chairs inside the embassy. I waited for almost 30 minutes again and saw my number flashed. This time, she asked for my name and birthdate. I did the finger print scanning (left and right hand). After this, I have to wait again for my number to flash on the board. This time, I'm getting nervous. It's the pre screening, a Filipino will ask questions and gather the forms. This is another long wait. My eyes were hurt looking at the queuing board and i had a terrible headache. I waited for almost 1 hour again. The Filipina asked my name, my fiance's name, how did we meet, does he have kids or do I have kids, what's his job. She asked me to give her my fiance's Income Tax Return. She asked for the latest which is 2011. She needs 2 pages of it. Also she asked for W2. When I told her that me and my fiance have a baby, she asked for the picture and birth certificate of the baby. I showed her and told her that we have an appointment next week for Consular Report of Birth Abroad here also at the Embassy. She wrote down all the info I gave her and then she told me good luck. I thanked her and smiled back at her. She is really nice.:)

I went back to my seat to wait for my final interview with the American Consul. I waited for almost an hour again. When I saw my number flashed, I went to booth #60 and I greeted the Consul good morning. He was in his late 20's and very good looking.;) So he asked me to scan four fingers of my right hand. After that he asked me to raise my right hand and swear. His questions were:

    - what's your fiance's name?

    - how did you meet?

    - for how long did you chat on line before you meet each other in person?

    - when was our first meeting?

    - where did we go during his first visit?

    - has he met my family?

    - what's his job in the US?

    - where are we going to reside in the US?

After this, the Consul said, everything is fine and your VISA has been approved. Just wait for further instructions from us.

Since it's almost 12 noon, we were asked to take our lunch and come back by 1.

By 1 pm, we were called by our names and then we were told that they will have our VISA delivered to our house or we can pick it up in any 2go branches near our place.

Thank God I was over this process. Thank you to everyone who helped me. One more step for me and my fiance before we can finally fly to US, our baby's passport.:) Wish us luck!

  13. it's okay if you will glue your picture on the form. i had my interview yesterday and there's one girl in the embassy and she also glued her picture on the form and she didn't have problem with it. she was approved just like me.:) pictures are not needed on the interview but just bring them. in my case i prepared 3 pictures but they never asked for it. maybe because we already submitted pictures during our medical exam. Good luck for tomorrow!:)
