  1. Wow!

Sounds like me and my hubby! We had issues too but he's here now and we're fine. His K1 visa was issued in Feb 2013 but he arrived in May 2013. I had doubts and we we're fighting as well. We were married in July 2013. Buy a roundtrip ticket, stay awhile and see what happens. Besides, you have 90 days from the time on entry. Step out on faith!! It's amazing what God will do!!!

    #loveandmarriage

  2. We decided on K1 because I wanted my fiance' to meet my family before getting married. The K1 and marriage seems about the same to me as it relates to the processing time. However, a huge myth is that marriage means approval and it does not my dear. Many CR-1 visas are denied as well. Our K1 was approved in Ghana in Jan 2013 and our "saving grace" was God and lots of evidence to support the petition. I truly believe it's as simple as what works best for you.

God bless you on this journey!

  3. Hi,

I'm not sure if one is better than the other to be honest. They can delay marriage for EXTREMEly long periods of time. Fraud is fraud NO matter if it's K1 or CR-1. It seems to me they actively look for it NO matter what process you select. I decided on K1 because I want my family to meet Edward prior to marriage. I have been to Ghana 6 times since we met back in April 2011 and my 10yr old joined my during one visit as well. However, my family has never met my fiance' and that's important to me.

It seems as if ALL K1 visas have been approved at the Accra Embassy thus far. If you check the departement of state website, there's a DETAILED list of EVERY document you must present to the officer at the time of the interview. Also, I was EXTREMEly proactive and I emailed the embassy in Ghana asking for specifics so that we can prepare. I was directed to the department of state website for documents required for the K1 interview. Not sure how ANYbody is denied when the information given BY the Accra Embassy is to follow the directives issued by the U.S. government on their website. I can answer your survey question in 48hrs. Our interview date is Thu 1/31.

    Good luck....whatever you decide.

  4. All,

My fiance's interview is Thu 1/31. After approval what is the average wait time for getting the visa issued at the Accra Embassy. I've heard it's within a week. Can anyone who has been recently approved in Ghana give me some info? :help:

    Thanks so much! :)

  5. Hello everyone.hows the waiting?are there updates about our K1 visa?

    who got their NOA2?

I am a March 20, filer and I got my NOA2 on Tue 9/18. I must admit I did call and email almost everyday since mid August. The USCIS website had a 5 month processing time for K1. I was determined to know why my petition had not been approved and why the information online had not been updated to reflect the actual processing delays @ the VSC. The K1 visa date was changed to Feb 27, on Sep 13, finally!!!! The last time I called and asked for a supervisor was on Mon 9/17 and I got my approval text on Tue afternoon 9/18. My heart goes out to all of you because I know matters of the heart are never easy and waiting is very hard indeed. God willing, it will happen soon my dear. :star:

One more thing, pay NO attention to SOME of these rude, miserable, UNhappy, "down right" mean folks who use this site. Knowledge is power and the purpose of this online community is to SHARE information and experiences throughout this process. If I can help you with anything more, please let me know.

  6. Welcome to government red tape :)

    lol!!!

Welcome to the waiting club. I'm March 8 and still waiting, so get behind me.

Glady my dear! I don't feel so bad now, you have my deepest sympathy. :-)

thats how it mostly is, they do the beginning and the end. the middle is done basically last  . good luck

    Wow!!!! That really sucks.......

    Very true

I guess not but WTH, this process is bull.......

  7. How is it possible that a petition received after mine was approved before me at the SAME service center???? I called the USCIS today and nobody could tell me why they are clearing Mar 23 and Mar 28 filers but not Mar 20 filers. I know some petitions are expedited but this is NOT the case. She said, "You are still within the normal processing time so there's nothing I can do. Perhaps you should write the service center. I don't know why they are processing out of date order." Occupy VSC!!! Who's with me???? :-)

  8. Ya, VSC needs to hire more people and pick up the pace. IR-1/CR-1 visas are starting to fall behind more, too.

Exactly!!! I don't understand. Why can't they forward some of their cases to CSC. I called last week and asked about the Aug 17th update and nobody could give me an honest answer. They are full of.......

  9. I agree..i decided to go to africa & wait with my baby. I admire all the VJ's who stood away from their loved one for so long but I just cant do it anymore. I found a Sponsor & So i hope they approve it...but if not, its ok. I will live with him there or here.

Oooo my dear, I understand your sorrow. (F) I am headed back to Ghana in 3 weeks to visit my sweetheart. I should be a Ghana resident. I've been there 6 times since April 2011. I know it's hard but all will be well. :(VSC is finally approving March so I hope to see something in a few weeks. I think 6 months is the new "norm" for them. All the best to you and the love of your life. #approvalsoonAmen

  10. :protest: What the "flip" is going on up there??? I have been waiting for almost 6 months now for my K1 approval. CSC is "light years" ahead of VSC and I'm pissed because they continue to post 5 months as the processing time on the USCIS website. Post a realistic date and stop the LIES!!!! NO RFE because I know I gave them more than enough documents for an approval. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! STOP holding my love hostage!!! :jest:
  11. I think whats funny is, people come on here asking for opinions and when they don't get the opinion they want they sulk, either that or they are attacked for asking what might seem to some as ridiculous questions, but they aren't ridiculous to the OP. I think we see a lot of judgmental comments on here, yes I am guilty of it too, from every section of society and we might not always like or agree with the comments posted, but rather than carry on with the childishness we should just walk away, something I have learned to do recently. I think its time we offer true support and empathy to others that come here for help and assistant.

Thank you!!! It's ok if some of my fellow journey members disagree. I knew this post would get mixed reactions, some less favorable than others but it's all good. This is how I feel and whether popular or not I stand by my statements. The world is filled with differences so "bring it on."

  12. Each individual is different, what you consider wrong or inappropriate others think is ok. It's about choices and freedom.

"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences".

    (Audre Lorde)

No ma'am, sometimes it's about maturity. Anger, disagreements and challenges we ALL face them. However, I would NEVER post on "VJ" the size of my man's ####### and our sexual details because I happen to be angry. So what's next, after marriage a youtube video. #IMMATURE

  13. Group Hug Everybody. Arms out wide and stretch...... Ahhhh isn't that better

Love the topic and the discussion.... I agree with everyone! I should run for President

Now I do agree with OP that one needs to censor items about their love life, fights etc. But with others and I know this first hand living and loving in the Philippines. One person's maturity level and airing their relationship issues may be alarming to others, but to the paritcular person and culture it may be acceptable. We need to keep in mind this Website is World Wide with many many many different cultures which is great. Contrary to what our great US Government believes, we cannot change everyone into the United State's thought and maturity or immaturity process. Once again, Group Hug time :)

I understand the culture differences. My fiance' is from Ghana but I think personal attacks and insults about what goes on in the bedroom is too much no matter what country you call home.

  14. Ms Ghanaian. I would suggest read the dirty laundry that's posted and keep it moving. IMO, people gonna post whatever they wanna post on here whether you think it's appropriate or not. That will be one less thing to be concerned about...:) Bless

I agree but just as they post such issues, I will do so as well. I am NOT trying to stop anyone from doing anything. I am simply stating my perception of such behavior and offering a different point of view. Be good!! :-)

  15. Agree!!!!

I understand your point but I disagree. Seeking support, advice and information within this community is far different than exposing a person's "short comings" and revealing intimate information via hurtful insults. That's NOT love! This site is GREAT for the information & support you receive and I will always applaud that idea.
