There was an article last week in the local newspaper about how they had just held a naturalization ceremony for 1500 (!) at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Article mentioned that there was a lot of interest this year due to the election. Cue a number of misinformed commentators to the article who thought folks getting naturalized were 1) primarily illegals and 2) decided to get naturalized on a whim. Those sorts of commentators usually are also of the "if you don't love it, leave it" type who don't realize the strain, cost, and time it takes to immigrate properly here or anywhere else.

We came home today from work cranky as could be but that turned to excitement when the boyfriend looked in the mailbox... and saw his interview appointment letter! Rather surprised this happened so quickly as I was under the impression that St Paul was backed up, but his application is extremely straightforward, so perhaps that has made a difference. Now it looks like he will be able to vote in November, and we can go ahead and book our long weekend to Seattle for the weekend after the interview - hopefully by then we will have his oath date too!
FYI - this was a bit of a surprise because I had been checking his status online and it hadn't changed.

Wow some of you are moving through quickly!
I guess there are fewer applicants at some district offices than others.
Trying to be patient here, did my biometrics 2 weeks early, status changed within a couple of days, but patiently having to wait to get the interview letter. From the looks of stats here in ATL that could take 2-3 months.

As another one waiting on an office that is backed up (St Paul) it is certainly hard watching others get interview letters and dates so quickly and yet still try and be patient. I just want this process up and done with already for my partner. Definitely feel your pain!

Quick question about the Early Biometrics-
Obviously we are filing through St Paul which has been rather slow recently (reading through the other filing threads). We live relatively close to the office, if my significant other went for his EB, does that speed up the process for him to get to interview?
Op, and another question, and I hate to contemplate this happening, but what if we have to move in the middle of this whole process that puts us into another jurisdiction?

Hello all,
I just found this forum after looking for more information on our field office here and information on timing, and I thought I would join. I am actually an American citizen (birth), but it is my partner who just mailed in the N400 today. He is from Sweden and won his Green Card in the lottery about 5 or 6 years or so, and now it is time to get this citizenship sorted out! He is very nonplussed about all this process, but we have a lot of other immigration issues to sort out this fall (his home passport needs to be renewed, I am attempting an inter-company transfer back overseas that impacts any visa issued) so having a better idea about the whole process and what is to be expected would make me a bit less anxious in planning everything else. Besides, it is exciting and my family wants to come to his ceremony!
We had an easy application - no marriage, no kids, not much to file. The St Paul field office looks to be backed up though, only processing applications from November 2011
I will copy down the list and add his details shortly. Look forward to hearing everyone's stories!

Updating to add Oath date for next Tuesday!
The boyfriend went to his interview today and said it went really smoothly. He had to wait a good hour before he was called in, but once he was the guy flipped through his information really quickly and just checked off a bunch of boxes, asked him "when do we celebrate Columbus Day?" and then write the answer ("we celebrate it in October). He was then asked interview questions like "how long does a senator serve for?", "What did the Bill of Rights do?". and a few other questions he can't remember right now. The interviewer then stamped the sheet and said that they had an oath ceremony next Tuesday. My boyfriend asked when the next one was after that, catching the interviewer off guard a bit since he didn't know when the next one was in October. At any rate, boyfriend took the Tuesday morning appointment for next week. Good thing it is on Tuesday because we are going on a short vacation out of town leaving on Wednesday!
Surprisingly none of his documentation was checked - his Swedish passport, drivers license, selective service card or anything like that.
I am really surprised at how fast St Paul moved as I had heard stories of how long it could take and seen prior timelines on here. I don't know if it matters that he had about as "clean" of an immigration record you could have - no name change, no marriage, no children, no adjustments of status, no initial GC application based on relationship/work/other reason, etc. That boy has some sort of luck when it comes to US immigration that is hard to believe!
