  1. We went through the K-1 route because when my hubby (then fiancé) went to the Manila Embassy, they told him that was the fastest way. Our I-129F was approved in just a little over a month and then I had my K-1 interview in Manila after 4 months (we were getting all the documents ready and he was getting settled at his new duty station - bought a house, furniture, etc., got everything ready for my move). I honestly don't know if it had anything to do with him being in the military or if it was just the standard processing time then (February 2009) but it did seem like the process went pretty fast.

It really depends on your situation. We were thinking of getting married in the Philippines but he was deployed to Iraq then and was only on leave for less than 2 weeks so we didn't have enough time to plan everything AND get all of the required paperwork together. With the K-1, we were able to gather everything we needed for the packet and he filed the I-129F as soon as he got back to the U.S. And then once I entered the U.S., the 90 days was more than enough time to plan our wedding.

Oh my....so you did take the fiance visa option?....coz all our documents are ready...its just that he is currently stationed in korea, and he is still under the international marriage law...and his sergeant told him that we should get married before he goes colorado , so he could include me in his file when he goes there. But then id greatly appreciate , knowing our status now...if whats the best you could advice.

    Thanks much.
