How did you find out you were in AP?
I emailed the embassy as it had been more than 5 working days since our interview and I hadn't heard anything about our passports. They informed me that we were in AP
-
I hope it's not a month. We have our wedding booked for March 30. I wanted to get home to help organize everything and my kids need to be in school
-
No they haven't said why. I'm not sure if I should email them back to ask for a specific reason?
-
My parents are British
-
I'm Australian born in the United Kingdom but have lived since I was 3

I've just found out we've been put into AP by the embassy in Sydney. I'm hoping it only lasts a few days. Has anyone else had this happen in Sydney and if so, how long did it last?
Thanks guys. I'm feeling a bit shattered
-
Awesome, thanks so much. So you did your police check online too?
Yep I did it online. Can't remember if I had to print the form out, I don't think I did (I did mine in August) From memory I only had to print out the receipt and take that with me to the police station. The certificate arrived at my home about 2-3 weeks later. Good luck!!

OK, I am still struggling. I cannot find where to download it from the website. Is it form 800 that we need?
Sorry to be such a bother.
Thanks heaps!
If you're in NSW this is the site you need and you fill the form in online. I did mine last year and got my visa approved last week.

Thanks for the info Toby. I'm hoping they turn up Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Tracking through us traveldocs says 'origination scan' whatever that means lol.
Have a safe flight on Tuesday. We'll be flying out of Melbourne later in the week
-
We had our interview last Tuesday (29/1) and were approved. As yet I haven't heard whether the visas have been printed and mailed. I've tried the tracking number with Australia post but it says no events. I'm unsure how reliable the tracking actually is.
Did anyone else interview last Tuesday and get approved, and have you heard anything yet?
This last bit of waiting is almost the worst lol

Congrats Edenjames!! Glad you persevered for an earlier date.
Thanks sweetdelish!! Now just waiting for our passports lol. The last bit of waiting yeeeaaaa!!!

what is packet 3 and what is packet 4?
Packet 3 is an email from the embassy instructing you on what documents etc you are required to send in before an interview date can be allocated. Packet 4 is another email with your interview date and instructions on what to bring to interview.
-
I sent packet 3 December 12 and received packet 4 January 15
-
It took a month for me to receive packet 4, but it was over Christmas so that probably made a difference. Our interview was originally scheduled for March 5, but I emailed a request for an earlier date and got February 19. Then I emailed again asking to go on a wait list for a cancellation. I had my interview this morning and was approved. My girls and I will be flying to California next week a full month earlier than our original interview date. It is worth asking to go on the wait list!!! Good luck

I was thinking I might have to just get them in case. Do you know if I just go to the Australian embassy to apply for one or is there another site? I was reading something about fingerprints too?
So much paperwork...
For me I'm not sure whether they just decided 11 months was close enough, but if I was you and had time I'd email the London embassy for clarification. If you do need an Aussie police check here's where you go http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx#forms
Good luck!!

Just read through all the replies and thanks for doing that but still confused as one person has said any country over 6 months but then looked at another link that was offered and it says 12 months?
This was from the US Embassy in London website:
Police Certificates: Required for all countries where you have lived for more than 12 months since the age of 16. Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S. Please follow this link for further information.
Police Certificates for the United Kingdom: A visa applicant who has resided in the United Kingdom for 6 months or more since the age of 16, is required to obtain a police certificate from the ACPO Criminal Records Office (ACRO). Please follow this link for further information.
I wasn't in either country for longer than 12 months before returning to the U.K.
I'm really hoping that it's 12 months as that saves me a lot of hassle getting the New Zeland and Australia reports - especially as I know I didn't get in to any trouble in either country!!
Thanks again x
The Sydney embassy says the same about 12 months, however I was requested to present a UK police clearance to take to interview after living in the UK for only 11 months. I wish I'd just ordered it months ago to 'cover my butt', it would have saved me stress and money as I now had to pay for an priority service to ensure it gets here in time.

I'm going to ask a friend and see if she can shed some light on this! I'll keep you guys posted if you haven't found out before me
Thanks kitkat1985!!!!

It was March 5th, but they changed it the other night to January 15th.
any word on your packet yet?
No still no word. It's driving me a little crazy!!!! This was supposed to be the fastest part of the process lol. Maybe tomorrow............
Did you request a reschedule or did they just change it and let you know?
-
Thank you edenjames!
All the best!
Glad I could help. When is your interview?
-
I was just told by the guy at my local Australia Post that I need to bring in a barcoded receipt to pay for my K1 visa. Can anyone tell me they have done otherwise?
The reason I ask is that currently the ustraveldocs site is only providing work visas as an option..... so I'm kinda stuck.
Any help greatly appreciated
Hi, I just had look at the us travel docs site that I have saved and it doesn't stipulate which visa types you can pay it just lets you choose the amount. I hopefully will be paying mine soon (still waiting on packet 4, 4 weeks after sending in docs) so I checked when I read your post. Have a look here
http://www.ustraveldocs.com/au/au-niv-visapay.asp?amount=240#creditcard
Hope it works

We are doing a full on ceremony and reception, cant believe its less than 3 months away. Its so crazy how quickly its getting here!
I know it's 81 days for us and counting!!!
I really thought I'd have a pretty good idea of when we'd be getting there by now. This part of the process is supposed to be the quickest!!! Day by day I'm becoming increasingly more frustrated and restless
-
Sydney needs to get it together! Our wedding is planned for April 5!
Amen to Sydney getting it together. Your weddings a week after ours yeeaaa. Hope we both get to the US with some time to spare beforehand lol. Are you doing a ceremony and reception or just courthouse?
-
It's driving me nuts. Our wedding is March 30 which we figured at 4 months post NOA2 would be fine. Now I'm potentially looking at getting there just before and relying on my fiancé and his family to do everything for me aarrgghh!!!!
I'm also not sure what to do with my girls regarding schooling if we're still here for February and into March. At this stage I'm considering home schooling them with work from their new US school if we can organize that with their teachers there. Luckily my fiancé is PTA president and well known at the school!!
An interview in March, 3 months after sending in packet 3 is just ridiculous!!!
INTERVIEW CANCELED?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

My interview and both my daughters were cancelled too, all scheduled for September 23 in Sacramento. At this stage I'll wait for more contact from USCIS, but if none arrives in the next 3 weeks I'll call to double check the cancellation. We're still waiting for approval of our EAD and travel docs which I'm hoping comes soon as I have been offered a job but can't start until I get it.
