  1. Is there any way I can take a job abroad (Canada) whilst we're going thru AOS? We are scheduled to file her AOS paperwork in Aug, I recently got laid off and been looking everywhere for a job opportunity and there might be a few in Vancouver BC but I wasn't sure I could pursue these whilst she is a greencard/AOS so she probably wouldn't be able to travel/live in another country whilst?

  2. Thanks for the replys, yep I wanted her to maintain her perm residency. If like your also saying it would take more t han 2 months then that might be beyond my time to wait as I needed a job a bit quicker. But I'll see what they say. Thanks again

  3. Im currently living and working in Seattle, WA. My wife just moved here from Asia and recently got a green card. Unfortunatly I just lost my job here & have a limited time left in which to act until money runs out. I've been applying to various local companies in my area of expertise, either they're not hiring or not interested. Have gotten a few "bites" from other companys in Cali & Illinois but the most interested one was in London, Ontario.

If I dont get any other offers from within the U.s. very very soon I will be forced to take this and relocate..now the question is what happens to my wife's Green Card status, and what must I do in terms of paper work if we really have to move there on short notice? Im talking within 2 months max?

I have no idea yet, should I get the job there in Ontario, if the company will offer any help in terms of visa's ect. but its a real bind & time/money is running out!

    Any advice/help is appreciated!

  4. Hi & thanks very much for the reply!

She's not using my surname yet but she wants to. So does she just start using it from on or is there something we need to do to make it happen? She does'nt have any driver license/SSS or anything here so it should'nt be a hassle?

Thats good I dont have to print out another round of bank statements that was a hassle (what is'nt!) but I have all my tax forms from before.

She was going to visit some friends in Cali, and someone told us she needs a State I.D. in order to fly or leave the state, do you know anything about that my any chance? Thanks alot for your help!

    Perry

    Congratulations on your marriage.

As far as bank statements, I did not turn in new bank statements with our AOS paper work although I did turn in 3 years of tax information for 03,04,05.

Is your wife using your surname legally?

I know I was the one needing to change my name and being the US Citizen would have had to change passport, driver's license, and social security card, so being such a hassle I just kept my maiden name.

I think there is a space on the form asking for maiden name/surname...

My husband got his SSN card the first thing he came into the country taking his passport and the K-1 along.

They gave him a temporary one saying not valid without DHS authorization.

Therefore it wasn't proof he could work. Now that he has his green card he will need to get a new card.

He also got his driver's liscense in AZ using his passport and K-1 Visa.

    Hope this helps,

    Moondancer

  5. We just got married (yesterday) and want to begin our AOS forms..the question I had was some of the forms/things they want are repeats of what we submitted for the Fiance Visa. Like my Affadvait of support & evidence..do I need to make NEW copys of my recent bank statements again, or can I use those submitted for the K1?

Another question now that we're married..should she use my surname from now on all forms or still use the surname she applied in?

I was going to try & get her a SSS card can this be done now or not until after her AOS interview. (what about state ID too? Now or after?)

I did a search on these and could'nt find any info so any input is appreciated!:)

  6. Hey! Thanks for the reply, well we're about to book thru a travel agency there for my ticket and hers, it'll save a considerable amount on booking thru the airline directly so Im very happy about it. Thanks and take care!

    Thanks for the reply!

Did your hubby go over to pick you up or did you fly alone? I was planning to go over there and return with her. I hav'nt figured out the best way to get the tickets for both of us..I was just gonna do it thru an airline here although it'll be costly. But not sure of another way to do it.

Thats cool the Visa arrived so quickly then, she lives in Makati so it should'nt be a problem!

  7. *OOPS..this was meant for the MANILA forum..sorry

I've read in some cases they want to see ORIGINAL divorce/Annulment documents at this seminar, does anyone have experiences of this? The divorce documents would be mine, but my Fiance does have a complete certified copy of all the court documents. Would this suffice?

She's taking the Seminar about a month before her actually interview on May 30th.

    Thanks for any help!

( Packet 3 is included in your Packet 4 with appointment letter schedule for visa interview and Schedule for medical examination i received that for once)

I was interviewed for my K-1 visa last Sept. 2 Friday then they gave me pink receipt for the mailing address to receive my passport with flying visa  ! I wrote there our address in Quezon city and i received my passport with Visa last Sept. 7,05 Tuesday bec. sept. 06 it's holiday. tip: If you have mailing address in manila write it down in your pink receipt bec. it takes a week to receive if your mailing address is in province.

Tip in getting Plane tickets: Tell the airline company if you buy ticket from phils. that your you've fiance visa and first time trip to usa they might have a special promo or discounts like what i did before i asked them they will honestly tell you if hey have.I think i saved 120 dollars!

  9. phew..ok thanks:)

For Manila, there is no Packet 3 anymore. Packet 4 is now referred to as the "Appointment Package".

    2. Although the IV packet system has served well for over forty years with relatively few changes, the ease with which information can now be maintained and shared electronically makes the linear, rationed approach to immigrant visa information less useful. The numbered packets, many of which are no longer used by consular sections and rarely seen by applicants, were also the source of some confusion. The numbered packet system has therefore been eliminated. Packets 1, 2, 2a and 3a no longer exist. Standardized information sheets should be used to respond to queries as discussed below. The old Packet 3 has now been renamed the "Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants." Packet 4 is referred to as the "Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants." Packet 4a, important as the mailing that initiates the termination process, is now referred to as the "Follow-Up Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants."

  10. My fiance just recieved her packet from the Embassy in Manila, I thought its supposed to be packet "3" but instead it says "Enclosure packet 4" it has the Appointment letter, DS156, DS 156k, DS157, MedEx Instruction, Photo specs, VAC.

She never recieved a packet 3, is she missing something or is this IT!

Also I read somewhere that a checklist needs to be signed and returned to the embassy, although I don’t think she received a checklist. Is there anything else she should send back to them before the interview (may 30)

My other question for those that have recieved the visa after the manila interview, whats the normal time to recieve it? I need to start planning plane tickets in advanced and of course was gonna leave a week or so safety margin as to when I was going to get her and travel back. Just curious what the normal delivery time for it is!

I attached an edited appointment letter for further info.

    Thanks for any help!

  11. Hi Mike, thanks very much for the reply. Yes we do see our case number listed there so I was wondering if we should be excited or not. Thanks again and good luck yourself!

    Hello Wildone

That is the schedule for interviews at manila embassy

you can also call the dept of state to confirm,

1-202-663-1225 prompt 1 then 0 to talk to a visa specialist

I notice you have an noa2 approval date in jan 06

you could very well see your case number on this list

as my noa2 approval was also jan 06

Good luck and wish you the best

  12. Yea its still the same date for ours, May 30th so..it means her interview would be on that date? We're still waiting for Packet 3 tho

ahuh, but what does it mean...our case number matches the MAy 30th date, does that mean her interview could take place at that time?

    congratz

just thought i'ld mention the new appt list came out today lol they may need some practice postin the list 242 pages and its all messed up

    http://usembassy.state.gov/manila/wwwfvisa.pdf

they fixed it last night ,but it was all messed last night

when they put up the list they had the dates and the appt no#'s on different pages basically 242 pages instead of the 121 it reads now with the dates matched up to the appt no#'s

  13. Yea Im surprised theres not more discussion on this, its got me very worried too..

yes I did, and I am just as worried, because aparently it has escalated a bit more overnight. I just hope no martial law gets placed. With how scardy cat USA is acting these days, it will only take just a little more before Phils is closed.
