  1. My wife and I recently filed an I-130 and I-485 concurrently, and just a few days ago received a RFE related to the I-864 that was part of the I-485 package. The request is for a complete tax return for the year 2011. Now, I attached a complete copy of our joint 2011 tax return (as prepared online with H&R Block) and transcripts for 2010 and 2009. It occurs to me that I forgot to send W-2s and 1099s for 2011. I did not use a transcript for 2011 because I was not aware at the time we were preparing things that a transcript is actually preferred to a copy of the return. I wish I had known that, as it would have made all this easier.

As I'm fairly certain that all they're wanting is the W-2 and 1099 for 2011, should I just send that to supplement the complete 1040 (plus other schedules) that they already have, or should I just get a transcript for 2011? Is there any reason that a transcript would be inferior to copies of these forms at this point, or is it ALWAYS preferable to send a transcript for tax returns?

  2. Thank you.

I have just one other small question also regarding form g-325a.

I'm a US citizen, my wife is not and we're concurrently filing the i-130 form with the adjustment of status package.

As I understand, we each need to fill form g-325a.

Towards the end of the form it asks:

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:

    - Naturalization

    - Status as Permanent Resident

    - Other

Then it asks for signature of applicant

    Then it says:

Applicant: Print your name and Alien Registration Number in the box outlined by heavy border below.

So my questions are as follows:

    1. My wife doesn't currently have an Alien Registration Number. So does she just leave that blank?

    2. What should I write for my form? I am submitting it in connection with an application for Status as Permanent Resident, but I'm not the applicant, my wife is. And surely, I don't have an Alien Registration Number.

What is the correct way to fill this part out?

    Thanks!

I have literally exactly the same questions.

  3. It shouldn't be an issue on the US side. Traveling back to Iran might bring troubles, depending on your situation. There are some Iranian members you can ask about that. Good luck.

How do you mean? Troubles entering Iran as a US resident, or troubles entering the US after visiting Iran? As it stands, her visa was single entry anyway (all the Iranian F1's are) so yeah, there's trouble already with that. She basically can't leave the country, or else she's locked out.

  4. Howdy,

This is my first post here, though I've spent quite some time perusing the useful guides and getting our paperwork together. I'm a US citizen, and my wife is an Iranian citizen in the US on an F1 (student) visa. We married about a year ago, over a year after she arrived in the country. We are now preparing to do a concurrent filing of an I-130 and I-485 to start her AOS. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if there was any sort of special rigamarole or technicality that was going to get in the way because she's Iranian, and if anyone has any tips for getting through them as quick as possible.

    Thanks.
