  1. It has been suggested, and I don't know if this is true or not, by applying for the N-400, someone at the USCIS wakes up and processes your I-751. If you do apply for the N-400, have to send a copy of your expired conditional green card, your expired one year extension, AND, a copy of your current valid foreign passport with a current I-551 stamp in it.

Did hear about cases where USC was obtained where the applicant never saw their ten year card, we got ours just days before my wife's interview and practically had to give it right back. Ha, my wife didn't want to surrender it with all the problems we had obtaining it, but she did, and got use to not having to carry it in just a few seconds.

HEY, I CAN NOW GO TO THE BATHROOM WITHOUT MY GREEN CARD!!!!! And exactly where to you put a green card when wearing a bikini?

I am not sure about that process. They did not ask me about sending expired GC and stuff when I filed the N-400.I am gonna just go there and get the I-551 stamp after the fingerprinting is over next week.

Yes.I know many cases where people never cared for GC and got USC directly. I don't think there is any use in GC if someone applied for USC and they are approved. They should be able to check on the system and see everything.

I just want to be done with the USCIS and move on.Thanks for your help.

  2. Unfortunately, it's your responsibility to keep yourself legal and until that ten year green card is in your hand, you have to keep your I-551 stamp current in your current valid foreign passport. Hopefully the person that stamped your passport has some insight or inside knowledge that you will receive your ten year card before the 20th of March, if not, it's another trip to your local field office, and at least two weeks in advance of March 20th.

    Thanks for your reply.

To be safe I would schedule an appointment to the local after the fingerprinting and get the stamp again. When I got that stamp last year they said it was sent but got lost in the mail. Also I had to travel abroad so they stamped it. Now I need to keep myself legal. So I will stop by after the FP appointment and get another stamp.

    Thanks again.

  3. Hi All

I filed my N-400 application last month and my Finger Printing is scheduled for Feb 3rd.

When my AOS was approved my 10-yr GC got lost in the mail.So I went to the local office and got a temporary stamp on passport which is valid till March 30st, 2010. This stamp allowed to travel abroad and work here in the mean time. I am afraid that my employer will ask for proof of work authorization since it is expiring on March 20th.

Somewhere here I read that when we received the notice of receipt for N-400 that automatically extends one's residency validity here for one year. Is that true? I could not find any wording on the receipt for N-400.

My FP appointment is in Feb and I am not sure when my naturalization will be completed.I live in Ohio. My old GC expired last year. Should I go ahead and schedule an appointment to get another stamp in my passport?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Guys

Both my senator and congressman's office failed to help me with my problem. They asked me to file the I-90 form.

I am eligible to apply for N-400 on Dec 15th. My temporary stamp on passport is valid till March 30st, 2010.So I am thinking of applying for N-400 in December with my expired GC and the vlaid passport stamp.I think this should be ok. I can use the N-400 receipt for proof my status to employer by going to the local office and getting another stamp if needed.

Meanwhile I am going to contact the Ombudsman Office of USCIS and explain them the problem.Since we did not get an email, no welcome letter, no GC I think they will be able to help us. What do you guys think?

Its crazy that even the politicians cannot understand our questions such as why they would by normal mail and don't even bother to help us.

  5. Guys

I am eligible to apply for citizenship on Dec 15th. Here is my problem. USCIS told me that they mailed my 10-year GC in Feb approval. But I never received it. Now they want me to file I-90 and pay the $370 fees. I don't want to pay the fees.

Currently I have 1 year stamp on passport that expires in March next year and have my conditions removed approval documents.

Since my passport stamp is valid till March and I have my 10-year approval documents, can I just file for my N-400 on Dec 15th and just ignore getting the 10-year GC?. I want to make sure that this is possible. Will there be any problems with this idea?.

    Thanks in advance.

I agree with your frustration. It is the worst department in the U.S. government.

These guys are illiterate morons who somehow got the job because they knew someone or other means. Shows you how they got the priority straight when they have people like this dealing with foreigners in this country.

Probably need to replace all of them with folks who can do hard work and understand basic English and have some common sense. It is just pathetic.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

  7. Guys

I did not receive my 10 year GC and when they are telling me that it may gotten lost in the mail and I need to file an I-90 form with the fees.

While looking into this mess, I found the following:

Receipt Number on I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence: WAC-XXXXXX131

Receipt Number on ASC Appointment Notice for Biometrics Test: WACXXXXX202

Receipt Number on Letter Received on 6/30/2009: WACXXXXX202

The File Number on Approval for Removal Conditions on Residence was: XXX-XXX-XXX

I am not sure why my Receipt Number changed from the original WAC-XXXXXX131 to WACXXXXX202. Is this correct? Can the WAC receipt number change for a case?. I am wondering if this is the cause of confusion. Wondering if they screwed up the number and sent the card to someone else.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Forever In Love

I did not change my address online anytime. I am still at the same address here and never moved.

Sorry to hear that you are having the same problems with these idiots. It is amazing how they have no clue how to fix anything. It seems that one way or another they want to get more money form us. Like you say below I am not going to pay anything for their fault.

I am contacting the congressman and ask for their help in sorting out this mess. Sometimes I wonder why I have to go thru all this non-sense when all illegals don't have to file any forms or pay for anything.

In your case you have strong proof that it was their mistake. In my case they never sent 3 letters and the card.Highly unlikely all 3 would have got lost in the mail.Clearly they are lieing and I have to fight it.So much of my time is gettign wasted because of these brainless morons feeding of taxpayers money.

Let me know how your appointment goes.

  9. milimelo and others

The local office was not of any help on Friday. In fact the guy at counter was rude. He showed a printout from computer saying that the card was mailed. Thats it. He said that I may have received it and lost it. Now I am asking for another card. What a moron. Typical half-educated illiterate idiot working in the government.

When I told that why I would I ask for a new card when I did not receive it and I still have my old card, he could not answer anything. basically he said I have no option but to file for an I-90. Said I can send it with no fees and see if they process. When I questioned why would they said an important card like this by regular mail and not by certified mail - he said that will cost the government more money and already we are in deep debt. What a pathetic loser. After saying this BS he walked away.

So now I am gonna contact my local congress man and senator tomorrow and ask for their help. It is almost like the guys we have to trust the government as if they are God but they won't trust us. Why would any new immigrant to this country be treated like a criminal?. As if someone would get the card and give it to someone else and ask for another one.

Anyway thanks for your feedback on my issue. Let me post an update after contacting the congressman.

    Cheers !

  10. milimelo

Thanks a lot for forwarding me that letter.I received it today.

Yes tomorrow I am going for my Infopass appt. I will post an update here tomorrow evening.Let me see what they say at the local office. Weird thing is I never received Welcome America letter or Card Production email.Online status still

says approval letter sent. So something is wrong here.

If they can't help me then I will contact the Congressman and senator. For a moment I thought maybe I can file for citizenship directly next March since I have my temp stamp on my passport till that time.Problem is for that N-400 form they need a valid GC copy. So not sure if I can use a copy of my expired GC and then use that temp stamp to mail citizenship application.

Let me post here tomorrow. Thanks again.

  11. Thanks TayRivers ,milimelo and jasminelily for your detailed replies.

    milimelo

I think I may have to do the same ting you did.Can you please email me that letter? My email:

    hunkar@topforeignstocks.com

I agree that we shouldn't have to pay again.Amazing how they sent me that letter asking to I-90 but never mention anything about having to pay fees. Also I used to a permanent resident in Canada. There they asked me to attach a prepaid certified express envelope with the application and I received my card without any problems.

    jasminelily

Yes.Its like a credit card. They can produce it cheaply. They are simply trying to grab as much as they can.Pathetic indeed. What a way to treat a foreigner as they try to settle down here!. Like I pointed above the guys at the agency are not educated enough to see how to improve the system like comparing to countries or asking for feedback from us.All the guys is sit all day long and issue all kinds of memos changing this and that. Typical paper-pushers.

You make a good point. They have the gall to simply type a letter telling that mailed it without providing any proof. You would think that they could beg with the USPS and get a cheap deal to send it certified and that way they can provide us proof that they mailed it. Instead they think we are fools. I see absolutely no difference between the crooks on Wall St and these guys. It is almost like they are God and everyone including the courts and us have to believe whatever they say.

I have a meeting at the local office this Friday. I am gonna ask them what should I do.File without paying fees or contact the congress man and senator.

I will report back here on Friday evening.

    Thanks again to all.

  12. Hi Sweetdreams

    Thanks for your reply.

I am glad that you were sort out the issue.

In my case I think they never sent it since I did not move anywhere and all other mails get delivered fine. Also I did not get the Card Production Ordered emails or Welcome to America letter. I have scheduled an appointment with the local office this Friday to ask them about my case. Seems like they should be able to help me.But i am not going to pay for their problems.

If the local won't reply me properly maybe thats what I will do too. Just file I-90b and ask them to send it. It almost seems like they deliberately send it by cheap mail so that they can get more money. When they collect so much fees for every single thing they should at least have the brain and decency to send it safely by certified email. Shows you how much they really care.

I will report back here after my Friday appointment.

    Thanks again.

I've been in your situation before, I got approved on Oct. 08, 2008 and they started to sent it on Oct. 14, 2008 to the other state where we've never been in our whole life. I never stopped calling 1-800-xxx-xxxx but they can't helped, everytime that I call them I gave them my address and they repeated it to me and they always promised me that they will send it to the right address that I gave. But still they continue sending it to the wrong states for seven times. I google the address of the post office which is close to the states where they sent the greencard and I called the postman and I confirmed from him that he saw that mail and since there were no order where he will turn over it, he returned it to the the post office and he promised me that the next time he will encounter it he will send it to me. But still I make another moved I wrote to the local office where I got approved and we also filed I-90 My authorized card was never received , means you dont have to pay the amount $370 because it wasn't your fault but they wrote me back that they can't process my request because I have to pay that amount. I never replied, I just waited again for another week and finally on Feb. 23, 2009 I received my greencard.
  13. Guys

My case was approved back on February 24th.My card never arrived in the mail. Online status never showed "Cad Production ordered. Or Card mailed". It still says:

    "Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On February 24, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this CRI89

PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED. Please follow

any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call

    customer service."

When I called them two weeks ago, they looked into the issue and I got a letter telling me that they mailed it on Feb 24th and since i did not get it and post office did not return it back to them it got lost. So they have asked me to file a I-90 form.

Problem is there is some $370 fees for that. Why would they ask me to pay this fees when it was lost in the mail?.

Does anyone have this problem?. I do not want to pay this amount for their mistake or post office's mistake. I think they never sent me the card since online never got it updated. Now they are just telling some story expecting to take more $ from me.

When I got a temporary stamp on my passport a few months ago, the guy at the local office never told me that It was mailed and did not ask why I did not get it.

How do I solve this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

    -GenghizKhan

  14. Thanks for your quick reply.

    Lard-N-Yenia

I am going to make an appointment to get this issue solved.

    John24689

It is my GC that expired. My NOA that which extends your NOA for one year is still valid. I am going to the local office and discuss this.

    Kathryn41

My original card is the one that expired. NOA is still valid. Glad to know that I can travel without any problems.

But since I will be traveling with my family I want to make sure that I don't run into any problems. So I will make an appointment with the local office and discuss with them.

It is really weird that they seem to problems producing and issuing a GC card. Despite all the high they collect, they seem to be "inefficient" in certain things. :)

I will update my timeline this weekend.

  15. Guys

My case was approved in February of this year and I received the approval letter telling that I will get my card with 60 days. I haven't gotten it so far. Can you tell me if this is a problem?

Another question - I am going out of country next month for 2 weeks. If I don't get the card by then how do I get back in? My current GC expired on 3/15/09.

This is really crazy that they still haven't mailed me the card.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers!

  17. Hi guys

I had my interview in Oct 2006 and was told my case is done and only FBi chekc is pending.

Until now I haven't heard anything.

Last Month I was again told that FBI thing is the only one pending (Thu Infopass appt.)

Why are these FBI clowns taking so long to complete this process?. They seem to have absolutely no clue in whatever they do.Or they are totally incompetent fools living off tax payers money and doing nothing.

Does anybody know what happens when one's EAD time runs out and FBI check is not complete?.

    Thanks

    -GenghizKhan

  18. Guys

Yesterday I went to the local office in Columbus,OH for my interim EAD. I had filed my EAD back in Dec-2005.

After checking the system the lady told that my EAD was approved Feb 1st. But it was not mailed to me bcaz I did not do the biometrics. I said well thats right bcaz they did not send a biometrics letter. She then asked me to do the biometrics right then by filling a form. She told she cannot issue me an interim EAD since my case was approved already.

Then I did my biometrics and I was told that my EAD shoudl in the mail within 2 weeks. But from reading experiences I think I will get in the next few days. This is weird that my EAD was approved and I was not informed by email or the many times I called them by phone. Just this week they said that my case is still pending and not approved when I called.Shows how messed up their system is. I wasted almost a month not working.

My advice to anyone in a similar situation: Don't trust the online status thing nor the customer service reps. on phone. Just wait for 90 days and on 91st day go to the local office and check whats happening with your case.

    Cheers !

  19. internetkafe

Glad to hear that they are processing most of Dec appns.

I do have have NOA1 copy and I misplaced my actual appn. I filed.

I have my post office receipt, delivery confirmation and a print

of the online status.I can explain to them and they must be able to check things

    on system.

I am gonna make an appointment for next week just inc ase I don't get it in the mail soon.

    Thanks.

    -GenghizKhan

    Internetkafe

Did they update your online status when they approved it?.

THey haven't touched mine since Feb 1st.

I think they have approved all EAD applications with receipt date of December already. They do not send biometrics appointment letters for some reason. But you should receive it by the end of this month. I received mine yesterday. As for interim EAD...I think they will accept a photocopy of your NOA1.

Good luck with this type of bureaucracy (allow .... days for this type of case to be processed nonsense)
