  1. Hi Y'all,

My Fiancee got into the US on 06/12/13 and we were married on 06/24/13. My question is her Arrival stamp says "K1 till 09/10/13", but now we have gotten married and have even got her a social security card, and I'm currently working on sending in the I-485 adjustment of status form and will hopefully send it in by next Friday. So do I need to do anything else or notify some agency that we are now married so that her visa does not lapse, or will submitting the I-485 and the application for a Social Security Card suffice? I hope y'all can understand my question. I'm looking forward to your helpful replies. Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi Y'all,

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I was just helping my fiancee's family fill out their visit visa application so that they can attend our wedding and had a quick question. Do I need to fill out a different form for each individual in the family or can I just put in all their information in one form. I'm filling out their form online, and there's a section in there where they ask about the info for the family who's travelling with you, and I've entered their info there, should that be enough or do I need to do a separate form for each member. Thanks in advance for all your help.

  3. I went with my fiancee for her visa interview to Islamabad on the 18th of January. At the interview, we were handed a Blue Refusal Sheet and told that I needed to head back to the US and provide proof of Domicile. We were so heartbroken that our visa wasn't issued that day. I headed back to the US on the 31st of January and started collecting all the documents and paperwork that I thought would be pertinent in proving that I had re-established domicile in the US. I sent those documents to my fiancee on 19th February, she received it on 22nd February and then she forwarded it to the US Embassy using the American Express Courier service in Karachi on the 23rd of February. I checked the ceac.state.gov site yesterday and was greeted with the following message " ISSUED. Your visa has been printed. Depending on local procedures at the location where you interviewed, your visa will be mailed or available for pickup soon. If there are further questions, or if we need updated contact information, you will be contacted." I am glad that they looked at our info so quickly and issued us the visa. So to all those out there with AP status who are waiting, keep your chin up and I am sure that your number will be up next. Also, thanks to all the people on VJ who helped me out tremendously throughout this long and arduous journey. Lastly, best of luck to those who are just starting on this Immigration Journey, Do not hesitate to hit me up to ask me any questions in regards to the K-1 Visa processes, especially if you're filing for someone in Pakistan, and I'm sure I'll be able to guide you down the right path. Best of Luck Everyone, May we be with our Love One's Soon.

  4. To all the fellow Pakistani VJ'ers out there who have visa interviews this week at the Islamabad Embassy, what is your reaction to this long march. Specially since interviews scheduled for today and tomorrow have been cancelled. My Fiancee's interview is scheduled for this Friday and I really really wish that this march gets over before then. Please pray for us and the other VJ'ers in the same boat. Thanks You All and Good Luck on this arduous and trying journey to be with your loved one...

  5. Good luck on your interview !!!! Hope all goes smoothly !!

I believe that the instructions from the consulate should clearly state which forms you need to fill out in terms of financial support. Was it not stated anywhere on the papers you got from the consulate ?

They should have all the papers you sent in initially with your petition however, personally, I would still take a copy of that package just in case....

    Again good luck !!

When they emailed me Packet 3.5 in regards to all the documentation and reports and stuff I had to send in, it stated this towards the end:

    3-Affidavit of Support (I-134) Optional

Petitioner/sponsor may submit the Affidavit of Support as it is optional.

I'm going to take a copy of this document with us to the interview and hopefully they won't hassle us. Also I don't know why they say it is optional when they do ask most people for it at the interview.

  6. Dear Fellow VJ'ers,

My Fiancee finally has her interview. It is scheduled for Friday, the 18th of January. I'll be also accompanying her. Just wanted to ask a couple of questions and see if anyone can help. Firstly, I am using my parents as my co-sponsors, and they both filled out Form I134 for the Affidavit of Support, but I'm seeing some posts where people are saying that co-sponsors need to fill out Form I864. Which one is the correct one? Also, will they have the evidence that I submitted with my original petition (such as our FB chat transcripts) or do I need to print out the transcripts again? I'm already taking our engagement photo albums, event DVD's, and my tickets from my visits to my fiancee, along with 25 or so pictures from my current stay here. I would really appreciate all your help and prayers in this regard. Hopefully I'm posting a topic with the Title "APPROVED" this upcoming Friday. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and best of luck to all the fellow VJers on their journey :)

  7. Hey guys...sorry for updating after 2 days but haven't got net access.

But the good news is that I got the VISA at first go without been put in AP.

    Here is the whole experience.

Got to embassy at 7:30 AM and after submitting the bag (you can't take any sort of bag with you as only plastic bags are allowed)

and the mobile phones (all electronic gadgets), took the ticket for shuttle service and got all ready for a ride to embassy.

At embassy known thing is about two lines one for immigrant visa and other for non-immigrant visa, went in immigrant one called upon

quickly as it wasn't too busy that day.

Fingerprints taken first then went to submit the interview letter, medical and passport to window#06.

From there I got a list of approved courier services in all cities of Pakistan with a Token stamped on it.

Waited...waited and just waited...but to my surprise it wasn't too bad, called after 2 hours on window#08.

And here the real game has started. White lady greeted with a smile.

    Followed her with the Oath.

    Questions:

    1. Can you please hand me over the Original Urdu NikahNama.

    2. How long have you been married.

    3. How you two get to know each other and what was the connection led to the marriage.

    3. How long you two stayed together after the ceremony.

    4. Have she came down for a visit afterwards.

    5. How exactly she acquired the citizenship.

    6. How often you two talk.

    7. Can you show me the pictures of the ceremony.

The only two things the Officer asked me was the Original Urdu NikahNama and the Ceremony Pictures.

No On-Going Relationship Evidences..No Invitation Card..No Receipts of any gifts exchanged or what-so-ever.

And then came those words which I certainly and honestly wasn't expecting because I already

developed my mind that at Islamabad Embassy there is no way a Male can get away without been

    suffered through an AP.

But you know what she said.."Everything seems to be in Order and Congratulations you have been Approved

& you can get your Passport in 7 working days"..

Got a call today on 11th from AMEX to pick up my Passport..means got it in exactly 2 working days.

    That's still unbelievable to me.

I have only one observation and that the Officer already made up her/his mind regarding your case

and the questions are just mere formality to make the process more authentic and formal.

Just wanna take a moments and praise ALL my folks here on Visa Journey for your extended and

kind support of all nature during my process and I wish ALL the very best for those who are in

AP and those too who are yet to experience the formality of Interview.

    BEST OF LUCK GUYS.

    KIND REGARDS.

Many Many Congratulations on your Approval. My Fiancee's interview is on the 18th of January, this coming Friday and I will be accompanying her. I have a couple of questions, firstly, how much was the shuttle fees, and secondly, did you notice any females who were having their interviews that day and if you did, how did it seem that their interviews went? I hope our interview goes as smoothly as yours went. Once again, Congratulations :)

  8. Hey is there an estimated time it takes to get an interview once NVC have completed my case??

It varies widely from country to country. Once the NVC completes your case, it is forwarded to the Embassy in the beneficiary's country, then they mail/email you a packet (packet 3.5) requesting some info and forms to be filled out. Once you return those to the Embassy, you'll be sent another packet, usually after 2 and 4 weeks, containing the date of your interview, which will usually be within 20-40 days. So you're looking at anywhere from a month and a half to 3 months before your interview. Hope this helps.

  9. I just got back from the American Express Visa Services Office at Shaheen Complex in Karachi. They just charge you a service charge of PKR 1250 for sending it to the US Embassy, then you will have to pay the fees at the physical interview. Seriously, I used a lawyer for the first part of my visa petition, and they are so incompetent. I'm working by myself from here on out. Also, there are some seriously misinformed people working at the American Express Visa Services Office, at first they told me for Form DS 156 "Oh, why did you use this form, it is out of date" and I was like, no way, I checked the list of forms which Packet 3.5 requests, and this was the one which they specifically requested, and twice on top of that. Then they actually went on to check the site and were like, oh ok, I guess this is the form they are using again. Seriously, I was so nervous there for a few minutes, hoping I hadn't filled out the wrong form for my fiancee, but in the end they took all the documentation I provided and gave me a receipt. I was also told that the Embassy would receive it by tomorrow. SN530, thanks for all your help, shukria bhai. Now hopefully the last part of the wait game begins, waiting for Packet 4 with the Interview Date. Anyone know how long is the estimated wait time for that?

  10. Thank you all for the replies. I finally got in contact with the US Embassy in Islamabad and they informed me that the Police Certificate from Pakistan is Valid for 12 months for females and 6 months for males. Got the official email from the Embassy, so if anyone else is wondering, once again, 12 months for females and 6 months for males. Thanks everyone for your help.

  11. Can anyone help me with a quick question. How long is the Pakistan Police Certificate Valid for? I've heard anywhere from 6 months to a year and don't know which one is true. Any help in this regards will be appreciated.

  12. Dear VJ'ers,

I recently got my NOA2 (Yay) and I also got the letter in the mail from them informing me of the approval. What is confusing me is the language of the notice. In the notice it states: The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about Visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate.

What in the world does this mean?? And why does the notice not mention forwarding the petition to the NVC? Does this mean that my petition has already been forwarded to the embassy where my fiancee has to apply (I know it's a long shot that they managed to do this so quickly). I'm attaching the notice along with this post. Hope to hear from y'all in this regards soon. Thanks in advance for the help.

  13. Congrats!!!!! This is really a good news. When did you apply? We applied on 16th may and still waiting. If you say the date then I can have an estimation of time. Regards.

I sent in my petition on the 8th of May. Then I didn't receive my NOA1 notice till the 14th of June because USPS lost it in the mail, but when my attorney called them to ask about the delay, they sent me a notice saying that my case was received on the 10th of May. So May 10th was the official date on which VSC received my petition.

  14. To All the May Filers and my VJ family,

I just checked the USCIS site a half-hour ago and saw this:

On November 2, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I haven't heard sweeter words in months. I've been staying with my fiancee and her family in Karachi for the past 3+ months and was seriously beginning to miss home, even to the point that I was contemplating returning early to Atlanta, but this news finally arrived. I still can't believe it, it's almost 1 a.m. here in Karachi and I'm afraid that I might wake up from a dream. Thanks for all the kind words of support and advice that some of y'all have been giving me, they've really helped me get through these times.

Now the joy of dealing with the NVC and waiting for an interview date starts. I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers and thoughts and y'all please do the same. Let's hope we can all be with our loved ones as soon as possible. Good night and Good luck.

BTW: what happens next? What am I supposed to do now? I'm too overjoyed right now, but I do realize that there are a few more hurdles to clear. Any advice for me will be highly appreciated.

  15. Hi VJer's,

I've started noticing that VSC applications have started to get approved at a faster rate than before (fingers crossed). My timeline keeps jumping from between November 9th till November 17th, but until a couple of weeks ago, it was as far back as November 27th. Does this have anything to do with VSC shedding their workload by sending certain types of applications to other Service Centers? Also, what is y'alls take on the upcoming election, do you think it will slow down the application processing at all? Lastly, with my expected NOA2 date upcoming sometime next month, will it take even longer for NVC to process the last part of the applications since it will be almost December and I know that they will be off for atleast a week for christmas and new years, if not longer. Well, anyways, here's to all the May filers, let's hope we get our approvals soon, I so wish I can be back home in Atlanta for new years with my fiancee, I've been staying here in karachi with her for the past 3 months and am ready to get back home. Also good luck to the remaining filers, may the visa gods hear our prayers and grant us with visas for our loved one's so that we don't have to be apart from them for too long. Amen.

  16. Wow that sucks, how can they possibly justify different things for different people?? I've heard that people who are using far-off relatives or friends as co-sponsors are the one not being allowed to do so. Our co-sponsor would be my father, and he is only co-sponsoring to help me meet the minimum income requirements since I'm a full-time student and am being supported by my family while I get through school. Any other May filers getting ready for their NOA2's?? I'll hope and pray that everyone who has legit cases gets approved quickly. Thankfully they've started sending applications from various other visa categories to other processing centers which is helping speed up the Vermont Service Center filers cases. Good luck to everyone!!
