  1. Been there done that! If you will start a Spouse Visa you must be married first, and yes you must marry in Egypt, this site

    http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/acs12.html

will give you all the guidelines for a marriage in Egypt. As far as the Military YES your fiance Military status will have to be cleared before he travels (you must send Military Records with the visa applicant) and also before traveling to USA, your than husband should have a certificate stateing that he is in good stand to leave the country (My husband got exempted however he picked up this certificate from The Mansura base)

What I also sudgest is that you start looking at the requirenments for the Spouse Visa and start putting all your documents together this will save you some time.

  2. Yes I covered all this with him for the most part he is bringing presents for his son and me, he insists so I do not want to take away his intentions, Yes I did mentioned to him to leave the lap top in Egypt and of course I told him that the Envelope, visa etc he must have with him in the carry on. I also mentioned to him that he should pack his own bags and not wait for any other family member to do so for him since they can unintentionally put something in his suitcases that is a NO NO. I also told him that as far as his personal essentials to bring the smallest items. and as far as the weight I have mentioned to him to leave some extra room in the bags both carry on and check in the event he needs to switch some things and not to stress to the max weight.

Thank you for your reply it was very helpful

Yes Education documents he already went to the univercity and they are working on putting them together for him and perhaps he can pick them up before he travels or he will assign some one to do it for him because he does want to continue his education in USA.

  3. God Bless you, Im so happy for you, my husband too got the visa last week but he is traveling sep 8 from Cairo,

Well make sure you have your envelope, visa, and custom form (will be given to you inside the plane before arriving) this you must deliver at the POE. when you arrive at the POE check point you can tell them you need to catch a next flight withing certain ours.

for what I heard port of entry can be an easy one or a delied one depending on what State, but you should be ok,

I hope you have a safe flight and make sure you post your POE experiance upon arrival and getting seattled

    Regards and congradulations again

  4. Hello again dear Visa Journey members. :help: As mentioned in other topic my husband received his visa a few days ago, and we aleady purchased the ticket for him to travel in two weeks. We are just wondering if there is anything ealse he may need besides the followng things i will mention:

    Visa

    Envelope for POE

Military certificage with authorizaton to depart the country - he got this two days ago( I will like to mentioned that Khaid was exempt from military)

    ticket (of course)

Customs form (I already cover this with him in how to complete)

Also i wanted to ask as far as the customs form khalid has an imigrant visa when declaring his articles in the customs form is he supposed to write down the value of good on the resident portion or visitor portion. or should he leave this blank and just complete the back and write the value there.

I will greatley appreciate if any one can get back to me with feed back on this two questions. thank you in advance and God bless you all in this Journey :D

  5. I srongly agree with you, you look at the helping hand and nothing ealse. I was not born muslim all my family is chatolic but guess what? they love my husband and he loves them back and respect eachother for their believes, and my mother says to me I NEVER LOVED AN ARAB MORE THAN WHAT I LOVE MY GRANDCHILD LOL and they are happy khalid is coming to USA and they are happy knowing our son will be now more involved in Islam... Is not GAY, or Lesbian or Chatolic or Muslim who define us as humans is the kiNdness inside and what your neighbor has done for your husband is priceless, and I been to New York in the past and I have to say people were great with me there and I met some great people.. Good luck and keep on shareing your stories i love to hear more of you guys and your transition.

  6. Thank you HON and you too enjoy your time with your husband and be happy, I read other comments about people and Islam, My husband is Muslim himself and he prays 5 times a day, he fast, and he is very attached to the culture and religion and I AM SO PROUD OF THAT..but he also understands that respect to others is important and all he dreams for him is to come to this country and make me and our son happy, as he said to me yesterday I will respect every one and I will be happy as long you and I respect eachother as husband and wife" he perhaps does not accept the relationship among woman to woman and man to man but he respects as long as he does not affect him but than I ask myself who are we to judge others. So you go on and be happy! i respect every ones opinion but i dont think there is any need to take this subject to extreme and I think all you want to say here is you enjoy to see your husband adjust

  7. I really enjoy reading your story, you gave me some good laughs, and it seems like you are both so happy, this is the kind of stories I like to read, I think for me it will be a little different my husband will be arriving to USA in two weeks after a long wait finally his visa was approved, but not to get out the subject I think Khalid will have a big culture shock despite the fact he is so happy to come to USA to be with us and he tells me he will respect every one but he will respect also his believes and traditions, fare enough for me, I am pretty strict myself and most of my friends are muslim americans so I think we will be ok, We already got a couple of dinners lined up for when he comes. Again I am loving the fact you are happy with your husband and he is enjoying himself in America. My husband is from Egypt but he lived all his life in a small city Damietta your husband will know what i talk about.

Congrats again and happy life together

  8. Hello every one I have great news, Khalid's visa has been APPROVED!!:D , As per the embassy request Khalid sent in new TB test and police record and it was received by the cuncil 8/11 and by 8/15 the visa was issued and sent to him 8/16 and Khalid received today, all he needs to do is get the stamp from military to travel and we will start looking for a ticket, We are all so happy after three years of not seing eachother finally we will be together and he will meet his son, please pray for us that his port of entry goes smoth. I MUST SAY KHALID WAS IN A/P for EIGHT long months.

  9. There is no frame time of how soon or how late you should apply for a visa after marriage, what the emmbassy really looks at is the fact that your relationship is a real one, and it seems like you have a lot of evidence to show that your relationship with you fiance is a real one, but on one recomendation i will tell you to make sure even if you dont have a big wedding take pictures of your wedding even if is a civil one, I did not have a wedding with my husband only a civil one and we only presented our marriage liscence and pictures of my trip to his native country, but we had tons of evidence of our relationship since the day we met. Dont let anything stop you or discourage you , i wish you all the luck and you both should be able to get a visa.. I only recommend you be patiendt because it may take longer than what you predict

    BEST OF LUCK

  10. My husband received a call yesterday from the Embassy in Cairo and the Lady who spoke to him said they had finished reviewing his documents and asked him if he was ready to travel before November, "OF COURSE" ,my husband said than she asked him to send a new Criminal record ( the one in their files has been expired) and to have a TB (Tuberculosis) exam done with any of the doctors who did his medical test before, she asked Khalid to send this to her by DHL as soon as he gathered this documents.

Today I call DC and they confirmed the person who call my husband was from the embassy and they did requested those documents. she also stated the case is undergoing AP but they need the documents to move forward with the case.

We are a little confused because first the woman from the embassy said we finish checking the documents and DC said is additional documents but he is undergoing AP, so than i wonder why was he asked if he was ready to travel before Nov.

does any one out there has ever has this experience, I hope our case is getting closer to getting the visa, but regardless the situation at least we know some one is working on his case. And we are both so happy to know this

  11. First of all try to pring a call log history if you are able to it does not matter if the number are usa numbers or not, make sure that your log is as detailed as possible with phone#'s, dates, times and the lenght of each call. If i were you i will write a letter head explaining how the phone service program works its name and also if you can get any printed documentation from the web to back up what you are saying this should be more than enough. Im sure the consulates and their officers are aware of many comunication methods used by the peritioners and thier applicants and im sure they have heard of this service before, however you want to be prepared and provide them with as much information as possible not leaving any room for questions,

    GOOD LUCK!

  12. First of all read congradulations on the baby! Im sorry to hear you husband is not here with you specially that you are pregnant. I do not think honestly he could be here for the babies birth. Is very unlikely and even if your process was a smooth one it takes time before you get an interview date. and as some one ealse mentioned the A/P process can delay everything.

I had a hight risk pregnancy and this did not smooth the process nor my husband was given the visa after the interview, he is from Egypt and going thru A/P and is been seven months, our son is now 2 years of age and and my husband was not in usa when i gave birth and as of now they have not met , with this im not saying your situation will be the same im not trying to discourage you.

  13. So i wrote to the consulate again, and ask for an update on my husband's case, and i have got a different response this time.. due to their work load an individuals case may take up to a year and that they could not expedite the process"

I been given so many dates, first from 1-3 months, than 3-6 and now they are saying it could be a year. OMG this situation seems to be getting more desperate every day!...hold on tight and hope that this can come to an end soon is all We can do for now.

  14. You must provide as much proof of your relationship as possible no matter how you met, and for your peace of mind many couples now a days meet online so that should not be an issue. If you have records of conversations (on line) phone bills, pics, plane tickets etc. the more the better. some times at the time of interview they will like to see all this and if lucky they will not even bother to ask you and base your interview outcome marely on the responses and how the officer feels about the relationship and i hope this is your situation. make sure you are well prepared with this evidence of ongoing relationship.

"My husband and I met online in 2007 and got married the following year so by the time of interview we had tones of evidence for them, and plus now a days we have a baby what more evidence than that!

  15. Is incredible the amount of responses i have got, I thank you again all for taking the time. and i am also very sorry to hear some of you have faced or are currently faceing similar wituations hope it all comes to an end soon "a good outcome"... As far as contacting my congressman i did so this morning and they recoment we wait at least until the end of the months before another inquiry since the first one was send May 22. they stated they usually inquire every three months, so i will than wait and call back by the end of this months hopeing that by this time all will be resolved.

  16. I cant thank enough all of you for replying to my message.. My congressman asked me to contact her again in July so i think this is the time to do so. and I hope it works. I will keep you posted when any changes arise.

Good luck to all of those who are going thru a VISA process and all those who love ones are already with you.

    Best wishes and regards

Our son says hello to all of you! he is trying to poke on the computer keys as i type to you all lol!

  17. So nice to mmeet you Wendy all your words have brought hope for our case.. I live in the suburbs and i like it, country gal is not bad i like that kind of life a little lay back but is all good, but than you have the crazyness of the city what more than chicago down town. ho well as i said to you before i only wish the best for you and your husband.. how does he likes the states is a change from cairo to usa.

Khalid is to worry of finding a job that is my husband and i say to him lets get the VISA first lol.

ho well i only pray and pray that this will be over soon.. HUGS you be good and take care.

  18. No the other way around im older by 10 yrs but im thinking from day one this will represent a problem, the congressman office said to me that the age difference is not a problem but i think this is the entire deal. who knows. at the end if i dont get my husband to USA i will relocate to

Egypt and i know my husband will say to me I TOLD YOU SO since day one he wanted me to stay in Egypt so did his family. Im greatful to have a family who loves me in Egypt so if my husband do not get the visa perhaps they will all make this transition better i think im just afraid of the change.

But God willing as you say he will get his visa soon and this will be let behind.. a saw your port entry was CHICAGO so i suppose you and your wife live in chicago, mee too.. is a great city i wish you the best and only the very best

  19. Yes they say MANDATORY, as per the what about of our relathinship i been to Egypt twice got pregnant in my second trip, could not travel during pregnancy due to hight risk pregnancy. i am chatolic my husband muslim i have not declare islam something that my husband stated in the interview i do wear the vail (i study islam now) but have not convert. as far as my chats of phone call with my husband i sent the embassy tons of records since 2007 endless phone bills and chat history. they did question my husband several times if he was certain the baby was his (more than willing to provide with a paternal test) but they did not request one. my only thing here is why seat on some ones cases and not just say denial so we can decide what to do with our life.. im holding on to USA because like many immigrants we want a better life. AS far as the Congressman yes i did visit their office and they kindly send an email great attitude and willing to help but the emmbassy replied the next day with the same thing MANDATORY AP. Hopeing this night mare will come to an end soon because my relationship with my husband despite the distance is a stong i think every one gets tired of waiting and is to hard for the three of us. My son is gorowing up without the father figure and is so hard for me to see so families together and i am here missing mine. just one document that set us appart and that could bring us together how ironic
