  1. Just to add, I was browsing through the cfo website and it seems that they've updated the number of slots available per session. From what i've read:

Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays (Morning and afternoon sessions) = 15 slots each

Tuesdays/Thursdays (Morning session only - no afternoon session available) = 30 slots

you can check through their website to be sure: http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1348%3Afiancee-spouses-and-other-partners-of-foreign-nationals&catid=140&Itemid=813

    Thought i'd share :)

  2. They are allowed to open it, no one else is. If it had been torn open before they touched it they would have good reason to reject it and deny entry.

The corner is cut at the embassy, the envelope comes that way. The corner is ALWAYS cut.

Thank you for the confirmation, Hank.

  3. Some were there in as early as 3 am....I went there around 530 am and I am already on for afternoon session...so just be early......

wow. that's crazy, but then i figured you really have to be there at a crazy time just to get in and secure a slot. thanks for the advice :)

i came there at 4:30am and i was 7 person in line...the office open at 6:30am

Thank you for the head's up. it's weird that they limited the slots to just 12 when there are a lot of people who have to take the counseling.

    thanks, thanks!

  4. Yes, the cut on the corner is normal, I already read that on some threads here. I'm just worried about case number it's on the upper right of the visa it says IV case number so I compared it to the case ID that's on my immigrant data summary and I noticed they added 01 at the end.

I got to CFO office around 7 due to traffic. I'll try to go earlier tomorrow.

    You done with it?

thank you for the reassurance regarding the cut on the envelope.

I'm not yet done with the CFO though. i wonder what time would be best to be there. hmmm.

  5. Yes it's on the upper right side under the IMMiGRANT ViSA is written IV Case Number and under that is MNL with numbers same as my case ID only they added 01 at the end under that is registration number.

my apologies -- i didn't realize you're under a different visa category. someone with the same visa category as you would probably be more helpful. sorry for the confusion =/

  6. I was just looking at my visa and are you pertaining to the control number on the upper right corner? mine has 14 digits including the 01 that you mentioned. based on my research it would seem like this just shows when the visa was processed using the Julian date system. Is your MNL case number same as the control number? I'm guessing it's different if what I just told you is correct.

Please keep us posted or somebody correct me if my statements are inaccurate.

    Thank you.

  7. hello,

i, too have a cut on the corner of the packet they sent me, but according to the US embassy agent i chatted with it's not an issue; however, regarding the case number you're pertaining to, where in the visa can i find that and where do i compare it to?

about the CFO limited slot, may i ask what time you were there? I'm just wondering what time one has to be there in order to get in the limited slot.

    thank you!

  8. Just a quick update, I was able to contact the embassy -- i used their chat support and it was pretty easy. I suggest that you guys try that should you have any questions. the link to the chat support is http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-main-chat.asp.

anyway, like i've said, the agent said the cut on the corner of the envelope shouldn't be a problem and that i only have to double check that my visa has my correct information.

hope this helps some of you.

  9. Thanks, Bob. I'll try to call the embassy to inquire; however, I have read that there were others who've had the same experience and it seems that this is the norm. There really seems to be a cut in a corner for some reason. It kind of gives me a little peace of mind, but I'll check with the embassy just the same.

  10. i have a question on the yellow envelope, too. i actually just received mine now, literally. like dr mirage, we had a lot (and i mean a lot) of paperwork that we sent in and the papers are sticking out of the corner. basically it's like they cut the corner where it's impossible to take out the papers and put them back in without destroying the envelope. i'm thinking (and hoping) this isn't an issue since, like i said there's no way for me to take out the paperwork anyway.

    thoughts?

  11. Hello,

Quick question -- i'm flying in on October 29, but i have a couple of layovers before i get to LA. I'm flying in from MANILA to NARITA (Japan) to SEATTLE and finally to LOS ANGELES. With that, I wanted to double check where my POE would be? I'm thinking it would be in SEATTLE where I will go through immigration and then fly domestic to Los Angeles without having to go through immigration again.

If anyone can confirm or correct it would be greatly appreciated. Would it cause any issue?

  12. For Philippines on pg 2 of this letter, yes

EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails, phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and intent to marry.

i think this just means that you need to have enough proof that there is an intent to marry each other, but not necessarily the letter of intent. i just finished my interview and this was not requested from me.

does it have to be typewritten sis??

i didn't bring any letter of intent during my interview. our letters of intent to marry where included in our petition packet. also, this was not requested from me during my interview today, but it wouldn't hurt if you want to bring one.

  13. Hello,

Since this is a topic regarding the medical examination i wanted to give my input on this -- i just went through my medical exam yesterday and i was able to finish everything in one day. apparently some people just go through the one-day processing. i guess it depends on what your results are and i was lucky enough to be one of them; however, a note of caution, even though you're lucky enough to finish everything in one day it could take up your WHOLE day. i was at St. Luke's at 7am and i was kind of breezing through the whole process, but during the releasing of the passport, my copy of the vaccinations, returning the receipt and getting the copy of the x-ray, that process alone took 4 agonizing hours. Also, i think they take their lunch break [i was hoping they were working on shift schedules] so they ask you to come back at 1PM just to tell you to return to the 2nd floor so you could be vaccinated that same day.

I wouldn't suggest going there extra early because some of the steps that you need to go through open at 8:30am anyway so you'll be waiting like all the rest. 7AM is a reasonable hour, but then again just prepare for the long wait specifically during the Releasing part -- looks like they don't have a process for this meaning it's not a first in, first out for the paperwork. they give out the results on whichever paperwork they get a hold of. so even though you finished everything ahead of the others you might end up leaving later than them which is crazy i think :s

    I hope this helps :)

  14. I'm looking on my NBI now and it says no record on file yes you don't have to worry :) and you're welcome.

Hi, quick question on that 'No Record On File' statement. I also have the same thing on my NBI clearance and I'm getting conflicting answers from the forums. I wanted to ask if this is a good thing or do I need to get a new NBI clearance that says 'No Derogatory Record' or something like that?

    Appreciate your response :)

  15. Hello,

I was just wondering if the lost of my passport with my expired L1 visa would be a ground for K1 visa denial. Our lawyer said this shouldn't be an issue, but I wanted to double check just the same.

What happened was when I came back last year from working in the US for 2.5 years my visa got lost (or stolen), but I immediately filed for a police report and an affidavit of loss so I have those with me. I already have a new passport which i also filed right after I found out that my other one was lost. all my paperwork and documentation reflect the current passport details of course.

any insight would be appreciated :)
