  1. thanks GOD u replied to me dear Celeste! my fiance called today after ihad told him about ur helpful advice! now i got this new case number and the date it was sent to Athens on Sept 24, 2012 thanks a lot ! if it hadn't been u, we wouldn't know about this information now ..anyway thanks a lot i will call them tomorrow ...hope the packet will be here soon ..may i adress to you when i have some queries afterwards? hope u wont get bored with my questions ..thanks and best regards :)

  2. You are most welcome.

The NVC will give your fiance a new case number that will start with some letters, something like ATS making reference to the city of Athens.. for example for Buenos Aires (Argentina) is BNS, for Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) is SDO, etc. They will also tell you if your file has been sent to Athens already. If that hasn't happened, don't lose hope, it takes a few days for them to get the file from USCIS, process it and send it to Greece. So call again in a few days.

Only the USC can call the NVC and this is their number 603-334-0700

  3. 1 to 2 months to receive Packet 2? Didn't expect that!

I've read the sticky post many times and so far, almost everyone's experiences had been pleasant.

So, if we say that I do visit for Christmas, since it's highly unlikely that I'll have a job by then (Greece, you know?), I was thinking about volunteering at the research lab I was when I was in university. This way, I might have my ''boss'' write me a letter saying that I indeed volunteer there and that he is expecting me to be back let's say January 8th or something.

I know it's not a paying job, but wouldn't be at least nice to have a letter from him? Doesn't that show something?

I will be having evidence with me (NOA, my laywers card in case they wanna ask something, blah blah blah), but other than that I do not own/rent a house to show them enough ties.

But honestly now, I'be going there in Christmas which is a hiliday season and only be stayin for about 18 days. What can go so terribly wrong? :/

  4. dear Celeste & C,i cant tell u how greatful i am ! thanks again for ur help ! i guess i will have to ask the last question concerning this case number ..could u tell me whether u meant the case number of NOA1, so called recipient number ,or NVC is supposed to give us the new case number which will be different from the first one..thanks in advance :)

  5. Good job updating your Timeline.

If you click on the flag under your name, you'll reach the Greek portal and find more information about other members that are going (or have gone) through the Embassy in Athens.

Have your fiance call NVC and retrieve your case number. With that new case number, you can call and/or email the Embassy and let them know that you have an approved Petition for a K1 visa and that you are awaiting instructions.

At this stage, things are specific to each country (because everyone does it in their own way) so you can contact other members to, at least, find out what's the best way to get a hold of the Embassy.

  6. thanks a lot! i am a beneficiary from greece ..i created timeline( though don't know how the ticks on the chart are controlled and who manages this process..)my fiance called them twice ( the # on I 797)but they said nothing, they only asked if he was a petitioner..and that they have our case but they didn't give any information except that our status is NOA 2 and file sent to consulate..but they didnt clarify to which one...That's what we found out for the time being ..i guess we have to wait for some written instructions ..thanks everybody for ur help

  7. You, the beneficiary, will be the one to be interviewed at the US embassy in your country. I would have your fiance in the US to call the phone number of the NVC and ask for instructions, and the approval number. They will probably tell him how to schedule a date for you to attend your interview. Hope this helps a little...

  8. thanks a lot for ur reply! can u tell me what happens next? a month and a half has passed after the petition approval and neither my fiance nor me knows what to do..where is the petition now in which consulate ? who is going to be interviewed my finace( the petitioner) who lives in the USA or me the beneficiary who lives in another country ..thanks in advance PLEASE help me to figure this out

  9. And so, the story is that we filed our I129-F for a K1 Visa in late April, and although initially VJ timeline would suggest us a date in late August for initial approval, by now it was pushed back to the end of October. This made the two of us (as well as our families) go insane, worrying that I may not be able to get back to US before winter holidays.

Today, I was watching TV (it was late night in Armenia), when my fiance iMessaged me asking me to double check the USCIS website for the news. You probably can't imagine how I jumped off the couch and ran to my computer (with only one sleeper on, throwing all the pillows that I've been cuddling with on the floor), and YES, that was it! As of yesterday (October 15, 2012) our petition for fiancee has been approved!

This was so unexpected, and amazing, given people waiting for these news almost twice longer, but I am guessing we have been both diligent and lucky enough.

We want to wish everyone reading this posting the best of luck, and a tiny tip of advice for those who haven't filed yet - please make sure you work hardly and consistently on your paperwork. These people would not deny you for stupid details like not sticking your proof picture to a sheet of paper, or mentioning your fiance as a "husband" in one of your proof emails, but they really want to see clear, consistent relationship, that does not raise any questions. If you make sure your petition looks like this, you may be lucky enough to be one of the first approvals of your date:-)

    Thanks to everyone!

    The happy couple
