  1. Just want to be clear on this. If we're not going out of country while still in I-751 process (after receiving the NOA for extending 1 year), we don't have to get anything like stamp on our passport , right?

Right- because you received the NOA you don't require an I-551 stamp. The only reason I got the stamp was because I never received my NOA- this stamp serves as its replacement.

  2. Good luck with getting the bio notice

Why is your stamp only valid for 3 months? Aren't they supposed to grant you a year? Or do you have an expiring passport like zenaxe?

    Thank you :)

The 3 months was 100% arbitrary- my passport doesn't expire for another 4 years. The officer who I spoke with looked incredibly bored with the whole ordeal and she was chit chatting with the person in the cubicle next to her. I could hear the officer whispering to her colleague, asking how long she should make the stamp valid for... She asked me how long I'd be out of the country for, and when I told her it'd be just for the weekend, she said '3 months should be fine then'.

I was disappointed because I'm pretty confident I'll have to return to get a second stamp, but I wasn't going to argue with her!

    Hi, Jress.

It seems you're in the same boat as I am for the biometric. I haven't received it yet while everyone else seems to get it......

I think it's about time for me to call the USCIS. Which option that you chose to speak to a live person?

Hi Rongko- I just followed the automated prompts. I'm pretty sure I chose an option something like "inquiring about case status". To be honest, whoever you get on the first try will probably forward you to another person anyways... at least that's been my experience! Good luck! :)

  3. Hi jress, let us know your sent date. Then we can add you to CSC list :)

Hi! I sent my package May 15th and it was received at CSC on May 17th. I didn't receive my NOA or my biometrics letter yet, despite my check being cashed on June 5th. (However, I did call and was given my receipt number- when I looked this up, it confirmed that USCIS received on May 17th).

I scheduled an InfoPass last week, and got the I-551 stamp on June 22nd. Unfortunately, it's only valid for 3 months. When I asked if I could do my biometrics while I was there, I was told that they are currently 45 days + behind schedule, so they were completely booked.

I don't have much hope for my NOA anymore, but I'm still crossing my fingers that I'll get that biometrics letter soon :)

  4. Is taking away your GC when you get a 551 passport stamp standard procedure or is there a lot of inconsistency between officers on this? Curious to know of others' experience here who have got the stamp.

They didn't take away my green card- I got the stamp on Friday, and traveled this past weekend. When I returned to the states on Sunday, they still ran my card, as well as looked at the stamp in my passport.

  5. First question: I chose the same option as you have stated above.

Second: Your purpose of getting an infopass is to talk to an immigration officer about your situation of not getting any letter e.g. Biometrics schedule nor NOA, although you were given your receipt number.

When you go to your infopass appointment, ( make sure you printed out your schedule details) , just give the receipt number to the immig officer you're gonna be talking to and tell them if they could check in their system when your schedule for biometrics is. It could have passed, it could be so soon you have no idea as you dint receive any letter. Then from there, maybe you could seek if it is fine to do your biometrics since you are already there.

At least you have the receipt number you have something to show during your infopass appt, did you try checking your status online since you have the receipt number?

Thanks for your help! I made an infopass appointment for Friday morning... so we'll see how it goes! It would be great if I could get my biometrics done at the same time- you're right, it could have passed already, I have no idea.

The person I spoke with at USCIS gave me two case numbers- one didn't work, and the second was for my I-751. The current status is the generic 'initial review' saying: "On May 17, 2012, we received this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."

  6. Hi I'm new here, but have already found this site to be so helpful!!

I filed with CSC on May 17th, and my check was cashed on June 5th- but I haven't received the NOA1 or my biometrics notice :( I called USCIS today and was told that my application was received on May 17th, and was given my receipt number. When I asked about the NOA1 the rep told me that it hadn't been mailed yet, but that it will probably be sent to me in the next couple of weeks?! (I'm not sure why they can't mail it out earlier...?) Because my green card expired at the end of May, and I want to travel this weekend, I think my only option is to schedule an InfoPass and hope for the best!

I have two questions: First, when it asks "Please select Kind of Service you need" did those of you who scheduled one choose the "You need information or other services" option?

Secondly, since all I have is a receipt number- (I don't have a the bio-NOA yet, or a copy of the cashed check- only my bank statement showing it was withdrawn), do you think I might run into a problem getting my passport stamped?

Any advice would be very appreciated :) :) Thanks!
