  1. Dear VJ Friends, Hi!!!

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this. As I informed you guys, I have lost my job. Do to some emergency situation that came up, I must travel overseas, could apple for unemployement compensation while I will be gone out of country for a couple months? Of course I still need to pay bill while I am gone so I do have my expense as far as mortage and bill go. Do you think is it ok? Please help.

  2. Hi VJ friends. I hope everyone is fine!

I still have not heard anything from the US embassy in Kabul. I have tried emailing them, but no answers. I decided to call our Senator to see if they can contact the embassy on our behalf. Any suggestions on what else I can do or if calling and involving our state senator would help our case. Thank you all.

  3. Hi dear VJ Friends,

I am back with some questons my Co-Sponsor needs an answer to. Here are the questions....

For the question # 3, “This affidavit is executed on behalf of the following person” Does she need to put down my fiancée’s information and put the relationship as friend, right? Please explain if not right.

Under question # 10 “I have submitted a visa petition to U.S. Citizenship and immigration services on behalf of the following person” Her need to put NO, right? Because I am the primary petitioner and sponsor and she is a co-sponsor she needs to put NO as an answer. Please say if am right or wrong.

On question # 11, she doesn’t check any of those boxes, right? Do we need to use the text from the sample I-134 forms provide in this forum or no?

SOMEONE Please help on these questions.

  5. Hello,

If You have provided correct email address and phone #'s they will contact you. Just wait sometimes they are very slow. Also once you have the email make appointment for your medical right away otherwise you will have re reschedule your interview the medical place is really busy. After interview it will take another 2 months or longer for the visa to be issued. So plan to wait for a while I am going through the same process right now.

    Good Luck

I am so happy to see a reply from someone who is going through the same thing at the same country/embassy. Thanks for your post and help. Yes, I have given the embassy the correct email address and phone numbers. How long did it take for you before you recieved your instruction email or pacakge from the embassy? Could you also please tell me what they ask for in the instruction pakage? I want to be prepared. I want to know if they ask for the original docs. Also, I sent some of the necessary docs for my fiancee's for the interview, will they be picky about the date? You know how hard it is to sent thing to Afganistan, so Someone was going I sent those with. Please share any information you can so I have some idea and vision of what to expect. Thank you and good luck with your journey as well.

  6. yup yup .

DoS Hotline is yer buddy for the moment.

Please read Dodi's excellent post about using a telephone -

    Dodi - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

she's posted who to call, how to call,

and further down, I've posted what you can get, from which office, and when.

{do find my stuff in her post, la)

    Good Luck !

(IMO, if Kabul is acting like a 'tardo, the casefile isn't opened yet - and fwiw - is rarely a USCitizen Consular Officer that responds to Consular IV emails)

Thank you for your helpful reply as always. I am going to read the info and ask you questions if needed. Thanks again

  7. please to call the DoS Hotline (# in my profile, click the girls, study left panel)

    then

    ask for casefile status.

You are seeking/listening for 'casefile opened' timetick.

If they sent yer fiance a packet 3, you need to check the address that DoS has.

re: NVC - NVC can give you the Kabul casefile # - you'll need that when you call DoS Hotline.

if you have that casefile # already, email Kabul IV again, using the casefile # in the email, and inquire for casefile status.

I did. I got my case number from the NVC and I included my case number, petitioner's DOB and beneficiary's DOB along with the beneficiary's email address and phone numbers. I gave the NVC her email address when I called and recieved my case number. I don't know what to do now? When I called the NVC they said there is nothing they can do for the K1 visa it is all handle at the embassy level. I keep sending the embassy emails requesting information back. I am so surprised that the emabssy didn't know K1 is not handled at the NVC. I can't undrstand this. I will try to call tomorrow to DOS and find out what is going on? :help:

  8. Please help and guide me. I do't know what else I can do? :help:

I don't know what is going on? My petition has been forwarded to the US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan about a month ago, but my fiancee or I have not heard anything. I emailed the embassy 3 weeks ago, after one week they replied back saying... my fiancee should have received a package of instruction from the NVC. I called the NVC and they told me that they have nothing to do with K1 visas. Anything we will be getting is from the embassy. I emailed back the embassy explaing what the NVC told me. IT has been a week and half and no reply back. I resent my second email twice now. I do't know what is going on. I hope someone will help me. I am going to post this message on the South Asia froum and hoping someone from that area will be willing to answer and add their experience with that particular embassy. God bless you all for helping me. :bonk:

  9. Don't be confused. I told you correctly before. You need to fill out an I-134 and your co-sponsor also needs to fill out their own I-134. For a K-1, most consulates use the I-134, period. The documents and forms required for the K-1 interview vary depending on the consulate. It is important to know exactly what your own consulate asks for. You should have been given instructions from your consulate that lists what is required for the K-1 interview there. Follow exactly what your consulate asks for.

Please do not confuse the situation. The petitioner(primary sponsor) and the co-sponsor each fill out an I-134 for the K-1 visa.

Thank you so much. You have been very helpful. I think now I know what forms to use. As for as receiving instruction from the embassy, I have not gotten anything from the ebassy. Waiting sucks, realy sucks,

  10. Your sponsor needs to fill out a separate form not the I-134. You fill that out then they fill something else out. Depending on whether you live with your co-sponsor or not you have a certain form to fill out. I would go to USCIS.gov to find out which form you need.

Ok now I am confused. I asked before and everyone told me that my co-sponsor need to fill out the I-134 form and now they have to fill out something else and I have to fill out something different? I am totally confused. Please carify?

  11. I have to disagree. Unemployment Compensation is a temporary source of Income. (no it's not Welfare.) But, Unemployment shows instability as Income. Agree?

I have seen in the past Members stating they were Approved on Unemployment Benefits but they also stated: They had OVER 3 times the Poverty Amount in Savings/Checking etc. The OP has $30,000.00 Not enough! Agree?

What the CO and USCIS will look for is that the relationship NOT become a public charge. I agree the OP needs a Sponsor but to say: Unemployment is a gift and you earned it is partially true but not in it's entirety with USCIS. It's not a job.

So you mean, individuals have been approved even being unemployed? I do agree it is a temporary source of income, but do you think having an co-sponsor will help? Also you mentioned that the $30,000 is not enough? What is a good and acceptable amount to have if any? Please carify your above message. Thanks

  12. Unemployment is not welfare. You are the USC and paid into the system and are allowed to seek unemployment benefits. It will not affect your fiancee at all.

Also, I have about $30,000 in savings, will be qaulified for unemployment compensation? When I have $30,000 in savings isn't it enough if I be the sole sponsor or not? I just want to be in the safe side and leave no room for denial. I miss my fiancee like crazy and can't wait to see her. :crying:

  13. She doesn't. For self-employed they will use the income from line 22 of her 2011 1040 then. She should provide a complete copy of her tax return, including the 1040, all schedules, pages and attachments, etc. An exact replica of what would be sent to the IRS when filing. If she wishes to use bank statements to show her income deposits, she can, but like I said, they will use line 22 of her 1040 to base her qualifying for the 125% requirement on.

Thanks. Could she use IRS tax return transcripts instead of sending all the originals? Also could she send copies of all the doc she has send to IRS for her income tax? Please let me know if the IRS transcript is sufficient.

  14. If your consulate accepts co-sponsors, the co-sponsor will need to have enough income to meet the 125% requirement for their household size plus the beneficiary. They need to fill out their own separate I-134 and provide a letter from their employer, a few months recent pay stubs, 2011 tax transcript, and proof of being a USC or LPR.

My co-sponsor owns a business. She makes more than enough. Okay so you said she needs... fill out I-134, proof of citizenship, but if she is her own boss, how can she provide employement letter and paystubs? Does she have to provide bank account verification and letter from her bank?

Sorry for your loss of employment, but are you going to be getting unemployment? Double check it still might be enough. Hope all works out for you!

Thanks for your sympthy. Do you think if I fill for unemployement would this be acceptable by the consulate or governement? Wouldn't this disqaulify my fiancee for having a visa since I will be on welfare?

  15. Ok guys since I have lost my job and have no other inocme, I think I need to have a co-sponsor for the form I-134. What do I and my co-sponsor need to do here? I have filled out the I-134, have a statment from my bank verifying my account which I have about $30,000 in savings and I have the last 3 years of tax return transcripts. I dont have any dependents. What my co-sponsor would need to have? What some of you mean by joint sponsorship? By the way, I have filed for K1 visa. Please need your help. Thanks

  16. K1 petitioner needs 3X the income amount in assets (not 5X) to satisfy the requirement. Use the asset guidelines found in the I-864 instructions for reference. Or you can click the I-864 FAQ link in my signature below.

    Thanks for your reply!

So if I have that asset as liquid do I still have to have a co sponsor?

Just to carify one thing here. For K1 the affidavit of suport form to fill out is the I-134 and not

I-864 right? I-864 is file for th adjustment of status once the foregin finacee is here and married to Us citizen then that when that form is use, am I right?

  17. Questions again...

Example: If the petitioner has no job and has been layed off (Not by choice), but has the financial means that covers 5 years of the poverty guidlines for 2 householeds, would the petitioner need a co-sponor or the finance of the petitioner herself/himself is sufficant? Please reply to this question.

    Thank you all so much
