  1. MikeH,

For what its worth, we had our interview last week and towards the end we were given instructions on lifting conditions which I took as a sign of approval and our online status was "touched" but the status read the same default message from when we first sent in the applications... then later last week we got the "welcome letter" in mail with no change in online status (no emails either) and after that the online status was touched again today and the status message finally changed to the after approval card ordered message. Also go multiple emails stating the same.

Mike, USCIS has put you through some ######, I am glad its finally almost over for you and wish that you have your GC in hand soon.

    Take care friend!

  2. Hi Guys,

Just got home from our interview this morning

We'll post details later but don't think they are necessary since the interview itself was more like a relaxed conversation with a friendly elder.

Towards the end of the interview he went over applying for lifting of conditions 90 days prior to expiration of Greencard that we'll receive within 2 months according to him...

I asked about stamping her passport, he said it was uneccessary as she'd get the greencard soon... I didnt make a fuss since he was a very nice person.

Since we talked about a lot of things... especially him and myself it took about half an hour...

Anyways, we'll post indetail later and just wanted to drop in and thank you all for your help and support.

    Thanks!

  3. ...perhaps I'm misunderstanding and this "test of american history" interview is for naturalision not AOS. I'm confused.

    Fiona

    Hi Fiona,

You are correct, sounds like the questions in back of the books about America are questions for (N-400) Citizenship test (interview) and not for marriage based AOS whereas the ones on VJ are for the most part marriage based AOS questions...

  4. CanGal,

I dont think you'd have to get shots done over again.

We also didnt have a copy of DS-3025, in our case the Civil Surgeon looked at the immunization record wify brought over from India, and determined that my wife was up-to-date on her immunizations and just copied over the information onto a I-693 vaccination supplement form and put it in a sealed envelope.

  5. Will immigration office offer any document for reentry USA after I pass the green card interview? I will have my green card interview within the next few weeks, but I have an expired Malaysia passport. Malaysia government policy will not allowed renew expired passport from whom reside oversea. All Malaysian must renew its passport in Malaysia,if the passport expired, but Malaysia consulate will issue emergency certificate for traveling back to Malaysia only. Will the immigration officer stamp my expire passport or provide any document so that I can be assure can enter USA?

My understand that immigration office will stamp I-55 or I-94 for passing the interview. Can I use these dcoument for reentry the USA?

if they stamp the passport then yes you can use it to travel outside US and reenter but thats IF they stamp your passport, in a lot of cases they dont since according to them the greencard arrives shortly...but you can ask...

  6. My dear fellow VJ'ers...

Around this time tomorrow, we'll be at the Spokane office for our AOS Interview...

    Feeling very nervous...

Here is what we have in terms of proof

    • Bank Statements
    • Credit card statements
    • Auto insurance (Verification letter from progressive showing my wife's name on my policy)
    • Letters addressed to my wife at our current residence
    • Junk mail addressed to my wife at our current address
    • Cable bill showing her name
    • Library card with print outs of renewal emails from the library showing our address
    • Invoice from our reception (Banquet)
    • 2005 joint tax returns
    • Photographs of our engagement and travel together in India from 2004
    • Photographs of us in India again in 2005
    • Airline tix from both times I went to Inida and her coming back with me this last time
    • Photographs of our court marriage
    • Photographs of our reception in the US.
    • Photographs of our travels in the US after the marriage
    • (all in all about 600 photographs of us together and with family friends and relatives)

    What i feel uncomfortable about is the lack of the following;

    • Mortgage/Title with her name - My Parents own the house and are cosponsors
    • Gas/Electric bills - Same reason as above
    • Car registrations - My Parents own all of the cars since insurance is cheaper

What do you guys think of the proof of relationship I've got?

Other than that being realistic, I do expect same hurdles we faced at the embassy, since our relationship was started prior to me obtaining a divorce from my ex-wife. We had to give an explaination as to why that happened etc... I am expecting the same will be asked here...

Please wish us luck and pray for us.

Thanks all for your support thus far.

  7. Hi Shannon,

I remember you from the K1 forums, I am very sorry to hear about all the problems.

I think you will have to "withdraw" the AOS as that's no longer a Valid option and just like motu said do K3...

but just like motu said, please think about this. You seem like a very sweet and innocent person and is all this headache worth it? is/was his behaviour appropriate? only you know that and ultimately its your call and I apologize if I offend you but as a fellow VJ'er or just as a fellow human being I'd hate to see you get hurt...

should i notify the ins of his leaving or just let it go and re apply for k 3 when we are ready...

Sannon, as it is with INS, if I were you, I'd formally withdraw the AOS application in writing... just my humble advice.

I feel very sorry for what you've gone through... I keep thinking that you've gone through so much pain (emotionally & physcially) while his way of handling things was to just take off to India? I can tell you are really in love with him and I feel bad for saying this but I think you shoudl really really think about this...

  8. Congratulations!! :luv:

Question though, why'd she take your EAD card? Do they all do this when you get approved for your greencard?

    Jelti,

yes they take your EAD and AP if you are approved for GC since you dont need them anymore... you then use the GC for employment and travel...

My interview was REALLY FAST!!! and I am approved!!!! YEY

 Well I was waiting for good news since this morning... glad to read it

    Congratulations
