  1. All,

    I am currently working on my STEM 17 months extension which expires in january 2013. My current company says they wont be able to sponsor me for the H1B visa so they asked me to find out other alternatives;

    1) Enroll back to school to obtain a master's degree (expensive but doable). Can I work while in school? or is it only part time? or do i need to wait before start working again?

    2) Get a H!B visa from another company (a family friend who is a business owner could help) and then transfer to my company? NOt sure if this is a safe way to do it.

    3) Other alternatives : H-3 visa maybe?

    4) get an extension on my STEM OPT? I think STEM is the last extension I can get....so I am not sure

    Did anybody had experience with any of these??

    Thanks,

    Lis

  2. I can't do the extension-I graduated from accounting and that's a bummer!

    Looks like I need to call a good lawyer,cuz I'm running out of time...don't want to lose my status!

    Thanks Gosia and Tito!

    Also, you could enroll in a college or university. It will be the expensive alternative and you wont be allowed to work until you get authorization.

    Agar!

    I am on the same plate as yoou are .. however i am already using my 17 months of stem extension and running out of time because my compnay says they might not be able to sponsor me for an h1-b . Ive been looking for other alternatives to a h1-b visa and I read somewhere that I can apply to a J-1 ... but according to the last post that might not be possible... other alternatives i guess is the H-3 visa but still working on more research. Let me know if you find out of another way.

    Liss
