  1. Mayi:

That's crazy!! Everything with Cuba is so complicated!! but the good thing is that you were able to fix the problem and have a second chance.

I wish you the best of luck!! I'll be praying for you both!!

    Mervyn

Thank you soooo much.... I pray everyday toooo

Ay, chica! I am so sorry that happened to you! I have never heard of that happening (especially considering that you were able to schedule the interview/he was able to pick up package 3, etc.). I know that you would like to be there for the interview but I am sure everything will go well for him on the 15th. I hope everything goes smoothly from this point on!

I hope so too. Thank you for concern chica...

  2. Believe it honey!!!. I asked the same thing, how did they give me an interview if docs were not there. How did they give him package 3, if docs were not there. But believe it when I say it. He did show his docs at the entrance (office before fingerprints) but when we turned in the docs that we had filled out. they went to look for his package and it was not found. The consulate works in mysterious way. It was a head, but his docs were found, and the electronically part, the consulate wants papers in front of them, not electronically

Thank you for your concern. Hope everthing goes well for you too..

The whole point was for me to be there at the time of interview, now I won't be able to, can't take anymore time off work... I pray everyday that god puts his hands on him, and that everything goes well. So we can be together soon.

  3. Hi Mayi,

I’m not sure I understand completely…So Omar was called inside the US Interests Section Building on the September 27 interview date? And he actually made it is a far as the fingerprint window? We had to have the letter from the US Interests Section to get inside the building, then we had to pay the $150 CUC interview fee at a window, before we could go to the fingerprint window. Did you have to pay the fee too?

I’m not positive about this, but they receive your documents electronically there too (before the mail/DHL), and they would NEVER have issued Omar the interview date and Interview Notice without receiving documents from NVC. That’s ridiculous, but we had a similar problem…My fiancé was allowed into the interview without a hitch, but we had two K-2 children that were listed on the interview letter that weren’t even allowed to enter the building. I corralled the Section Chief, after he swore us in, and he was very helpful in scheduling an interview for the boys a couple weeks later…he actually shamefully admitted that this happens to K-2’s at times, because we were apparently supposed to call the scheduling line for each of the 2 boys on separate calls even though we did schedule and give all their information at the same time as my fiance’s info…It was horrible for us, but I can’t imagine they could pull that BS off with the primary K-1 Omar after he was already inside…how horrible for you.

I know how stressful it is, but I think things will work out for you guys in the end…fairly soon. Many people have these unnecessary “setbacks”…I sometimes think they just don’t want it to be too easy. We have the green card interview on October 15 too…pretty nervous here too…We’ll be thinking about you guys.

    Best wishes and luck,

    Beau & Digna

  4. This message to all those who are awaiting the interview date to arrive.... My interview with my fiance was on September 27. We arrived very early just like everybody does. When we got to the window where finger prints are taking, they told us that the package had never arrived. I as a Citizen was able to speak to a consular after so many tries that day. And they told me that they will call me when package arrived that mail is very slow.

    Slow maillllll,,,,, yeah right!!!

When i got back to the state, and called the NVC, i found out that package was sent out on July 6. After so many investigations along with help of a very good friend (and a shoulder when I needed it). I found out that the package got lost somewhere on its way to Cuba along with others. After so many calls and beign persistent. The NVC sent a message to the Consulate stating the problem. And I called and they gave him another interview date for October 15.

My advice to all check and make sure ur package is at the consulate. Dont think that just because its been three months assume that ur package is there.

This has been very traumatizing for me. I would not like for this to happen to anyone.

How i found out about package being lost; Example

if the NVC says that package left on July 6. look up dhl tracking by reference

    ref: EXP 05 JUL2012A

DATE FROM: JULY 5 THRU CURRENT DATE

    COUNTRY: CUBA

AND YOU WILL FIND THE UR PACKAGE, NOT GUARANTEEING IT BUT ITS A START. IF NO PACKAGE HAD LEFT THE DAY BEFORE TRY THE NEXT THREE DAYS (THE MOST)

  5. my opinion is this. once you find out that the nvc has sent package to consulate, it will take uo to two weeks for them to get paperwork, and besides you can print all that information that is inside of package 3 www.usint.gov. even the list of hospitals that only do the medical exam... u are waisting time and they r just tryi.g to prolong things, if u have any questions just call me.....

the consulate in cuba does not work like the rest, there delivery service and telegram service are no that fast

  6. Whoops. If there is no copy of the medical exam, Couldn't one do a medical exam here in the states for an AOS? Or is it suppose to be the medical exam used to enter country. I can't believe I missed that detail. Im still trying to register the PSI with the Cuban interests section! anyone got an idea about that?

yes u can, just make sure tgat its a doctor that certified from immigration

  7. You as their daughter in-law can invite them over for a visit. Having said that, the whole process takes a long time.appoximately 2 to 3 years. My mom was here last september and I started the process in 2008. They are scheduling those interviews whithin 2 to 3 years from the day you apply. Its easier and cheaper to have a big wedding overthere which is what I am planning to do. good luck!

I know its a long process but, my mom and family are all here. My mom my sister and my kids... So with that said, it will be cheaper for me here, otherwise you know how many plane tickets and visas plus ospedajes I will need to pay to get married in cuba. If I can bring his parents over here its better, at least for visit not wedding

  8. The US Interests Section in Cuba gives you a sealed envelope which YOU are NOT to open EVER (and the medical is in there)...It's opened by the officer at point of entry (POE) into the US, but they won't likely want to make copies for you (even if you remember to ask with all the excitement).

Not sure of your timeframe, but maybe you could still ask the doctor in Cuba for a copy before you leave. It seems ridiculous, because they already have a copy of your medical exam from that envelope at POE, but the AOS application requests a copy too. You might have to go to a civil surgeon here, and have the whole medical done again before you can submit AOS papers.

I don't want to be a "downer", but even the VJ guides suggest making copies of the Medical for AOS. Try getting a copy from the issuing hospital if at all possible.

Those people are incredible its enought that we had to pay to advance on medical exam....... We will have no choice but to pay one here. I think the exams are running around 200.00 in Miami... But will try to get away with a regular copy. Just in case

  9. I'm just another opinion...but don't worry about the visa being denied due to a tardy medical exam. They will just ask you to submit it when it's done. That being said, don't expect the medical exam results the same day...you need the chest x-rays too, and how fast do you think this will all take place? Also once you submit the tardy medical exam to the US Interests section, I can almost guarantee they won't issue his visa the same day. From experience, we had to submit supplemental info to the US Interests Section, and it took about 2 weeks after to receive the visa (even though I ALREADY HAD THE INFO AT THE INTERVIEW!!)...It was just that the interviewer wouldn't take it, because the "pre-screener" didn't think it was necessary.

You have some time...so try and try again to get it done ahead of the interview. You can't take NO for an answer in this process in Cuba...because it's almost always NO at first. Does your fiance know anyone that works in the hospital? Almost everyone in Cuba has a relative, or friend of some sort that works there. Go that route, and when he goes to schedule again...a crisp 5-10CUC showing in hand would usually do the trick.

Just my suggestion...Keep trying, and trying, and trying...He'll get it done...ja ja.

Thank you for the advice, but just got a phone call a little while ago. That he went back offered $$$$$ and they did his exam, it will be ready in a week or so.... Incredible!!!!!

We paid $100, which was more than I was hoping to have to pay. :(

  10. We paid $100, which was more than I was hoping to have to pay. :(

For two weeks its not worth it.... I can go to interview and they will ask to bring in exam when ready.... I cant do much anymore. I am about to go nuts... Esto es un desespero por completo.... Nothing settles in my stomach right, I cannot sleep right. All I think is of him being here.. They told him at hospital that the same day of exam they can give him the results since the interview is for Sept 27..... I dont know who to believe anymore. All I can do is just wait. By the way did your fiance pick up visa and when are arriving.
