Since they have flipped over to the new system, I didn't think FedEX was in play anymore, but rather TNT? I would also like information on this if anyone has any. There are options online to select a Kiev pickup location, but the timing is an unknown - (1 day, 2 days, 3 days etc).

It is wonderful unless your package is sitting at the Embassy waiting to be scheduled. I've called everyday this week and same thing, no slots available until the 20th. Register online the 20th and schedule your interview. Downside is another 1.5 weeks behind the 8 ball. What are you going to do?

Same problem in Kiev as well. If you go to register as a new user on the new system you will see which countries are currently open for online scheduling. The local call center for Kiev which is in Warsaw has told us everyday this week they have no slots available. The cutover for Kiev to the new system is 9/20 - we wait impatiently. What doesn't make sense is that they'll open the flood gates after over a week of holding back.

I'm specifically asking why VJ data says that both biological parents must be present, when the official instructions say that this is not the case. I'm ignoring VJ data and going with the instructions. It would be a pain to have the other parent show up to an interview because they may simply not show.

I was reading the consulate info for Kiev, Ukraine and I don't think the dual biological parents info is correct. I can't find any mention of this in the official instructions for the information packet. I'm specifically referring to item 1) below:

"18. IMPORTANT! TO OBTAIN A VISA FOR A CHILD UNDER 16 ONE OF THESE IS REQUIRED:

1) Physical presence of both biological parents;

2) Court decree giving one parent sole legal custody of the child;

3) Death certificates, in case one of the parents is deceased."

Hi All,

I know this topic is a few months old, but still very relevant and I'm glad that I found it. I am in this exact situation now. Father speaks to daughter maybe once every 6 months and hasn't seen her since 02/2011. I understand the requirement; Full Legal Custody or Letter of Consent. I have a battle to now fight and am going to Ukraine to live for 2 months 6/16-8/20 with my Fiancee. Yes, I said it right - Fiancee, and I-129F just filed, but no letter from ex yet. At a minimum I'll be with her for moral support while we tackle this issue and I have $ ready at hand if it comes to it. I think one of the benefits we'll have is that she has not forced any legal child support on him, so this is probably going to be our first lever (if it can even be done after the divorce is final?).

My question: Does anyone have a copy of what the letter should say exactly for the current K1 trip and all subsequent trips in either Ukrainian, Russian or English? I would like to take this with me when I go, and hire an attorney in Kiev (where the ex lives) to write it up officially and get it ready for signature and notary.

Hi I'm a US petitioner for a K1 Visa of my Ukraine fiancé'. One question that has come up is whether or not she will need an official Ukraine certified update of her USSR birth certificate prior to leaving the country and by the Ukrainian government.

I understand the US government is OK with an officially translated copy of her USSR birth certificate for the K1 processing. Any experience you can share with either/or would be of great help.
