  1. I get a yearly exam done by my own doctor, I think I'd be aware of any problems by now. :)

I'm worried about the cost effectiveness of either option plus taking all that time off work. I hope this all goes through by July next year, which means I won't have earned enough vacation hours to be taking 2 weeks off.

I just had my medical and my interview done in Montreal and stayed there from Sunday Nov 4 to Friday Nov 9. My medical was scheduled for first thing monday morning on the 5th and I picked my results up at 7am Nov 8th and brought them to my interview at 7:30am. They do chest x-rays for TB and check blood work for syphilis. If you wanted to be sure of having a clear medical just get checked by your family doctor before you go and get a blood test done for syphillis and HIV. I booked my flight to come back on the night of the 9th just in case there was any issues so that I had a full day to deal with it before I left. They take debit and credit at the clinic and with taxes it costs around 230-240$. If your medical is not ready for pick up before your interview the clinic will give you a letter and your receipt stating that it was done but that you would bring it to the consulate the next day. They say 3 full business days but it actually usually only takes 2. They had me call back to the clinic after 48 hours to remind them to have it ready for the next morning and there was no issues.

  2. I have my interview in Montreal on Thursday Nov 8th..anyone else get the same day? I am just wondering if I flew to Montreal on the 4th to have my medical first thing in the morning on the 5th would it be ready for pick up the evening of the 7th? That is approx 2.5 business days.

  3. I paid my VISA fee before hand as well one less thing to worry about on the interview date. It took me over a month to schedule an interview for Montreal and then somehow my initial interview was canceled without my knowledge. Thank god I was able to schedule an appointment for the same date but only in the afternoon. All you can do is if there is an interview available I would grab it and then try and reschedule for further out of necessary as time slots in Montreal go really fast.

when did you get your case complete email or letter and when did you then get an interview date and when is it? It is for Montreal right?

  4. My wife is from Calgary, and I am in Idaho. We filed (CR1) in Feb 2012, did everything electronic. Our NVC docs where accepted on Aug 17. Too late to get into a Sept interview slot.

One of the agents (on the phone) told me that interview dates are setup in the middle of the month (Montreal) for the following month. Example: Week of Aug 13 was for Sept interviews. The next appointment setting time period is the middle of Sept (I think the week of the 10th), which will be for October interviews. So even after your docs are all in... you maybe sitting in the black hole like we are... waiting for a month before hearing anything new. I hope to hear something by Sept 17th. At least that is when the agent suggesting calling back if I don't hear anything.

    Good Luck loriboyde18

My issue is that in June/July when my husband and I paid our AOS and IV application fees I then sent an email asking if we could send it all in physical forms and i was told yes. The first week of August I got a letter from the NVC saying that they no longer accepted paper copies and wanted me to re submit my IV application electronically which I did the 2nd week of August. Today I finally realize I was also supposed to submit all my civil documents as well when I just thought I could bring that to the interview with me ...my main confusion is now do they want to to scan all the civil documents??...because how is it originals if it is scanned? and how would they accept scanned passport photos?

  5. I am so confused right now with the whole packet 3 and packet 4 and getting an interview date. I am a Canadian and my husband is American. We started filing our papers for CR1 October 31 2011. We thought we were at the very end a couple of months ago, we paid the AOS fees and Chad filed the AOS papers with is pay stubs and everything that needed to be sent, and I sent in the physical copies of my Immigrant visa papers (DS 230-1 and 2) the middle of July 2012 only to get an email back the first week of August telling me that they wanted me to resubmit it electronically, I did that 3 weeks ago and have been sitting waiting for my interview date ever since, After sending 2 emails to the NVC I finally got one back not even answering my questions but sending me a link to the civil documents that need to be sent. My understanding was that I had to gather a police record check, long form birth certificate, passport photos, etc to bring to the interview with me but now it looks like I was supposed to send in all those original documents with the papers I sent in July/August??? Can someone please break down this process for me a little better.

  6. Hi All

I just joined visa jouney today. My husband and I have filed an I-130 and it has been approved. We are now at the next step with he AOS. I am living in Alberta and moving to the US for my husband. I automatically assumed that my interview would be in Vancouver considering it is so much closer to me than Montreal. I realized that my case number starts with MTL which means Montreal. I am so frusturated about this because Vanouver is a 1 hour, cheaper flight. I had already been looking into Vanouver and where I was going to stay and get my medical done. There has now been a curve ball throw into my plans and I will have to take more time off work, fly a full day to montreal and spend approx 1000$ more dollars!!! Does anyone know if it is possible to pick which consulte you want to go to for your interview based on convenience and why would they pick Montreal for someone living in Alberta!!
