  1. Interview on Oct 26 for me - I guess you don't know your date yet? Make sure you get your medical done early since you will need to pick up the results later - my medical is on a Friday but I won't get the results until Monday after 4pm (although I am doing my medical during the last week of September so I have plenty of time before the interview). When I checked last night, the earliest interview time was for Oct. 19 and there was one almost every day after that with rare exception.

It took me a few days to get Packet 4, but you could always email Vancouver Consulate and ask them to email you Packet 4 so you could get it earlier and book earlier -not sure how long it would take you to get it in snail mail.

Thanks again... yes, I have emailed about Packet 4 and hopefully I will get from them today or early next week. I know that the date of interviews are 29 days out, but were you able to see specific days? If I have not gotten packet 4 yet could I still pay the fee ? I am registered but not paid as of yet. Just a dumb question sorry.

  2. Just booked our interview today in late October - maybe we'll run into each other! Wishing you two all the best!

Yes... Maybe we willo. I sent back Packet 3 late last night by fax and hope to have the Packet 4 to give me instructions on booking my interview. Yes, I have a flight booked for the week of October 22-26 so hope to get my interview booked that week. When are you there? If you want to share.

Thank you for your help and support.

  3. In my opinion I would take the RFE with you, receipt of them getting the document (original), then take the copy with you. You can also order another death certificate online through vital statistics and they are pretty darned quick at getting it out to. I had to aquire one for my first born.It came within a week so you still have time.

Yeah on the Consulate getting your papers..

Enjoy your trip to see your sweetie

Thank you... YES. I was able to email the Vancouver Consolate and they confirmed they have the original documents for the NVC so I will not need to get anything further. They also just emailed that Packet 3 has been sent so I am now going to fax back the Checklist and DS-230. Trying to get an apppointment by end of October and it looks good as they are only 29 days till the next one from today. So we is excited. keep in touch on your too....

  4. On the Vancouver Checklist it asks for the following..

    1. Divorce and Death certificate.

THE NVC had also asked for this July 5h of me and my Fiancee as a RFE. We sent the ORIGINALS and they acknowledged receipt and approved and sent us the NOA 2 on August 30th.

QUESTION: How can we supply again originals? Will our Orginal documents end up in VANCOUVER? Can I take photo copies? ( Sorry but just want to make sure I have what I need when I get to Vancouver)

Any suggestions or comments is so appreciated.

  5. I just got my Packet 4 in the mail today. Currently waiting on Dr. Cheema to respond to my email for an appointment. We'll see how long he takes (it's been two days so far). I didn't have to send in the affidavit of support, just say that I had one. In my particular situation, I definitely need the affidavit of support. As for you I am not sure. If you were to prove self sufficiency you might have to do it on the I-134 anyway. Plus you can't work right away when you enter so you can't technically support yourself then... not sure. Perhaps someone else will have a better answer. As far as the form goes, I'm pretty sure the form is the same format no matter what consulate one goes through.

Hi VeeNDee... I have an email into the Vancouver Embassay as my fiancee in Westfield Ma is a student and her income is not sufficent and would need a co sponsor for the affidavid if I used one. BUT I worked for a Canadian Bank and have $500,000 in investments and can get my investment broker convert it to a monthly pmt. Plus I have my house tenetatively sold with $220,000 equity as well. So I hope I can prove my own finanes will prove I wont be a burden. I am still researching and hoping to fine something.

thank keep me posted on your medical and interview date too.

  6. Yeah it's definitely different than Montreal. Having read some of the frustrations people have had going through MTL, the Vancouver checklist seems a lot easier. No online photo uploading or faxing of specific documents - just a checklist saying you have them and one form!

Yes I agree Vancouver will be easier and I know surrey and downtown very well with my 5 years of work. ( I lived in Abbotsford at the time). Did you feel that the Affidavid of support is different? I saw a document that said if I as the beneficary could prove self sufficency and not being a burden I may not need a 134 document. Just wonder if you saw that too?

  7. I got shuffled to Vancouver from Montreal. Now need to redue everything to make sure I keep Vancouver happy. Does Anyone have a Checklist for the Packet 3 that I will need to do. Is there anything I should worry about? Anything major different from Montreal? Thanks all in advance.

  8. Hi friends. Called the NVS this morning and while I requested Montreal Embassy for the interview they just gave me a VANCOUVER Case Number. I think thats a GOOD thing as its quicker. I live in Winnipeg MB anyways. Is anyone else going to VANCOUVER? Will the process be quicker? I filed on line the 160 and got a confirmation reflecting Montreal as the Embassy. WILL I now have an issue if they send to Vancouver. AND I am okay with that location due to speed of process. Cany comments or concerns or recommendations PLEASE help.

  9. I think they got that confused with DS-260. Packet 3 instructions say you need the receipt for DS-160. I don't know why on earth they need the same information over and over again on different forms. I did the test photo section before I started DS-160. I scanned the passport photo I had done, and it still didn't accept it. I ended up taking a new picture and it worked.

thank you rob and monika... are you using Montreal or vancouver? I have all my stuff ready but the NVC still has not processed there part yet. I may have an opportunity to change to Vancouver as I live in Winnipeg. I hear it is so much faster and I know the area considering I lived in Abby for a while.

    thanks.

  10. We were just approved on the 4 th Sept. I have all my forms filled out ready to go. You can't really date them yet though. Make sure you print out the required copies. I'm speaking from the Vancouver consulate requirements though. Congrats. I thought I would finally have a good nights sleep after the approval but now I'm working through all the finishing up business when I should be sleeping... what a process this is.

    Terri

Thank you Terri.... I just completed my DS160 as well and printed confirmation reciept that will be needed for packet 3 when I have a MTL case number. I am maybe gonna try and move it to Vancouver as I live in WINNIPEG and I hear VAN is so much quicker. As far as the interview process. Montreal is still 60 plus days away. Have you heard how quick you can get into Vancouver for your interview? I use to live in Abby so I know the area well.

  11. Hello everyone.

Just called DOS asking for help as when I got to the end of my DS160, I was trying to upload a photo and hit a snag.

Called DOS and while I dont have a MTL case # ( she was helpful and kind and polite). She said if I had done a 156 and 156K

I did not need to complete a DS-160. Any help here?

    thank you

  12. Hello everyone. Yes we have the NOA 2 dated August 30 approved. NVC still has not reveived and they say it takes 15 days to get before a MTL # can be assigned. While I wait patiently... How soon before I can complete the DS -156 on line? Can I do it now? Can I then complete the DS-160 Confirmation receipt?

Trying to move things along pending packet 3 and 4 and interview.

Please let me know if you can find the time. Thanks everyone for the help.

  13. Thank you for those quick replies. I assume I can then start calling in about a week to NVC and see if they have the petition and if it has a MTL number. I am trying to be patient and hope I dont miss something I need to do.

I need to make sure the petition left for the consulate and then follow for P3... Most of the stuff is ready but its the waiting game.

    Any suggestions please share.

  14. Well.. Jan 28th we started and today were advised the NOA 2 is being mailed. It had one RFE in July but not a biggy. My question is who gets the NOA2 sent to them? Will it be me the Fiance in Canada ( Winnipeg ) or will my future wife in Masschusettes? All recommendations is to take a breath and start calling NVC next week to see if they have it and have a MTL #... so the journey continues.

Just wondering who gets the NOA2?

    thanks

  15. This is tough to log for sure... Living an hour 1/2 from the US border we would go 4 5 or 6 times a year. And then during the 80 s and 90's we went to WPB florida for 3 weeks every winter to get away from 30 below... So Its still guess work as passport was never stampled and only looked at. Oh well all part of the process to get into the states and marry my soul mate and best friend. Yes serendipity...

    Lou

  16. Completing form now in prep for Packet 3...

Question 35 List Dates of all porevious visits to or residence in the United States (give type of visa status if know )

I have travelled about 7 times over the last year to Massacheusetts. Do I just log some visits?

Or is this not what they are asking for?

Thanks if anyone has completed recently this form

    Louis - Winnipeg

  17. Yes... thank you. I too ( Winnipeg Boy ) will be needing this and have started collecting and compliling the STUFF for good old Montreal, Unless they allow me to switch to Vancouver. May be easier for sure...

Thanks again. NOA2 Coming this month for sure. My majic perogy tells me so.

    Louis

  18. Yes, even if you use a co-sponsor, your fiancee is still your beneficiary, so even though she doesn't have enough income to qualify, she has to fill out the full I-134, and submit all of the supplemental evidence (recent tax returns or IRS statements, bank statements, letter from employer, recent pay stubs, proof of citizenship, such as a photocopy of their passport, etc.) Your co-sponsor needs to provide all of the same things. So two full I-134's.

    Good luck!

Thank you Victoria... appreciate you taking time for feedback. This is the one area that concerns me. I am a retired 35 year banker with LOTS and I know my income or investments wont mean a thing. So we will work to get sponsor and co-sponsor. QUESTION : I noted it took 4 plus months for you to go from NOA2 to interview. Was that all Montreal due to just swamped or did you just take a little more time. I am trying to make a Jan 5 wedding ( yes its planned ) But can be delayed. I hope my RFE is reviewed this next week and then off to NVS for the packets 3 and 4 and then interview date... Thanks... I just peaked at your time line... it helps

  19. Getting closer to having my RFE reviewed and approval sent to NVC. Question is that I know my Fiancee in USA is below the required amount of $19,000 income as a couple due to going back to College and selling Real Estate as a supplement. As such the Affidavid of Support 134 will not be sufficient. QUESTION : She still completes even if she only had income of $10,000 or so AND then A second individule ( likely her brother ) would also complete a full 134 document providing proof as requested. Am I correct or can you provide more instructions.

    thanks

    Winnipeg thanks you.

  20. Montreal Consulate is stating their average wait for an interview is 22 days. Not sure where you got 80 days...just an FYI

Amberlynn... here is the comment made today by someone else on VJers' as copied below... so now I am confused on how much longer when all this started in January 27th 2012

As far as how long it will take, the Immigration Timeline at the top has all sorts of statistics you can look at. As of right now, the average between NOA2 and Consulate is 28 days, and the time to interview from then is about 79 days at Montreal (on average). I would estimate about 4 more months from now until the interview when you add in the RFE wait.

Thanks again... I just wanted to share what I got and why I was anxious to move from montreal embassy to vancouver.

  21. Montreal Consulate is stating their average wait for an interview is 22 days. Not sure where you got 80 days...just an FYI

Hi Amberlynnloves.... thanks for the reply. I had someone try and tell me on another post I still had about 80 days to my interview. As mentioned today my fiancee sent the RFE ( just my wifes offical death certificate vs the funeral home ) so it will be approved probably in 15 days and then sent to Montreal. But someone said it was so backlogged. If its only 22 after they get the document from VSC then I can probably wait. Love to get an interview in October thats all...

    Thanks again for your comment

  22. Thanks to both of the quick replies.... I am always worried to start changing things but I think in the big picture I could save a month even if it cost me a little more with some flights. When my REGINA boy says case number I assume you are referring to the MTL case number NOT my EAC original NOA 1 document number? right or am I wrong... I need to wait for MONTREAL number I assume and then request transfer....

Yes thanks for the link as well ...

Here is a thread with what other have done in the past: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/299190-change-visa-issuing-post-for-k1-visa/

Let's hope it gets noticed and automatically switched without you asking for it. Either way, I hope the switch goes smooth for you!

THANK YOU hiker girl... not sure what I should do at this stage. If you were me??? switch to Vancouver if possible to make it quicker?
