  1. From what my Fiancée went through it is pretty easy - but I think it depends on the age of the person going through. Younger gets more "counseling" - their web site says what docs you need to bring

She needs to know your family names, Mothers maiden name etc, where you live all that kind of info

My Fiancée went on Monday to St. Lukes and Tuesday to the CFO so it is possible to get it all done in one week. But get there very early so you are first in line - the CFO has only so many slots but for American destinations has 2 seminar times morning and afternoon.

Remember while you need your passport for the session you do not need the visa in it, you will get a doc confirming you went through the session and then once you have the visa in the Passport you can go back and get the stamp inside the passport with out any work.

    Hope that helps

  2. Hey there - had the same problem - Don't know what the "BIR" you are refering to is; but my Fiancee got a drivers license and that took 4 weeks max (I think it was more like 3 weeks) did pay for driving school .... and so on cost a couple of hundred USD but all done in 4 weeks -

Of all the options that was the fastest we had.

    Good luck

  3. What the best way to mail to the Philippines ? Fedex costs a lot and I want to send an entire I129F copy to my girlfriend . I have shipped with UMAC , but that was a box and was over 2 months . My girlfriend sent me forms with LBC and it was delivered by DHL to me witin 3 days ! Would DHL be a good way back to the Philippines ? I heard USPS takes quite a while also and is not so reliable . Any help would be great thanks..

Of the 10 things I sent by US postal Mail only 1 single post card got to my Fiancée - I have only used FedEx and it gets there every time - yes it is expensive but you know where it is.

Sending by US Postal (even registered certificate etc) it disappears in Manila to never be seen again.

  4. Hey Everyone - Thanks for the Suggestions and tips.

So FYI - She went in with Birth Cert and other docs including pic ID's but no govt issue ID with Picture

So 1) she is applying for a drivers lic - that looks like it will be the fastest way to get an acceptable ID

    2) Checkiing with driving schools to see what is necessary to get the "real" one and not the learners permit

    3) talking to travel agent about how to get help on the passport...

Well it is a delay - things were going too smooth before :-)

    Again Thanks to everyone's suggestion

    Dale

  5. Well just as everything was going fine (Embassy has my paperwork and she needs to schedual her medical / interview) we ran into this problem - anyone have suggestions??

Well she had to get her marriage certificate to her dead husband spelling corrected - go that went to get passport - and was told she needed 2 photo ID's

well she only has one that they are accepting, she needs a SSS id (has a non photo one as I understand it) and now needs to get the photo version. However in the nearest town (Lucena) they say 2-6 months to get it.... she says she called the Manila head offices and was told the same...

So at this point stuck waiting on her getting her passport - any suggestions as to how she can get the ID card necessary?

    Thanks

  6. Hello Fellow VJ’ers

Well we are about to file the K1 pettition once we have the last document necessary.

Here is what I have to file as I understand it – Please correct me as necessary.

    K1 application cover letter

    I-129

I-129 pages of explanation of long names and addresses that did not fit

    G325 for myself with Photos

    G325 for Lyn with Photos

My Letter of intent to marry Lyn

Lyn’s letter of intent to marry me

    Copy of my Birth Certificate

Copy of all pages of my Passport (Highlight dates in Philippines)

    Death Certificate of Lyn’s husband

Copies of all airline tickets and hotel receipts

    G-1145 E-Notification form

We are just waiting for the Death Certificate of her previous husband and then she can sign and sent her documents to me. Hope to file by the end of June

Now to the real questions –

Lyn has 2 children that are living with her parents (have been since the death of her previous husband) they are not going to accompany her to the USA. Anything we need to file about that or state about that or?? (Her parents do not want and her kids do not want to leave the Philippines)

Should the documents really be attached with the 2-hole clips to a folder?

Should I include the I-134 now or send to her when everything is approved?

Thanks to VJ and everyone for the help.
