No, I'm not in a hurry. I was just curious how it works. After all, this is the very last step of a long journey lol
If you are in a hurry just pay for the expedited fee, takes 10-14 days. or schedule an app at one of the pp agencies.

In addition, the following regional passport agencies do not require any travel plans to apply (an appointment and the Expedite Fee are still required to apply):Arkansas Passport AgencyBuffalo Passport AgencyColorado Passport AgencyDetroit Passport AgencyEl Paso Passport AgencyHonolulu Passport AgencyMinneapolis Passport AgencySan Diego Passport AgencySeattle Passport AgencyVermont Passport Agency -
Really? Do you know how many processing centers do they have nationwide? Is there a processing center that processes applications significantly faster than others? I've noticed that some ppl received their passports within a three-week time frame.
It's a luck of the draw. You and I can apply at the same post office on a different day, mine goes to IL, yours can go to MN etc.

Is the processing time all the same for applicants from different states, or it depends on where you live? Does some applicants receive their passport sooner than others?

You can give it a try the same day you are having your oath ceremony. However, if the ceremony ends late, I doubt you can get your passport the same day (same-day passport usually requires an early arrival to passport agencies) Why don't you go there on the following Monday or Tuesday? Be there early and take your certificate of naturalization and proof of travel with you.

wow..your application was processed so quickly! I still see nothing for my case status

I would suggest you to consult with an immigration attorney as your case is unique.

I submitted my passport application at a local post office yesterday. I gave them $136.20 in total ($110 Money Order, $1.20 Money Order Fee and $25 USPS Passport Fee) For the money order, the agent didn't ask me to sign and date. Is this normal? They simply collected the money, instructed me to sign the passport application form and told me everything's all set.

Try to contact the house representative in your area and ask him/her to inquire your case status on behalf of you.

Has anyone recently applied for and received your US passport? How long did it take? I had it processed today by using regular service. Their website says 4--6 weeks but some people received theirs within 3 weeks. Could someone share your experience? Thanks.

Hi, does anyone rencently applying for a first-time US passport in NYC could provide us with a time frame how long it took? I understand it usually takes 4-6 weeks for regular processing and 2-3 weeks for expedited service, according to DOS's website. Am I expected this process longer or shorter in NYC? Also, both post office and passport agency could handle expedited service, correct? Any advices are appreciated!

Just venting....getting discouraged, STILL waiting for a letter telling us when our interview is scheduled.....check the mailbox anxiously everyday and still nothing....sigh
There's really nothing to worry about. You may be thinking too much. Register the text msg/email case status service with USCIS, so that you don't have to check your mailbox everyday.

I'm scheduled to attend my Oath Ceremony in a few weeks. Are there any additional steps I have to take after that according to corresponding laws (e.g. update driver's license, SSN, etc.) Please advise. Thank you all!

About five days ago, I received both text msg and email saying that my application was scheduled for interview. Until today, I still haven't received a formal letter with time and place for my interview. Is it normal? I thought usually the letter should be received around the same time with the text msg and email notifications. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I registered for both email and text msg notifications with uscis. When an interview date is fixed, am I expected to receive a status update notification? I received a update in both forms three weeks ago for being placed in line. Just wanted to confirm the same thing will happen for the interview date notification. Thanks.

The yellow letter its a RFE
Just to clairify - not everyone is expected to receive a yellow letter, correct? Even if a yellow letter (RFE) is received, an applicant can take the documentations requested on the interview day, not a separate day before the interview, right?
-
Cereza I applyed on March 6 too, I got yellow letter on Friday it seems our casees are the same in timing!
I'm still in-line for interview - just curious whether the yellow letter you referred to above means an RFE or interview letter? Thanks.

I did an early biometrics early April, but haven't received anything since then. I noticed that many applicants received their in-line letters only a few days after fingerprints taken. Is my case normal? Thanks.
-
You don't need to register for the selective service if you receive your GC after 26 years old. In addition, if you were holding any valid non-immigrant visas (e.g. F/J/H) prior to age of 26, you were also exempt from registration.

Folks - does anyone know how many months it takes for a New York (Queens) applicant to wait for the interview after fingerprint? where the interview venue is? Jamaica? Also, am I expected to receive an "in-line" letter as well as a correpondng USCIS online update after biometrics? Thanks.
-
Thank you for your response. I notice that you completed the entire journey successfully within a very short time period. Is it common in SF area? I thought California has even more population than New York - am I expected to have everything done in 3-4 months as well?
It was probably just a duplicate in error. Either way since you did an early bio it should be fine.

Last week I received my first I-797 notice scheduling my biometrics appointment. I successfully did a walk-in yesterday. Surprisingly, I received another I-797 today showing the same appointment date as the first notice. Has anyone here had similar experience before? I assume these two are the same, although sent on different days. The USCIS online case inquiry matches the first notice.

Received the Biometrics letter today scheduled in more than two weeks. Can I walk in there and have it done early next week? is there anyone who got rejected for walk-in biometrics? Please advise. Thanks.

It's interesting that the year "2012" is available already on their website today. Does it mean I can place the order today?

Submitted my application approximately 3 weeks ago and still awaiting my passport. My passport has been routed to New Hampshire, how long is the processing time? Had my I 751 processed in NH as well and it far exceeded the normal processing time . This wont happen to my passport application again, right?
