  1. Hello All,

Glad to hear so many success stories on this thread. We are preparing to file for my ROC (90 day window begins Feb 29).

We have many documents to present to the men in black:

    Joint bank account

    Joint tax Returns

    Vacation airline tickets

    Pictures

Affidavits (btw - do these need to be notarized?)

Country club contract for my family (myself, wife, daughter)

    Life insurance benificiary evidence

Evidence of each other as emergency contacts at places of work etc..

My question is this - We have not bought anything jointly, or opened any credit cards jointly in this time. We haven't needed to, or wanted to. We have not transferred any of our regular bills to include each others names - nothing has really changed in our life other than our joint bank account. Will we be penalized from a standpoint of not having enough evidence? No new cars, no new houses etc. In fact - it is the house I wish to discuss here.

We live in a house owned by my parents. They plan to transfer the house to both of us in May 2013. If we expedited the transfer into our names now - would that be an added security in the eyes of the immigration folks? We do not pay rent currently - so have no evidence of paying that bill together.

  2. hey puck - congratulations ! green card headed your way ! you write up the review yet, place it in our interviews section?

Thanks all, and if you point me in the right direction I will most certainly write a review. I cannot believe I only found this site the night before my interview. I could have saved the price of a year full of antacids. :-)

Oh yes, I got my EAD today in hand. I also got my online notice that my welcome letter had been mailed.

  3. Very hard to know what to think of that interview. After waiting an hour we were taken back and made to swear an oath to the truth. There were no super personal questions, the only raised eye brow from the IO came from the fact that although we have a joint account which we both pay into, we both maintain our personal accounts (these are long standing accounts from which our personal bills(car payments, personal credit cards, gym memberships etc)) come from.

A very sterile un-encouraging experience which was ended with the closing of the file and the words "We are done here, you will be notified of my decision within 60 days". She did explain that if I get my GC, that it will be conditional etc, and that it will be 3 years from date of issue until I can apply for citizenship, if I desire. I guess that is something at least! That and that I didn't get flat out denied.

    Thanks all,

    Puck.

  4. Hi MNBJ,

It sounds like our situations are similar. My OPT expires June 11. I was reminded by our HR group that my EAD is expiring and was concerned that it might expire prior to my AOS being granted. I filed the I765 however, you do not state if you did?

My AOS interview is today actually, but my EAD was approved on May 3rd. The good people on here have explained to me that the EAD gives me temporary work permit until AOS is achieved.

I hope too can find a resolution which works best for you

    Good luck,

    Puck.

  5. The 765 - EAD card is designed to be approved and given to the applicant before the AOS is approved. Its a temporary work permit that allows you to work. Has nothing to do with green card interview or the green card and the EAD is actually voided when the green card is approved/issued.

Thank you all, and Inky. That is good news, it was concerning to me that I may have had to leave my job if my green card was not granted prior to my current EAD expiration date. That would not have been ideal.

As an aside, I am just going to wear a shirt and tie, with some dress pants to the interview. Is that ok? Too little, too much? I wear collared polo shirts to my day job, but I am heavily tattooed and do not want to run the risk of any kind of negative prejudice etc. This day has been a long long time coming and as such I'd like to do everything I can to have it go as well as possible. Are these genuine factors to consider?

    Regards,

    Puck.

  6. Hi All,

Apologies if this breaks posting protocol - but my wife and I have my green card interview tomorrow at the local USCIS office.

I am an F-1 visa holder currently on an Optional Training permit (OTP), which is set to expire in early June. We have filed the i485, i-130 and I-765, I have completed my biometrics appointment and we are all set to go for the interview tomorrow. We have heard many anecdotes that sometimes the green card may be authorized at the interview, and equally as many anecdotes that it is processed some time after this, so while we are excited, we do not want to get our hopes up at all (thats the Irish in me).

Anyway, I noticed today that my I-765 has been cleared and they have started processing my new employment authorization document. Is this a good sign? Why would this be granted if the green card has yet to be authorized. Is this a common practice and does it bode well, or does it not really mean anything at all?

All and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Puck.
