Her lawyer drove her to her 1st exam and picked up the results same day, which she delivered at intake with packet 4, the day before she received her 1st 'approval' letter. This time, she mailed it as instructed in the letter, despite the fact that the Embassy was a few kilometers from the post office, since the US Embassy will refuse to see you without giving you an appointment notice...

She's in Guangzhou now headed for medical clinic. Too bad GUZ will not allow you to drop it off, but you have to mail it from 3 blocks away and wait a month for them to open their mail.

Her point was that the Embassy did not check the box saying she needed to submit a new exam, and that the Medical Clinic would not do an exam unless the Embassy checked the box to say it was needed. Of course, the Embassy allowed the exam to expire, and now we are waiting for them to send the passport back, as the Medical Clinic needs both the Embassy's letter plus the passport for verific...

Li received yet another "your visa is approved" "final processing" "submit passport" letter. Excitedly, she mailed passport/letter back to GUZ 8/27. Afterward, she showed me letter. In fine print, letter said that if medical exam did not have at least one month left, submit new exam. She did not do as I advised. Said she wanted to wait until GUZ told her so.

Well, we've been cleared for 3rd time. Hope its a charm. 6/28 ltr said "AP over", "final processing" & "send passport" which we did. To be fair, the Embassy website does warn to not purchase tickets prior to receiving visa stamp...but besides receiving 'approval' notice, what really upset me was Li submitting 10 yr job/educational resume at intake, it rejected back thru the window, showing it again at interview, & it rejected again, but then requested via 221g 2 wks later. Gotta grin n' bear ...

Consulate asked for (along with passport for visa stamp) a new criminal background check b/c old one expired during AP. Fiancee can have medical exam in Beijing. Also, she may be able to take high speed rail to Guangzhou for interview vs. flying. She can pay visa fee anytime before interview.
