In this case, I can re-enter the US with my Japanese passport and the green card only. Is this correct?

I just want to make sure before I leave.

I'm going back because my mother is retiring and I want to spend some time with her and my grand parents.

My wife got a letter from the local confirming her approval. It really weird though, as its on plain paper and not the usual 797 form. I don't think we've ever received any letter from USCIS that was on just plain paper. We were worried until we opened and read it as it seemed so strange to have a plain paper letter from them.

Interesting. I got I-797, Notice of Action as an approval letter this time around too.

It's perfectly fine to stay in the US with an expired student visa as long as her I-20 is current. But No, she can't travel oversea that way. If she wants to travel, she has to renew her student visa like you said. She can only renew her student visa outside of the US. With a letter from her employer and the current I-20, she should be fine to renew. But, yes, it could be denied in which case she cannot come back to the US as a student. There is a risk always. Either way, renewing the student visa during Christmas sounds like a very bad idea. Has she checked how many days the US embassy in France will be closed during the holiday?

Just put F-1 Visa expired. It's a good idea to attach a piece of paper to explain your situation regarding your current status. Don't be lazy just because there isn't enough space on the application. Just attach a separate paper. Also no matter what you decided to write, please DO NOT put your status as F-1 Student because you're NOT. And that's lying. Lying to USCIS is the worst of worst things you can do when you are going through the immigration process. Good Luck!!

It's almost the time for me to renew my auto insurance and it's expensive.

I don't even like to drive, so I hate this expense.

I know the insurance prices vary with many factors, but how much do you pay for a month? I'm just curious.

So my friend's father who came to the US on a boat after Vietnam War wants to get a birth certificate or something equivalent to that.

Is it possible? He is in his 60s. Do they even have pre-war records stored somewhere?

If possible, how can he get it? Does he have to visit Vietnam or...?

Doesn't your marriage certificate say both your wife's maiden and married names? I'm Japanese and in Japan we cannot even have a last name that is not Japanese. So...I mean a PCC with my husband name? Impossible. I didn't even think about that. Nobody asked anything!

It sounds like he earns enough right now. Try to get a letter from HR. If it didn't work, he has to man up and ask for help. It can be hard, but he gotta do what he gotta do. Good luck

I take another try...

When you are putting together your evidence for the ROC case,

present the evidence in a monthly journal format, having a section for each month,

and showing the evidence accumulated for that month,

for each and every month that's transpired between marriage and yesterday.

What goes in that monthly journal, in a month's section, you ask?

1. monthly statements from bank

2. monthly utility bills

3. monthly 'other' bills

4. monthly car insurance statements

5. Anything else you two paid monthly.

Then if you want, for other evidence, of a general (not time specific) nature, such as:

1. medical bills

2. tax returns

3. photos

4. affadavits

5. letters of attestation

6. insurance documents

7. POD documents

put into another section.... it's not monthly in nature, but accumulative.

I hope that made more sense? I'm quadlingual and forget english grammar rules sometimes ...

OK. So we'll compile the time specific evidences month by month.

I'll try my best although we don't have much bills received..

One last question. Is certified mail ok to send the packet in?

ok - after a reread - I am stumped,

as

you could have done something else, like put a cable bill or satellite bill on yer parent's house in both of yer names.

and make a joint bank account that you two actually used - heck writing a monthly check to the parents on a joint account would have been great evidence fodder, (showing shared domicile between you and your spouse and payment of same) but you chose to do something else.

re: insurance - medical/life or hangnail - hey ! although you ain't got anything NOW - what did you have prior? Produce what you had prior, as it counts.

re: bank accounts - on a single payer bank account, you can create 'payable upon death' instructions on each account, and include those instructions with the evidence. plan a trip into the bank(s ) and get it done.

re: partial tax returns. no, no no and no. USCIS wants to see COMPLETE returns. Don't have it, you say? Get the tax transcripts from the IRS.

We did pay tax from this account and used to have a decent amount of money in it until we paid for CC which

we used to pay our wedding party in the US.

We live with our parents. So no lease agreement or any home related bills come under our names. In her affidavit, my mother in law did explain how we live with them and we contribute to the mortgage payment.

Health Insurance: I don't have it right now. Looking into plans now.

So in this situation,

joint Lease,bank account statements,health insurance,life insurance,joint bills at home,joint tax transcript of 2012(2011 transcript if got married in 2011)-these all things are missing and they should cover whole 2 years period.

• Partial copies of our 2013 and 2014 joint US tax return.

• Copy of the sale contract of our car, showing joint loan
• Copy of my wife's car insurance, showing me as an allowed driver
• Copy of our visa cards, showing a joint account.

We have no money in that bank account though.

Not much transaction history either.

For tax return, does copies of Form 1040 work?

Or is there any other way to present our joint tax return?

Also for credit cards, we're sending in photocopies of cards,

but should we include transaction history as well?

We want to send them in at the end of this month.
